Alarms Sound On Under-The-Radar Trump Move To Pay Off Cops To Assist ICE

“…the American public is likely unaware of a program in place that allows local cops to take part in a “Task Force Model” offered by the federal government to supplement and assist ICE. The federal government is reimbursing the salaries and benefits (including perks like overtime and equipment) for these officers…”

~snip~

“…at a certain point, you do what you're told to do by the people who are paying you and who are funding you…”

Organization "Fight Against Federal Overreach": Prosecutors From Across The US In Emergency Meeting Today in DC

Prosecutors from around the country are coming together in DC today to craft legislation that will hold the Feds accountable for constitutional violations within their respective states.

“The emergency meeting held by the new organization was unusual in more ways than one, with one Homeland Security official telling [Miles] Taylor that they couldn’t think of any historical precedent for such a gathering.

“When you see local prosecutors having to take on federal agents, you know we’re in uncharted territory,” the official told Taylor on the condition of anonymity. “This is a consequence of the administration’s abuses of power.”

Collective state action is the good news we need.

27 U.S. states say, "We stand together now or we fall separately later." Cooperative Legislation Among Blue & Red States

Cooperative legislation among states regarding Fed overreach first since 1814. List includes many Red States.

From DailyKos:

“Cora Neumann, a State Senator from my state of Montana, stood up today with legislators from 27 U.S. states to say, “We stand together now or we fall separately later.”  State Legislators came together—the first time since 1814—to take a stand against the federal overreach of the current administration’s lawlessness in their States. “The federal government has crossed a line.”

This is the message from 27 states, including ruby-red states like Missouri, South Dakota, North Dakota, Kansas and Tennessee.

All 27 States represented are coordinating legislation—85 bills “and counting” --to mandate transparency and accountability for federal operations, protect constitutional rights from warrantless arrests and racial profiling, guarantee States’ access to crime scenes involving federal agents, and establish consequences when federal agencies operate unlawfully.  “We are here to represent our constituents and our constituents say ‘No.’”

The states represented;

California, Colorado, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota (Host), Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, Washington State, Wisconsin, District of Columbia”

I think this is a good sign.

Can Midterms Be Cancelled? Jamelle Bouie Says No

Bouie gives an explanation on the mechanics of how midterms are run.

Not to say there can’t be problems, some more serious than others, but states run their own elections and there are no electoral counts involved.

Antifa used to unmask neo-Nazis, now it's exposing ICE: 'Predators don't get anonymity

From The Guardian:

“The Pacific Antifascist Research Collective did not publicly share the methods it used to identify Gramlin, but I know its research to be reliable. Its activists follow exacting editorial standards, a tendency born from the desire to be trusted by their communities; any missteps can destroy the credibility of the whole project.”

Gramlin was the fed agent who sprayed chemical irritants directly into the eyes of a protester who was already down on the ground and restrained.

Moira Donegan for The Guardian- Jeffrey Epstein files: don't be fooled. Millions of files are still unreleased

Donegan is an opinion journalist for The Guardian and my favorite writer on their staff. Here’s an introduction to her writing. I find her style to be clear and direct.

The USA Is Entering Emergency Rule Territory

This gentleman from Canada makes the point that Project 2025 has to make its move before the midterms.

That not only is Minneapolis a test case, but it’s a decisive battle between local and federal power. Push the levers to see what works, what doesn’t, who complies, who needs convincing.

The question for the Feds is this: How do we sell the idea to our citizens that we need them to run our cities to keep them safe because the locals aren’t getting it done?

What the enemy wants is the optics of chaos. Discredit the opposition like Walz and Frey by painting them as lawbreakers.

This guy speaks well, is thoughtful and considered in his approach and manner.

Worth a listen.

Stunning amount of US treasuries dumped as Trump salivates over Greenland

Title is a bit hyperbolic. But the last quote in the article caught my eye.

“For all its military and economic strength,” Saravelos wrote, “the US has one key weakness: It relies on others to pay its bills via large external deficits.”

Saravelos is Deutsche Bank CEO.
