Our building just went on lock down (Mid-Wilshire, Los Angeles)-UPDATE ALL CLEAR

2 Buses in the middle of Wilshire Blvd. One parked at curb and one sitting across lanes. Bomb squad and their dogs just arrived.

UPDATE - All clear. Bomb squad and dogs checked 2 buses, one that pulled across Wilshire. Will probably never know but streets are opened again and the buses have been moved.

Thanks for all the good thoughts.

Creationists Sell Christian Theme Park To Themselves To Avoid $700,000 In Taxes

And God said unto Noah, "Avoid thy financial obligations."

Officials in Williamston, Ky., are worried that revenue generated by Ark Encounter, an Old Testament-themed amusement park, may soon dry up following an odd maneuvering by the property's owners.

Ark Encounter LLC sold its primary plot of land to its nonprofit affiliate for just $10 despite the property being valued as high as $48 million, the Lexington Herald-Leader reports, which could be the home of the giant Noah's Ark replica's preliminary move to declaring itself exempt from having to pay taxes.

L.A. March Commemorating 102nd Anniversary of Armenian Genocide

Tens of thousands are expected to march and rally outside the Turkish Consulate on Wilshire Boulevard on Monday to commemorate the 102nd anniversary of the Armenian genocide.

The 1.5-mile march — which drew an estimated 60,000 people last year — is scheduled to begin at noon at Pan Pacific Park at 7600 Beverly Blvd. and end outside the Turkish Consulate at 6300 Wilshire Blvd., according to the Los Angeles Department of Transportation.

There must to 100+ police cars around our building. Happy to say they are not in riot gear. Not sure if I should try to get out of the office before the marchers get here.

Would post pictures if I knew how. Need the grandkids

Update 2:20 PM

The march participants just arrived. They were scheduled to be here around 1:30, I thought. Lots of people in the march. They filled Wilshire from Fairfax to Crescent Heights. Not as many as last year (about 60K) but probably close to 20 - 25k). Still haven't made it down to see Schiff. Probably going to try and get out of here before they break it up. LA traffic is bad enough without getting caught up in march traffic.

Reid: GOP can avoid rules change if they confirm 7

Source: Associated Press

WASHINGTON (AP) — Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said Monday that Republicans must confirm at least seven presidential appointees they've been blocking if they want to avoid a controversial change in Senate rules as early as this week.

A compromise deal to confirm fewer than those seven will not suffice, Reid said only hours before a planned bipartisan gathering on the deeply divisive issue.

2013 Chairman’s Cabinet to Feature President George W. Bush

Why would anyone book this jerk?????

The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise Alberta Canada Sept 20 -27

The 43rd President of the United States, George W. Bush will address the members of New York Life’s Chairman’s Cabinet during their meeting in Lake Louise, in Alberta, Canada in September.

President Bush served in the Oval Office for eight of the most consequential years in American history. Faced with challenges from a terrorist attack to a global financial crisis, he made difficult decisions that will shape the nation’s course and world affairs for decades to come. Many of these decisions are outlined in his best-selling book, Decision Points (2010), a strikingly personal and candid account revealing how and why he made the defining decisions in his presidency and personal life.

President Bush's leadership after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, was an inspiration to millions of Americans. His policies, while controversial at times, kept the country safe for more thanseven years and liberated more than 50 million people from tyranny.

Working with leaders in Congress and elsewhere, President Bush also raised standards and accountability in public education, launched historic efforts to fight HIV/AIDS and malaria in Africa, and strengthened America’s relationships with strategically important nations like India, China, and Japan.

In speaking with our Chairman’s Cabinet Agents, President Bush will offer candid insights on his eight years in the White House, his experiences with other world leaders, the nature of public leadership and decision making, and a wide variety of domestic and international issues.

Wonder if anyone will greet him in Canada
