Or that must be what Fox Spews has been drilling into the dumb kids, now adults, from my private school. Based on a couple of FaceBook posts I just saw. They actually think NYC just went Communist. As far as I understand Mamdani is proposing universal child or daycare, increasing teacher count and pay and some things to help rent levels. Most of that will boost spending power which should help the economy grow and diversify.
Andrew Cuomo should be ejected from our party, here is why.
The Cuomo Campaign posted this super dumb and racist AI video on the official campaign site, during their second debate so he could pass the buck and deny responsibility.
Here is an article from the Guardian confirming that is was the Cuomo campaign and that they in no way actually denied posting it. Not as blatant or slick as Trump, his fellow alum of the same rich-boy private high school. It shows he isn't that much better in regards to his own character. And he was a literal carpetbagger, who "traded" residences with his daughter with no actual roots here. I doubt he even paid the higher city income tax rate yet. Even if he grew up here he has been living in Westchester county for decades now.

Not even 20 minutes into the second mayoral debate, Cuomos official account, Andrew Cuomo, tweeted the video. It was reshared by many before being deleted.
The Cuomo and Mamdani campaigns did not immediately respond to the Guardians request for comment. The video, which has been saved and reshared by various people, runs a little over two minutes and opens with an AI iteration of Mamdani, first running through the streets of New York and then eating rice with his hands. It goes on to show a Black man in a keffiyeh shoplifting, a man abusing a woman, a sex trafficker, a drug dealer, and others, all showing their support for Mamdani.
Reaction to the video, which was re-uploaded by journalist Prem Thakker, was fast and negative. Shannon Watts, the founder of Moms Demand Action, a grassroots organization that advocates for gun violence prevention, called it so gross and full of racist stereotypes, including a Black man dressed like a pimp trafficking a car full of white women. Cuomo needs to be thrown in the ash heap of history.
I hope he gets the type of job the low character he demonstrated deserves, fighting traffic tickets or doing legal work to collect debt for waste haulers or defend polluters or something else dirty and demeaning.
Ugh Mayor Adams sounded MAGA in his speech
Adams said in a video posted to Twitter on Sunday afternoon.
"Despite all weve achieved, I cannot continue my re-election campaign," Adams said in a video posted to Twitter on Sunday afternoon. "The constant media speculation about my future and the campaign finance boards decision to withhold millions of dollars have undermined my ability to raise the funds needed for a serious campaign."
"I must also sound a warning," Adams said. "Extremism is growing in our politics. Our children are being radicalized to hate our city and our country."
"Political anger is turning into political violence too often."
"Insidious forces use local government to advance divisive agendas with little regard for how it hurts everyday New Yorkers," he said. "Major change is welcome and necessary, but beware of those who claim the answer is to destroy the very system we built together over generations. That is not change; that is chaos."
Senate Leaders Scrap Renewable Energy Tax
Source: E&E News by Politico
Senate leaders have agreed to remove a new excise tax on wind and solar projects from their megabill in order to secure enough support for passage.
The new tax was based on a projects compliance with strict sourcing requirements. It will likely be removed in a broad amendment ahead of the megabills final Senate approval Tuesday, three people familiar with the negotiations said.
The new language would also keep investment and production tax credits for wind and solar through June 2026 and base eligibility on when projects start construction. Thats more generous than what conservatives wanted.
But in a nod to conservative concerns about being too lenient on climate law credits, projects would need to be placed in service by the end of 2027.

Pathetic Overcompensation Prade is underway
There are spectators, but not sure that many by DC standards. It is a pathetic as one should expect. Two tanks parked in front of his review stand. This is a low in our history. https://www.nbcwashington.com/news/local/military-parade-weather-road-closures-protests-live-updates/3932581/
To be clear the troops are doing their job and following lawful orders, so this isn't a criticism of their being in the parade.
I think Harris & Team should do interviews w College Papers
We need to start a new generation of local print journalism. And clearly rebut any legacy media complaining as their clear bias has caused this, they have earned this rebuke. Then when we are in office we can set up seed money for some new news outlets. The Reich Wing does this, they have a whole swath of outlets.
ConOld and the Weirdo
The creepy duo, riffing on Batman and Robin.
I know we need to not just call them names and offer a coherent alternative to their blather but we need to hammer both of these icky servants of greedy billionaires.
Study about Presidential news conferences
Here is a scientific analysis of Biden's solo news conferences over the first three years of his presidency, conducted by John Woolley and Gerhard Peters, of UC Santa Barbara's American Presidency Project I encourage you to look at the whole piece, but the table shown below highlights why I consider to be a particularly significant metric.
Also, here is the conclusions section:
"Conclusions
Ultimately the issues raised by complaints about Bidens news conferences require that we define standards of performance that would apply to any president. Do reporters have access? Do they have sufficient opportunity to ask questions? Is the Administration sufficiently forthcoming with information about policy and strategy? And, not least, is the President using his time and resources in a way that best advances his goals and objectives?
In the first three years in office, all of the following are true concerning Biden's performance in solo news conferences starting with George H. W. Bush:
- Presidents Trump and George W. Bush had fewer solo news conferences than Biden.
- Biden answered more questions on average than either Clinton or Obama.
- Media questions and Bidens answers were shorter than for other Presidents except Trump.
- Presidents Clinton and Obama exceeded Bidens linguistic sophistication
- Presidents Trump and Clinton exceeded Bidens number of exchanges with reporters.
- The Biden Administration had more press briefings than any other.
An additional factoid, not mentioned above, is that we believe that Biden's January 2022 solo news conference is the longest for any president.
Undoubtedly Biden has not measured up to media demands in various ways. In that respect, certainly, he is not unique among recent Presidents. But it is always important not to confuse the theatrics of the Presidency with the substance of policy and the realities of citizens lives. The ability to sway the public with graceful rhetoric is a great advantage for Presidents. In some circumstances, such rhetorical ability may be essential for effective leadership. Presidents with those abilities have been rare in American life."

Biden Administration Plans to Recommend Easing Marijuana Restrictions - NYT
Source: New York Times
The move would kick off a lengthy rule-making process and would amount to a major change in federal policy.
The Justice Department plans to forward a recommendation for easing restrictions on marijuana to the White House in what could amount to a major change in federal policy, according to three people familiar with the matter.
Even though the move, which if approved would kick off a lengthy rule-making process, does not end the criminalization of the drug, it would be a significant shift in how the government views the safety and use of marijuana for medical purposes.
It could also lead to the softening of other laws and regulations that account for the use or possession of cannabis, including sentencing guidelines, banking and access to public housing.
Last year, the Health and Human Services Department recommended to the D.E.A. that marijuana should be a Schedule III drug, which would put it alongside less addictive substances like Tylenol with codeine, ketamine and testosterone, meaning that it would be subject to fewer restrictions on production and research, and that it could be taken with a prescription.
The Associated Press earlier reported the decision.

Schumer has spoken on a banking act to get the regulated cannabis market into the financial system on the normal tax code. Currently the IRS treats cannabusinesses like how drunk right wing politicians describe drugs. The IRS rule for cannabis is insane in that it excludes many normally deductible expenses.
Research is better, type 3 may include some medium risk drugs plus support research into psychedelic therapy.
We are going to be busy this year doing good things while clearly pointing out the Former Guy did not.
