We created a searchable database with all 20,000 files from Epstein's Estate

The US House Oversight Committee on Wednesday announced a massive document dump from Jeffrey Epstein’s estate, including thousands of emails discussing a wide range of topics, including women, blackmail, and spending the holidays with Donald Trump.

The 20,000 documents come in the form of poorly organized folders with unhelpful labels, screenshots of emails, and heavily redacted spreadsheets. Some of the files are devoid of context, such as a video in the NATIVES folder of a dog playing with plushies of Trump and Hillary Clinton, while others are broken up in confusing ways, like email chains split into several PDFs.

To make this massive data dump more accessible, COURIER has compiled the 20,000 documents from Epstein’s estate into an easily searchable repository via Google Pinpoint. Use the search tool here.

Dear Lesley,
HORRORS!

I have committed the (to me) unpardonable error of inflicting upon Jeffrie -- today on the phone -
false

anagram. Please spare him the pain of passing it on in its erroneous form.
Here is the correct version:

The letters in PRESIDENT TRUMP -- re-arranged -- spell: MR. PUTIN'S RED PET.
Thanks, Lesley. The chicken matter touches my heart. Dick C.

Planetary Solvency-finding our balance with nature: Global risk management for human prosperity

This is an interesting prospective view of climate change and its effects written by the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries at the University of Exeter. Actuaries, due to the nature of the job, lean towards the apolitical and hence are less prone to bias in their reporting. The report is well worth reading in its entirety. A sobering summary of anticipated outcomes is found on page 32 of the pdf. In short, the authors estimate 2-4+ billion deaths if we hit 2-3 degrees over pre-industrial levels by 2050 (which is the current trajectory).

Risk monitoring

1. 12 month average temperatures have exceeded 1.5°C above pre-industrial level

• Global warming has accelerated, with average temperatures remaining over 1.5°C above pre-industrial temperature. The decadal rate of warming has increased to 0.26°C per decade. It is not yet known whether this recent increase is a temporary fluctuation or permanent shift. Climate scientists have yet to explain it fully.

• Global averages hide local extremes. Record high temperatures are occurring continuously across the globe, with multiple locations now experiencing 40°C to 50°C peaks. Polar regions are experiencing temperatures 30°C to 40°C higher than normal.

• There is a lag between greenhouse gas levels rising and temperatures increasing. We have not yet experienced the full extent of warming caused by current greenhouse gas levels.

The numbers proposed by Exeter's group are consistent with work by James Hansen out of Columbia (see Figure 10 at http://www.columbia.edu/~jeh1/mailings/2024/Hopium.MarchEmail.2024.03.29.pdf). Hansen's professional publications and blog are a good resource for anyone interested in the subject and can be found at https://csas.earth.columbia.edu/about/people/james-e-hansen.

Distractions.

The reduced bond has a lot of people feeling out of sorts. It may be helpful to remember that:

1) the court room drama remains a thorn in Trump's side. It eats at him. Look at his deranged posting on TS last evening. Every minute he spends dealing with court proceedings is a minute not devoted to campaigning or fund raising. More importantly, constantly being on trial isn't a good look and the never-ending reminders of Trump's impropriety (criminal activity) may influence independent voters.

2) defeating Trump was never dependent on the trials. He's lost a solid 20% of the republican base to Haley voters, the majority of whom when polled have declared they plan to vote for Biden now that Haley is out. No candidate can lose 20% of their party's base and have a real shot at winning (short of chicanery).

Schadenfreude took a hit today. It would have been nice seeing ketchup spilling out of the man's ears, true. But this is not the end of all things good, ya know? He's down a few hundred million, the media seems to have joined in on mocking him, and the criminal proceedings have yet to begin. Rub some dirt in it.

As Biden visits swing states, Trump is fundraising and playing golf

Source: AP

WASHINGTON (AP) — As President Joe Biden visited five cities in a multiday trip last week, former President Donald Trump was hardly seen in public, spending most of his time in South Florida.

Trump has held just a single public campaign event since he locked up the Republican presidential nomination on March 12: a rally in Ohio funded not by his campaign but by backers of a Senate candidate whom he had endorsed. The events page on his campaign website has had nothing listed.

Biden, meanwhile, has been barnstorming the country. After a trip to North Carolina on Tuesday, the Democratic president will have touched down in all of the 2024 swing states in the less than three weeks since his State of the Union address.

Trump’s campaign faces a serious money shortfall and mounting legal bills as he fights four criminal indictments. His focus in recent weeks has been on wooing potential donors as his campaign builds its infrastructure across battleground states to catch up to Democrats, who have a significant head start.

TRE; trauma release exercise.

Curious if anyone has experience with TRE. This site describes several at-home exercises: https://www.choosingtherapy.com/trauma-release-exercises/

TRE has been successfully used to address depression, anxiety, PTSD, and CPTSD. The principle behind the application appears to be derived from a statement by Dr. Peter Levine who noted that

"trembling (shuddering, shivering, shaking) can be associated with protection and recovery from PTSD — as if the rapid movement of the body resets the overactive sympathetic nervous system."

In short, tension and stress get stored within the body in response to trauma. Trembling is one mechanism the body uses to cope with the excess nervous system stimulation. Intentionally triggering the shaking/trembling can facilitate the release of trauma from 'muscle memory'. The challenge, I think, arises if you're a control freak uncomfortable with your body doing things on its own.

I'm finding this to really improve quality of sleep after decades of insomnia. Highly recommend trying it if you suffer from gnarly anxiety/depression/PTSD/etc.

Roaming Charges: L'tat Sans Merci

+ Willie Pye was the third person executed in the US in 2024. There are 29 other scheduled executions for the remainder of the year, 13 in Oklahoma, 8 in Ohio, 3 in Texas, 2 in Missouri, and one each in Alabama, Georgia and Idaho. Of those, 14 have pending death warrants.

+ Hate crimes committed in K-12 schools have quadrupled in states that have passed anti-LGBT legislation since 2020, according to a Washington Post analysis of FBI data.

+ The Legal Aid Society has released a list of NYPD officers with the most claims against them. One of the cops, Sergeant David Grieco, has had 48 cases filed against him since 2013, amassing a total of $1,134,825.35 in lawsuit payouts. Grieco remains on the force. In all, NYC taxpayers have paid out more than half a billion in settlements for lawsuits against the city’s police for misconduct.

+ Hubert Védrine, France’s longtime Foreign Minister and National Security Advisor, who served under both Mitterrand and Chirac, told a story about Madeleine Albright accusing him of “betraying Lafayette” because he opposed her on the savage sanctions the US had imposed on Iraq. Védrine shot back: “Actually we didn’t intervene [in the Revolutionary War] at all to help America. We did it only to annoy Great Britain. It was a competition with Great Britain. Besides, if we had known what you were going to become, a kind of arrogant, dominating empire, all that, I think we wouldn’t have helped you!”

Trans man beaten and arrested by sheriff's deputy asks judge to be declared innocent

It was March 8, 2024, exactly 392 days after he’d been beaten by a Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy in front of a 7-Eleven, then arrested and accused of biting the lawman who pummeled him. Afterward, he’d been sent to the Norwalk station lockup and booked for three felonies and a misdemeanor. By the time prosecutors dropped the case seven months later, he’d already lost his high school teaching job.

-snip-

For the next three minutes Brock struggled as the deputy held him down, all of it captured on the 7-Eleven’s surveillance camera.

“You’re going to kill me! You’re going to f— kill me,” Brock shouted, screaming for the deputy to stop.

“Instead Benza rained at least 10 closed fist punches at Brock’s head and face,” the suit says, “while Benza used his greater body weight to pin the plaintiff to the ground as he continued to angrily pummel Brock with both fists, scraping his knuckles in the process.”

Upcoming tv adaptations.

Curious what people are looking forward to. Steven Colbert is supposed to be heading an adaptation of Zelazny's Chronicles of Amber. And, there's been rumor of an adaptation of Guy Gavriel Kay's Fionavar Tapestry since about 2018. Kay was the young chap who worked with Christopher Tolkien to complete the Silmarillion.

Any other hopefuls out there?

Florida woman broke into ex's home, threw Sprite, pickled pork at him and his sofa: affidavit

https://www.wfla.com/news/florida/florida-woman-breaks-into-home-throws-sprite-pickled-pork-at-ex-boyfriends-house-affidavit/

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A Florida woman is facing burglary and battery charges after she broke into her ex-boyfriend’s home and threw Sprite at him and pickled pork juice on his sofa, according to an affidavit.

A deputy with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office responded to a Lehigh Acres home on March 1 after a resident said someone broke into his home.

When officials arrived, they said the woman, identified as Aukievah Reddick, 22, was holding a bottle of Sprite outside of the home, which she then flung at the victim, identified as her ex-boyfriend, and hit him.

Reddick began shouting at the victim and continuously mentioned wanting to fight him, as the deputy tried to separate the pair.
