La salud es un Derecho

https://m.

I know this is in Spanish but it's a wonderful video about how health care is affecting latino communities in the United States from the Sanders campaign. It was awesome that I could understand most everything due to lessons from Duolingo.

Immigrants are capable of melting through fences I guess

I was just watching Chris Hayes on MSNBC and they had some mouth breathing moron congressman talk about the wall. He claimed that refugees can literally melt through the border. They've got superhuman powers now I guess.

Are Theresa May's Days Numbered as Prime Minister

https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.cnn.com/cnn/2018/12/05/uk/brexit-vote-theresa-may-analysis-intl/index.html

As AMLO in Mexico begins to start his term and the Democrats are planning their first moves in a little over a month as the majority in the House, it begs the question. Where else is the left winning around the world? With Theresa May's repudiation by the House of Commons yesterday there is a growing question of when not if she resigns once Brexit negotiations officially fail next week like is expected. This will likely trigger a new election with Jeremy Corbyn as the front-runner going in.

So my question to my fellow DU'ers is how excited are you with the western alliance seemingly coming back together after it was damaged by the election of Trump and Brexit in the UK? Are you confident or has Bolsonaro's victory in Brazil given you more trepidation about the future?

I just voted today in the Western Suburbs of Illinois

I know that my vote isn't as important as those in a nearby district for Sean Caston but I was proud to be one more vote for Bill Foster, JB Pritzker, Suzana Mendoza and all the other democrats on the ballot. I did have to wait in line for a little while but thankfully I experienced nothing like in Georgia, North Dakota or Kansas.

For all those still yet to vote, I would encourage you to do so as soon as possible if you can still early vote in your state. You never know if you could have a heart attack, get hit by a bus or have some other extraordinary event that could prevent you from voting. Good luck to all the Democratic candidates all over the country.

Rumor: Colin Kaepernick may get signed by the Jaguars

https://www.google.com/amp/amp.si.com/nfl/2018/10/21/jaguars-blake-bortles-tom-coughlin-doug-marrone

This is an article from Sports Illustrated. The Islamic owner of the Jacksonville Jaguars commented before the start of last year's regular season that he would be open to signing Kaepernick if his starter faltered that year. Fast forward to this afternoon when the jaguars lost to the Houston Texans, the Jaguars benched their quarterback Blake Bortles for Case Keenum opening an interesting question mark for the next week. The Jaguars might be needing someone who runs well and doesn't throw interceptions. Kaepernick does both. In fact Kaepernick has the 2nd lowest interception rate in league history. So the question might be why not the Jaguars give Kaepernick a chance?

I say that they should try it out and sign him at least to be their backup. This would allow the team to give Bortles a 2nd chance while Kaepernick learns the system. This would also be a huge PR boost to the NFL and a huge rebuke to the sitting occupant of the Oval Office who famously called Kaepernick a "son of a bitch" at a rally in September of 2017.

Support for Christine Blasey Ford

It took a lot of courage to come forward and to share her story to the whole world. She recognized that she would probably just be ignored by the Republicans in the US Senate and unfortunately she was right. But her strength should not be forgotten.

She took a lot of hate and anger from the Republicans but helped bring to light other individuals stories of the judge that may not have been told without her. As a fellow male, I am ashamed of what those of my gender have done and said. As a fellow sex assault victim I am so proud of her. Let's not forget what she went through to get us to this point. Let's not allow our pain in this moment overshadow what she did. I will never forgive these people who voted for kavanaugh but I will never forget her and the others who spoke out.

PS- Sorry for misspealing her name in a previous thread I started. No disrespect was intended.

I just had a conversation with a right-winger at acupuncture.

A down ballot republican, the receptionist and I were having a conversation about Ford and Kavanaugh. The other two were women, I a man and we were all in general agreement that Kavanaugh had to go and that we believed Ford.

A man walked in during our conversation and he started going hard for kavanaugh. I mostly stayed out of it and allowed the female republican to make the case but the right winger started yapping about how she should've remembered everything and I jumped in there. I told him that I didn't remember the day my attempted assault happened or what he was wearing. I told him I remembered the look in his eyes and how I had to pin a chair against the door to keep him from breaking into my room. He didn't really say anything about my experience but after a while he told the female republican that he didn't care that the she would vote down ballot dem if they pushed him thru and I was silent but couldn't be more disgusted on the inside.

The female told me she was sorry the attempted assault happened to me eventually after she finished her conversation and I said that it's hard to talk about sometimes but it's needed. It was difficult to bring up my experience but it didn't seem to hit the right winger at all when I brought up my experience. It seemed very illuminating at how one of these cultists view sexual assault. It's just a power game to them and it is just such a fucking disgrace.

About ZeroSomeBrains

I became political early in life once I lost my brother early in life. Since then I have tried to ease that pain by helping myself through helping others. I volunteered at a food pantry for about a year and work currently as an accountant. I voted for President Obama once in 2012, Bernie Sanders in the primary in 2016 and Hillary Clinton in the general. I have great pride in all of these candidates and votes and didn't vote for Senator Obama in 2008 because I was ineligible to vote by a month and a few days. I have also voted down ballot for democrats in every election except for one local candidate once in 2010 because he was my baseball coach but since has turned into a tea bagger. I recently joined the democratic socialists of america and love AOC bernie and democrats in general. Mostly I just want to say hi as well since I'm new here and hope to be apart of a great community.
