Please call Senators & Congressional Reps

from around the country!

My request is for them to get enough votes to impeach him in the House and enough votes to convict him in the Senate.

I hope DU'ers are making phone calls. Heather Cox Richardson says they're helping.

I hope I don't get a snotty reply like the last time I posted asking people to call. Are DU'ers just a bunch of people bitching online or do DU'ers take action? I think we take action. I was just so taken aback by a reply I got from a long time DU'er (a couple of weeks ago) that it kind of shocked me.

BTW, Mineral Man, you never answered my question.

I'm reposting a list of 24 Republican Senators with their Washington D.C. phone numbers to let them know how you feel about the latest MN killing of Alex Pretti (and any number of many other issues). So it won't feel overwhelming, I've divided it (not alphabetically) into three parts. I think an effective guideline is: If your last name begins with the letters A - I, TAKE THE FIRST PART; J - R, TAKE THE MIDDLE PART; S - Z, TAKE THE LAST PART. The 25th Amendment is a very ineffective option in terms of removing dt from power. My understanding (after listening to Heather Cox Richardson as well as brainstorming) is to call Republican Senators and U.S. House Reps. to implore them to vote with Democrats in the House to Impeach him and Democrats in the Senate to convict/remove him from office.

The current makeup of the House of Representatives is:

Republicans: 218
Democrats: 213

We only need a simple majority in the House to Impeach, and we're only six seats shy (IMHO, we really need to have a higher number than just the bare minimum). If you live in a Republican District, please call your U.S. House Representative. All you need to do is google "Who is my U.S. House of Representatives Representative". Then you'll need to enter your zip code. Your Rep's. site should come up with their Washington phone number.

For folks who have HBO.......

Two Rob Reiner movies are on tonight: When Harry Met Sally and The American President. I love both of these movies.

It's a little extravagant, but Cable T.V. and some of the streaming channels are one of the few luxuries I allow myself (because watching good shows and movies are one of my joys in life).

Question:

I'm just thinking and brainstorming..................

In order to remove a President from office, there needs to be a simple majority in the House for the Impeachment and a super majority in the Senate to remove from office.

The Senators wouldn't need to change parties to remove, correct? I think I remember Mitt Romney voting as a Republican against dt.

I need input and advice...

I'm looking up the phone numbers for Republican Senators who aren't insane. My sister and I came up with around 24.

I had planned to post the names and phone numbers on FB and even posted that I was going to do so. I have around 1,700 FB "friends" because right after the first "No Kings March" (June 14, 2025) many, many people from all over the country were sending and receiving FB "friend requests" including me.

Then I got to thinking about it. I know how horrible those on the right can be. I can see some of them (maybe a significant number) making phone calls to these Senators either showing support for what happened in Venezuela or calling and posing as a progressives and being really nasty on the the voice mail.

I'll, of course, post the names and numbers on DU when I have them. PLEASE my dear DU family, this isn't a time to criticize the Senators I've come up with (by posting something like, "That Senator is a kook, that Senator won't do a thing, etc.....)

I'd just love your input about my concerns about posting on FB.....

I've been a member of DU since the very beginning....after that horrible fiasco - the sElection of 2000. My first user name was Lindsey, then I changed it to Nirvana555, and now it's Upthevibe. I had devices crash and I ended up having to change my user name. I've never been one to make a whole lot of original posts, but I consider myself a very active member in that I come to DU almost every day and read the wonderfully informative threads. I can't imagine what life would have been like over the past two decades without DU!
