About Me

I was WaitWut several years back. When the 'blackout' happened, I sort of drifted away. Now, I'm back at DU.

Job search advice...

I've had it with my job. It's killing me.

It pays okay, benefits are acceptable, but atmosphere is toxic. We have more managers than employees, change is constant and illogical and always falls on the Project Mgrs (me). The amount of stress is stupid for this industry (Commercial Print/Marketing).

I'm a 57/yo woman.
I have over 36 years experience in Printing, most in management/graphic arts.

I'm terrified of looking for a new job. I'm single and a homeowner. I don't have any backups if this fails, but I might actually get fired soon because I'm refusing to take on YET ANOTHER responsibility that is NOT part of my job description. I'm done. Over it.

I'm going to hire a resume writer and someone to finish my damned LinkedIn profile (freaking hate LinkedIn, full of bullshitters and ass-kissers).

Someone give me a freaking pep talk. Tell me someone will hire me. I'm good at what I do...really good. I can do damn near anything in this business other than run a press. I'm hiring material, right? Just because I'm "older" doesn't mean I'm useless, right?

Hate this...hate, hate, hate...

Oh, happy Friday!!!

Phantom Pain (in the ass)

Is it just me or when you see "White House Live" notifications do you still cringe? It's only a split second before I think, "Oh...no...we're good now". It wasn't that long ago that I would frantically scroll past, preferring to get my info from a place less toxic...like DU.

I swear that shitstain damn near ruined my passion for DC. I'm recovering, though. Just spent about 45 minutes lost on the Library of Congress web site searching for old manuscripts and legislation.

I feel much better now.

Elad...

I just went searching for Elad to give him a heart. The guy in the closet in the back room with the hamsters deserves love too.

I noticed he only has an 83% chance of serving on a jury. That sort of made me chuckle. You think he'd just 'default' to 100%. Not that he'd 100% want to serve on a DU jury.

Ah...remembering the jury days when Meta was alive.

Can we get a Countdown to Vote Clock?

I just realized that the election really isn't that far off. It brightened my day!

DU needs a countdown to vote clock on the front page. Please. Not only will it give us a light at the end of the tunnel, but will also remind us of how much work needs to be done.

Elad? You there?

The mess that President Biden will inherit...

...has me rethinking the VP choice. Not that it's up to me, yet. I'm expecting a call from Joe any day now asking for my advice.

Because of the unique situation that he'll be in, do you think it would be more or less important to consider a VP choice with a specific background? Financial, health, legal, etc? I know any choice will be a shock to the collective psyche of the US after enduring that ventriloquist's dummy that's been sitting on Trump's lap. I'm trying to put aside my own personal choice and consider the importance of the actual qualifications. I started thinking it might be better to have someone with a certain type of experience/knowledge, but I couldn't figure out who or what that might be.

NOTE: Anyone commenting on my choice to refer to our nominee as "President" as 'counting the chickens' can keep it to themselves. I'm sick and tired of negativity. I'm going to live in my own dreamworld where we're already picking out the drapes. Don't harsh my buzz.

HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY!!!

This is my 100th post on this account. TRIPLE DIGITS, BABY!!!

This was my home for so long...had to put this post right here.

<---- This is as close to an Irish Smilie as I could find. Seriously, guys? We can't have an Irish Smilie? <----this one is green, too.

Missouri Health and Senior Services says sixth positive COVID-19 case resulted overnight

They aren't saying which county...that's odd.

EDIT: They're saying it's in Green County

Can someone explain this, "..no longer required to send positive tests to the CDC..."?

EDIT: Solved!!! Thanks everyone for the clarification! You completely eased my mind. I knew I could count on this place to have real answers.
-----------------

I've searched for clarification, but came up empty. Now, is it just the confirmation that doesn't need to be reported, or is this going to skew the actual count/location of infection? Can't find a damned thing...

Also of note, according to the release: “As of today, the state laboratory is no longer required to send positive tests to the CDC for confirmation. Results from tests conducted at the state laboratory are considered final, including results for this case today.”

Has there ever been a Democratic President...

...that hasn't inherited a complete disaster from a Republican President?

We spend 4-8 years cleaning up their mess, they come in and claim victory. Spend 4-8 years destroying everything...rinse/repeat.

I'm cranky...so, I'm only considering recent history (and current events).

Look at us...

There's been some handwringing, a lot of sniping, chastising, finger-pointing, blocking, fighting and even some good debating.

Stop for just a minute and look at us. Look at who we are, not as DUers, but as Democrats, Progressives, Liberals or whatever left-leaning-label you identify as. Look at our candidates...all of them. They all have a wart or two (or three). BUT...look again.

We're damned lucky to be on their side. Every single candidate (past and present) has something to offer to the Democratic cause. They all have bright ideas and attainable hopes and dreams. Some may dream bigger or more expansive, but vision is what moves us forward. Some may have experience, and experience is welcome trait after the past 3 years.

Look at us having the best of the best on our side. I will be proud to vote for any of them and I look forward to seeing how they all fit in over the next four years.

Cheers to y'all
