We Need Online Voting

We have secure online banking and our country's economy hasn't collapsed due to hacking. It's primitive to wait in lines for hours to vote in machines with no paper trail. The last time I voted I had no idea whether my vote was counted. I received a piece of paper with a number on it but that number was just a voting sequence number and had nothing to do with verification.

A secure online voting system would work and allow people to vote anywhere they wanted. And when they voted the voting data would instantly go to five other locations around the country.

In addition, the voter would have a permanent, unalterable verification of who they voted for and when on their computer. Even after 30 years they'd still have a record of every vote they ever cast. In the case of a discrepancy there could be a recount using all of the locations data where the original votes were stored.

Other countries have online voting with no problems but the US is using a system hundreds of years old. Isn't it time the US entered the 21st century?

Christians with guns for protection are hypocrites

If Christians had any faith they wouldn't dare own a gun for protection.

Number 1: If a Christian had guns they wouldn't have any faith that their Jesus would save them. And they also wouldn't turn their other cheek. They'd just fire at will killing anyone they deemed threatening.

Number 2: Jesus didn't own a weapon and neither did any of his followers.

Number 3: A real Christian with faith would even want to be killed so they could go back to be with baby Jesus again. Obviously they don't believe they will so they get guns instead.

Number 4: I bet a lot of Christian gun owners spend more time fondling and worshipping guns than they do going to church or praying.

NOTE: RW 'Christians' aren't Christians at all. They can't be Christians because they hate all of Jesus' teachings. They love violence, wars, executions, torture and of course GUNS!

Is that you Ghomert?

Laugh all you want. Being ignorant of what is going on is not bliss. And to not even have the inquisitiveness to want to know the truth is sad. I guess according to naysayers we should eliminate all journalists lest we make those who fear facts feel uncomfortable. Yeah, it's sad.

Snarky

Yeah I know accidents happen. So do murders. How can you prove the car wasn't hacked. I said the some of the car's 14 onboard computers could've been hacked. Thinking about possibilities is not being a conspiracy theorist. It's being knowledgable and aware. It's sad many choose darkness over having an appetite for the truth.

Ingraham is mentally ill

Laura Ingraham is nothing but a hate peddler. She claims she's a Christian, as all RWers claim, but she despises everything Jesus taught. To play gunshots in the background was no mistake and the absence of any apology by Ingraham is proof it was deliberate.

She was using a different method of throwing red meat to her deranged followers. To use gun shots while a great man and civil rights leader was talking shows the evil depths rightwingers will stoop to. There are no perverted or violent acts the right wing would deem inappropriate. They are pure evil.

We could have mental health testing

Currently, mental health is not required to be in office. All I have to say is 'TeaBagger', 'Libertarian' or 'Ghomert' and rest my case. The level of delusion & insanness in RW officeholders is alarming.

As a requirement to be in the lottery pool a person would have to submit to a mental health exam. That would weed out the village idiots. There would be other issues to consider but a lottery would be far better than the election purchasing process we have now.

If it was good enough for Athens (birthplace of democracy) it's good enough for the US.

Thanks for that link!

Since there is a precedence then who knows, it could become a reality, especially since it was considered the 'principle characteristic of a democracy'.

Here's a part of the text from the link you sent:
http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sortition

"In politics, sortition (also known as allotment or the drawing of lots) is the selection of decision makers by lottery. The decision-makers are chosen as a random sample from a larger pool of candidates.

In ancient Athenian democracy, sortition was the primary method for appointing officials, and its use was widely regarded as a principal characteristic of democracy. It is commonly used today to select prospective jurors in common law-based legal systems."

Scrap Elections & Have Lotteries

Face it, elections are purchases. The powers that be prop up the biggest whore and fun his election. Then after the 'election' the whore does everything his rich pimps tell him to do.

Our founders couldn't foresee the massive amounts of money in politics. So we need to change the system.

If we had lotteries instead of elections we'd surely have a better quality and more honest government. Everyone could qualify if they pass the constitution's qualifications for office. We'd end up with a government staffed by our next door neighbors and regular people. No matter how much money corporations or the rich have it would have no effect on a lottery.

I even thought a lottery from only a pool of prisoners would give us a better, more honest government than what we have now. Ok, l guess we could omit mass murderers and other violent criminals but I believe even they would be more honest than the criminals who are in office now.

I know there are a few good people in office but having just a few is not enough. We need most to be honest. But that will never become a reality until we take every dime out of politics. Until we are on the verge of a revolution those in office will never change campaign finance laws substantially. They are only in office because they have sold out to the richest pimps so there's no hope that they will r er do what's good for the US or Americans.

A lottery from local, state to national would put people from all walks of life into office and regular people can solve problems better than any rich political whore.

Once a person serves his term in office he goes back home. He won't go to K-Street or to a corporate board. That would be prohibited for life. After serving their terms they'd resume the jobs they had before they were selected by lottery. Because they knew they'd have to go back to live where they came from they'd be ever mindful of all the decisions and votes they made while in office.

Lets end the whoredom the US has become. Washington DC is a national bordello, not a seat of government. We could change that even with outlandish proposals like using lotteries to select our officeholders.

How would you like to wake up one morning and realize you're a US Senator?

Ted Cruz is not a legal US citizen

Ted Cruz is not a legal US citizen and he NOT a dual citizen.

To be a dual citizen a person must be active in both countries, like doing business or having an active role in both countries. Ted Cruz does not fit that requirement. I was born in Canada & I'm now a LEGAL citizen of the US. I am NOT eligible to be a dual citizen because I am not in business or playing an active role in both countries. Merely visiting Canada does not qualify me OR Ted Cruz to have dual citizenship. Every media source except The Young Turks are ignorant of the citizenship process.

Ted Cruz's parents FAILED to complete an FS-240 form in Canada to state their son was born to an American mother. Because of this (and subsequent failings described below) Ted Cruz is NOT automatically a US citizen.

Ref: http://travel.state.gov/law/family_issues/birth/birth_593.html

Ted Cruz also FAILED to apply for US citizenship through the naturalization process where one must first apply, get a background check, give an oath rejecting his allegiance to all foreign nations & stating his allegiance to the US and THEN RECEIVING a US Certificate of Citizenship. Ted Cruz does not have a US Certificate of Citizenship or he would have produced it immediately. Therefore, Cruz is not a legal US citizen.

Ted Cruz (and his parents), by NOT fulfilling any of the requirements to be a US citizen is not only NOT a US citizen, but he also is ineligible to even be a US senator and should be forced to resign.

The Constitution, Article 1, Section 3 states anyone who becomes a US senator MUST be a citizen NINE years BEFORE accepting office. Ted Cruz DID NOT fulfill that requirement. That is obvious because Ted Cruz has NO documentation REQUIRED to be a US citizen. Those documents are the FS-240 form that was supposed to be filed out after his birth, a passport that his parents should have applied for when Ted Cruz was a baby or a US Certificate if Citizenship.

In addition to Cruz's non-US citizen status he is also guilty of voting illegally in US elections because he IS NOT a US citizen and because he failed to fulfill any of the US laws to become a US citizen. By voting illegally Ted Cruz subjected himself to US election laws and should be punished for each violation.

I wish the media would exert even a minimum of effort to obtain facts before making false equivalencies by comparing Cruz's situation to Obama's and repeatedly using the term liberal birthers. This is a legal issue but no one in the main stream media is treating this as such.

As an ex-Canadian I was REQUIRED to apply for US citizenship through the naturalization process. Since one of my parents was an American I was entitled to become a US citizen, but there are laws to comply with in order to become a legal citizen. No one born outside the US is automatically a US citizen just because one of their parents is an American. Legal steps must be taken as I've described in this article to become a legal citizen.

My parents did not complete a FS-240 form (as Ted Cruz's parents failed to do) so as an adult I was required to do it myself. I had to apply for citizenship, have background checks performed, take an oath affirming my only allegiance was to the US and then ultimately receiving a CERTIFICATE OF US CITIZENSHIP. I did what US law required. Ted Cruz and his parents, did not.

Because Ted Cruz FAILED to comply with US laws before or after entry into the United States he is therefore NOT a legal US citizen.

Proportional Punishments Petition - Please Sign!

PROPORTIONAL PUNISHMENTS would force corporations & wealthy individuals to adhere to laws and regulations. It would also prevent paid off officeholders from interfering with efforts to make corporations accountable for their actions.

Please consider reading and signing the following petition:

http://petitions.moveon.org/sign/proportional-punishment

PARTIAL BENEFITS:
It would make punishments fit crimes.

It would force corporations to comply with laws or face severe financial punishments.

It would severely fine corporate executives who are virtually immune to any wrongdoings by them or the corporations they oversee.

Punishments would be progressive and be a percentage of corporate and executive's wealth thereby making punishments harsher with each subsequent violation.

For the first time we'd have laws that act like deterrents to corporations and the extremely wealthy.

The above are only some of the benefits of the proposed PROPORTIONAL PUNISHMENTS law. Many additional details could be added to ensure the law would be bulletproof with no wiggle room for offenders to avoid being accountable and paying ever increasing fines. Since corporations and the wealthy only respond to threats against their wealth then this law would be very effective in forcing corporations to be responsible.

Currently, all fines are ultimately paid by us. In the latest news several Wall Street banks avoided court and merely paid fines. Current fines mean nothing to corporations because they know every cent will be paid for by hard working Americans. Yes, we're punished when corporations break laws. That would change with PROGRESSIVE PROPORTIONAL PUNISHMENTS.

IMPORTANT: If you can think of any additional ways to hold the most powerful & richest in our country more accountable please feel free to share them. I'll add them to the petition. We all need to work together to ensure our country and way of life continues. Without additional laws to ensure it can I fear the US will fall victim to the escalating war on citizens and put the future of the United States in jeopardy. If we do nothing our country could become a serfdom with average Americans as mere slaves to the powerful and wealthy.

Please sign the petition that could be one tool in our citizen's toolbox to ensure our country has a future:

http://petitions.moveon.org/sign/proportional-punishment

The petition just needs a few more signatures to reach a milestone when MoveOn will help by sending the petition to many other progressives.

Thank you!
