'Minnesota governor Tim Walz called the Trump administration’s immigration crackdown in the state “chaos,” “illegal,” and “unAmerican” in an op-ed in the Wall Street Journal today.
“The Trump administration’s assault on Minnesota long ago stopped being a matter of immigration enforcement. It is a campaign of organized brutality against the people of our state. It isn’t just. It isn’t legal. And, critically, it isn’t making anyone any safer,” said Walz in the op-ed.
“That isn’t effective law enforcement. It isn’t following the rule of law. It’s chaos. It’s illegal. And it’s unAmerican” he added. “This assault on our communities is not necessary to enforce our immigration laws. We don’t have to choose between open borders and whatever the hell this is.”

Renee Good's family hire George Floyd lawyers to investigate her killing by ICE agent
'The family of the woman shot dead by an ICE agent last week has hired the law firm that represented George Floyd’s loved ones after his killing by police in the same city in May 2020.
'Chicago-based firm Romanucci & Blandin has said it is investigating Good’s tragic death on behalf of her family.

We want to take a moment, given everything, to address you directly.
This past year has seen our Government engage in unprecedented acts, including against our own citizens. People have been seized by masked federal agents from their homes, their workplaces, and the streets of their communities. Students and scientists with visas permitting them to study and work here have been deported without due process. The people who laid siege to the U.S. Capitol have been pardoned and called heroes. Agencies vital to the country’s national security have been dismantled. Universities, media companies, and law firms have been subjected to threats to their funding, access, and licensing unless they made concessions and surrendered their right to constitutionally protected free speech. American troops have been deployed on the streets of our towns and cities. The Justice Department has been used as a weapon, at the direction of the President, to pursue political opponents. And most recently and searingly, an ICE agent killed an unarmed mother only days ago.
'Every person has to decide when they have seen or had enough and are ready to fight for this country, its principles and its people, no matter the consequences.
For us, now is that time.

Request to appoint a special master to compel the Justice Department to release the Epstein files.
'A bipartisan group of lawmakers has asked a US District Court to appoint a special master to compel the Justice Department to release the Epstein files. A special master is a neutral, third-party official appointed by a judge to make sure judicial orders are followed.
'Congress members Ro Khanna, a Democrat from California, and Thomas Massie, a Republican from Kentucky, sent a letter to Judge Paul Engelmayer of the Southern District of New York requesting the appointment.
“The Department of Justice is openly defying the law by refusing to release the full Epstein files. Millions of files are being kept from the public,” Khanna said in a press release announcing the letter. “The DOJ has failed to make the necessary redactions to protect survivors while removing records after publication without any explanation. That is why we are requesting the appointment of a Special Master to oversee the release of the files and ensure that the DOJ is following the law.”
“Attorney General Pam Bondi is egregiously violating the requirements of the Epstein Files Transparency Act,” said Massie. “Under her leadership, the Department of Justice is missing statutory disclosure deadlines, making excessive redactions, and illegally withholding the Department’s internal communications. Because the Department of Justice has shown it cannot be trusted with making the disclosures required by law, a Special Master should be appointed to oversee the release of the Epstein files.”

'Minnesota governor issues 'warning order' to prepare state's national guard following fatal shooting by ICE agent
At a press conference, Minnesota governor Tim Walz said that he’s “issued a warning order” to prepare the state’s national guard. “We have soldiers in training and prepared to be deployed if necessary,” he noted. “I remind you, a warning order is a heads up for folks”.
Walz added: “I have a very simple message, we do not need any further help from the federal government. Donald Trump and Kristi Noem, you’ve done enough.”

'Ex-cop sues after arrest over anti-Trump meme'
'Larry Bushart spent 37 days in jail on a $2 million bond after posting a meme on Facebook in the wake of Charlie Kirk’s killing that quoted Donald Trump’s response to a different shooting.
The quote? “We have to get over it.”
“I spent over three decades in law enforcement, and have the utmost respect for the law,” Bushart said Wednesday. “But I also know my rights, and I was arrested for nothing more than refusing to be bullied into censorship.”
'Bushart and the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression filed a federal civil rights lawsuit against Tennessee authorities alleging violations of his constitutional rights in retaliation for his protected speech.
“If police can come to your door in the middle of the night and put you behind bars based on nothing more than an entirely false and contrived interpretation of a Facebook post, no one’s First Amendment rights are safe,” FIRE senior attorney Adam Steinbaugh said.

Earlier, we brought you the news that the Department of Defense is investigating veteran and sitting Democratic senator Mark Kelly.
'This, after the Arizona lawmaker joined five other members of Congress in telling active duty military to “refuse illegal orders” in a social media video.
'For his part, Kelly has responded in a statement. “Secretary Hegseth’s tweet is the first I heard of this. I also saw the President’s posts saying I should be arrested, hanged, and put to death,” he wrote in a post on X. “If this is meant to intimidate me and other members of Congress from doing our jobs and holding this administration accountable, it won’t work. I’ve given too much to this country to be silenced by bullies who care more about their own power than protecting the Constitution.”'
