Unless the voting public has gotten distorted beyond the point of even faint recognition, political reality dictates that no congressperson can go back to his or her home district and proudly proclaim to have cut funding for medical research into grandma’s cancer, mom’s heart disease, baby’s developmental disorders and aour leader’s mental illness. The White House’s NIH cuts are likely to face stiff opposition from both parties. And it pays to remember that congress is the one who passes the budget.
Yet the question remains, if both parties support the NIH, whom is Trump representing when he cuts it? Big Pharma. That’s who."

Comcast's bid to acquire Time Warner Cable, if allowed to occur, would be the 10th largest corporate merger in American history. The company is seeking approval from the FCC and the Department of Justice, who are charged with making sure the giant corporations aren't breaking any anti-trust laws. But they are already falling into the realm of anti-trust...as in "We the American people DO NOT TRUST this large corporation, whose main goal is to increase its own profit margin, to have our best interests in mind."
The media is focused on answering the question of what may happen to a user's service when they should be focused on what will happen to our rights and our democracy. The First Amendment to the United States Constitution prohibits the government from making any law abridging the freedom of speech or infringing on the freedom of the press. If only our forefathers had included a dictum against market or business endeavors that have the secondary outcome of infringing on these areas. Instead, we are letting the loopholes of the 'free-market' decide just how much of our constitutional rights we get to maintain.

This comes from a report done by The Center for Public Integrity (www.PublicIntegrity.org) called Breathless and Burdened, a yearlong investigation examining how doctors and lawyers, working at the behest of the coal industry, have helped defeat the benefits claims of miners sick and dying of black lung, even as disease rates are on the rise and an increasing number of miners are turning to a system that was supposed to help alleviate their suffering.
