Dragonfly64's JournalBradley Byrne is my representative
and I called his office today to ask what his justification was for joining in with the SCIF raiders. His poor little aide said he hadn't shared that with her yet. I told her that I was appalled and disgusted by this behavior - that I expected it from that moron Matt Gaetz, but that I expected better of my representative. I also told her that since the congressman had so little regard for national security protocols I hoped that if he was reelected or, God forbid, wins Doug Jones senate seat, that he never be allowed a security clearance or be allowed to see any classified information. I said I hoped that the most important thing he ever be allowed to do from this point forward was have input when it came to renaming post office buildings.
She told me that she would pass on my message and I told her to be sure to tell him not to send me one of his standard "I'm here fighting for you" form letters, because I didn't believe that for one minute.
So I had a crazy, random thought this morning
when I was turning off my alarm. What if the real reason Paul Ryan has done nothing to stop the freedom caucus and Devin Nunes isn't because he's a spineless piece of garbage (I'm not saying he isn't, just that it might not be the reason) is because he KNOWS that trump and Pence are going down and he will become president. If it's a done deal, why would he want to do anything to antagonize the rabid base that he'll need to be reelected in 2020? Why waste money on a congressional reelection campaign when he knows he's about to be president? Nobody ever runs for VP without wanting to be president someday. (Dick Cheney doesn't count because he WAS the president). Granted, it would have to happen in the next couple of months, but you never know.
Now, I'm not by any stretch of the imagination saying that this is what I think is going on -- it was truly just a random thought that popped into my head this a.m. and I thought it was interesting enough to share.
Everybody have a great day!
Just voted in Fairhope, Alabama
I ran in on my lunch hour and was surprised at the small crowd. I vote in a great big church and they moved us out of the main hall to one of the outbuildings. There was no line when I got there - maybe six people waiting when I left. To put it in perspective, last year's presidential election was in the main hall and the line extended in and out of every room in the building. Almost all of the people there (besides me) appeared to be retirees. Baldwin County is notoriously red, so I'm hoping that the low turnout here bodes well for Doug Jones.
