Mail in my inbox this morning told me I had a couple more hearts. Really lifted my spirits this chilly winter morning. Funny how a little thing like a digital heart can mean so much to people.
I have so enjoyed reading the posts from members who have received hearts, the joy this week brings to everyone. It makes me proud to be a member of DU, knowing we do make a difference in the lives of our members, just by caring enough to give a little heart.
Thank you to the kind souls who started my day with joy and love. 💕
Lots of Scam Calls Today - One to watch out for...
Busy day. I have blocked/deleted several scam calls in the last few hours. Of course, I never answer anything not programmed in, as any legitimate business will leave a message. So here is a message I received today that I will NOT be returning:
"This message is solely intended for [my full name]. Regarding file number 2025-JAX-2[xxxxxx] in reference to the address on [my address]... [part did not transcribe]... If you have any questions or need to reschedule the delivery, you will need to contact the firm directly at 855-622-0085 and reference your file number. Please be advised this call has been logged and submitted as proof that you have been notified of this pending matter. Have a good day... "
There was more in the voice mail, but above was all that transcribed to text. Said something about [their supposed name] being a private firm contracted to deliver legal papers, blah, blah, blah.
Oh yeah, and totally computer generated, with "fill-in-the-blanks" voicing for my name and address.
Just a heads up to fellow DUers to be careful

Starting here. It's not much, but I'm going to spread the little bit I can budget out amongst a few favorites, a few dollars here and there. Just to make me feel like I am doing something. Here are a few I'm thinking of, just off the top of my head...

Just Thinking... Two current House Republicans that Dems might be willing to consider backing
Dan Newhouse (Washington's 4th District) and David Valadao (California's 22nd District).
Both of these voted to impeach Trump, survived primaries against far-right Trumpians, are from Blue states and have to deal with a fairly large contingent of Democratic voters in their district, so although they talk and vote the Republican line, they also seem to be a bit more willing to actually do their job.
Newhouse has been around awhile. There are pockets of his district that are becoming more blue, almost purple. He has to be aware of that and could be part of why he felt he could withstand a vote to impeach and still win his district.
I think Valadoa is in a lean Democratic district. Not sure how new he is, or much about him, other than he voted to impeach.
Both seem to be above the fray and willing to at least work for a functioning government. And they voted to impeach, so I am willing to give them the benefit of the doubt that they want a democracy and a Congress that works.
There are some Repubs who wouldn't vote for them, but maybe there are some Dems who would? They have to be better than the names I'm seeing on the news....
