Trump calls Renee Good's death a 'tragedy,' says he hopes her father still supports him

Trump calls Renee Good’s death a ‘tragedy,’ says he hopes her father still supports him

President Donald Trump said during Tuesday’s White House press briefing that he feels bad about Renee Good’s death.

… “They’re going to make mistakes sometimes. ICE is going to be too rough with somebody, or they’re dealing with rough people,” Trump said. “They’re going to make a mistake sometimes. It can happen. We feel terribly. I felt horribly when I was told that the young woman ... the tragedy. It’s a tragedy. It’s a horrible thing. Everybody would say, ICE would say the same thing.”

… “When I learned her parents, and her father in particular, I hope he still is, but I don’t know, were tremendous Trump fans. He was all for Trump. Loved Trump, and it’s terrible,” the president added. “I was told that by a lot of people. They said, ‘Oh, he loves you.’ He was. I hope he still feels that way.”

This was from that insane press conference today. What the hell - did he just admit this murder was unjustified? That ICE was wrong? All because he found out her father might be a Trumper and he doesn’t want to lose a fan.

This should be bigger news.

Former Bears CB Charles 'Peanut' Tillman says he quit FBI due to Trump administration's policies

Former Bears CB Charles 'Peanut' Tillman says he quit FBI due to Trump administration's policies

Former Chicago Bears star Charles "Peanut" Tillman found a second career your rarely see from former NFL players: FBI agent. That job has now come to an end.

The Pro Bowl cornerback explained his decision to resign from the FBI in an episode of "The Pivot" podcast released this week, citing his disagreement with the Trump administration policies. Tillman pointed to immigration as a specific sticking point:

"Let me start by saying this: FBI was great to me. I did awesome. I worked with an amazing group of individuals. I think some of the things that they’re doing now, I personally didn’t agree with ... immigration. I didn’t agree with how the administration came in and tried to make individuals do things against their — it didn’t sit right. An example being immigration, right?

"Everybody was told, ‘You’re going to go after the most dangerous criminals,’ but what you see on TV and what actually was happening was, people weren’t going after that. Personally that didn’t sit right with me, that didn’t sit right with my conscience. You have the ability to refuse an order.”

Smart man with a conscience.

I want to be on the right side of history when it’s all said and done

Thank you for taking a stand and speaking out!

David Letterman Laments Jimmy Kimmel Suspension: 'This Is Misery'

Dave's words of wisdom never fail. He's great at capturing the insanity and seriousness of moments like this.

David Letterman Laments Jimmy Kimmel Suspension: ‘This Is Misery’

Legendary late-night host David Letterman has weighed in on the events that led ABC to suspend Jimmy Kimmel.

“This is misery,” Letterman said when asked about Kimmel’s suspension, speaking at The Atlantic Festival 2025 Thursday in New York. “I feel bad about this,” he continued. “We see where this is all going, correct? It’s managed media. And it’s no good. It’s silly. It’s ridiculous. And you can’t go around firing somebody because you’re fearful or trying to suck up to an authoritarian criminal administration in the Oval Office. That’s just not how this works.”

“In the world of somebody who is an authoritarian, maybe a dictatorship, sooner or later, everyone is going to be touched,” said Letterman.

Letterman also said, “The institution of the president of the United States ought to be bigger than a guy doing a talk show.” Kimmel’s removal from late-night TV, he said, “was predicted by our president right after Stephen Colbert got walked off, so you’re telling me this isn’t premeditated at some level?”

There's many more good quotes in there, including about Colbert's situation. Love Dave.

More details on Kimmel - ABC drama (slightly more hopeful take)

This article from Deadline seems to have more details on what went down yesterday. My read is ABC didn't want to do this, but thought this was the least bad option to avoid having to cancel the show completely.

I don't agree with that, but it seems like they want things to cool down and then get Jimmy back on the air. Who knows if he's interested in that however.

Kimmel On Pause: Why Did Disney Preempt Him, Who Made The Call & Will He Come Back?

Jimmy Kimmel learned in a phone call Wednesday afternoon that his 22-year late-night run on ABC was put on hold, at least for now.

Deadline understands that the person on the other end of the line of the phone was Disney Entertainment Co-Chairman Dana Walden.

Just hours before Kimmel was set to start filming tonight’s show, Disney’s top TV exec had a “thoughtful conversation” with the comedian, per sources. This came after the decision was made by Walden and CEO Iger.

“Both sides were very businesslike and polite,” one source said.

Hollywood needs to boycott ABC

I believe Jimmy is well liked in Hollywood for many reasons. He is a generous friend and has helped lots of folks out.

All of his celebrity friends over 20+ years need to pressure ABC. At a minimum, no more press or interviews on any ABC shows until Jimmy is reinstated.

Trump is now calling for nonviolence. How long before he changes his tune?

Or he knows more about the suspect than we do and he wants to get ahead of it since it contradicts what they’ve been saying all day.

asked Trump: “How do you want your supporters to respond to this? Charlie Kirk was a big advocate of nonviolence and free speech on campus. How do you want your supporters to respond, sir?”

The president echoed the reporter’s words, saying: “I think that way. He was. He was an advocate of nonviolence. That’s the way I’d like to see people respond.”

The White House quickly posted the exchange on social media, perhaps hoping to tamp down anger that has already spilled into violence, with the beating of a critic of Kirk in Boise, Idaho, during a vigil on Wednesday night.

ABC/ESPN Monday Night Football showing a beautiful sunset over the Chicago skyline. Not a hellscape.

Trump and MAGA have been badmouthing Chicago for years, painting it as a mix of Gotham and Baghdad.

Any chance these images might get them to realize they've been lied to this whole time?

Nah. But enjoy the game.

China and India pledge to be 'partners not rivals'

Source: BBC

The leaders of China and India say there is now deepening trust between them after years of tension that includes a long-running border dispute.

China's President Xi Jinping and Indian PM Narendra Modi met on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) in the port city of Tianjin. It is Modi's first time in China in seven years.

Xi told Modi that China and India should be partners, not rivals while Modi said there was now an "atmosphere of peace and stability" between them.

President Putin is also at the summit, attended by more than 20 world leaders, but this year overshadowed by trade wars with the US.

Jimmy Kimmel Says He Obtained Italian Citizenship to Flee 'Unbelievably' Bad Trump Administration

Jimmy Kimmel Says He Obtained Italian Citizenship to Flee ‘Unbelievably’ Bad Trump Administration
By Andre Gee
August 12, 2025

Jimmy Kimmel‘s dislike of President Donald Trump seems to have reached an inflection point. The late-night host has felt so dismayed by the administration’s fascist policies that he’s set up a bit of a contingency plan to flee the country altogether if need be. During a recent appearance on The Sarah Silverman podcast, Kimmel informed his ex and fellow comedian that an intercontinental move may be in store after he obtained his Italian citizenship.

“A lot of people I know are thinking about, where are they going to get citizenship?” Silverman said. Kimmel replied, “I did get Italian citizenship,” noting, “What’s going on [with Trump] is as bad as you thought it was gonna be. It’s so much worse; it’s just unbelievable. I feel like it’s probably even worse than he would like it to be.”

Well that's not concerning...
