In size, Ukraine is slightly smaller than Texas.

From Google:

Ukraine is slightly smaller than Texas, coming in at 233,031 square miles while Texas sits at 268,597 square miles. When the borders for the post-Soviet Union countries were drawn in 1991, Ukraine became the second largest country in Europe. It is twice the size of Italy and 2 1/2 times the size of the United Kingdom.

Fixing A Hole

Do you ever get the feeling that Vladimir Putin is running scared?

That he is afraid of being exposed for something that would destroy his position as CEO of the world's largest criminal enterprise?

What could it be? What would he never want to be made public?

In my opinion, he and Trump were in on a grand conspiracy to destroy democracy in America, weaken NATO in Europe, and bring Ukraine back under the wing of Russia.

Also, they conspired to steal the presidency in 2016.

Although the evidence has not been made public, there are people that know, in my opinion.

And for some reason, that scares Putin very much.

This is only a hunch and an opinion. I have no facts to back it up.

UN Assembly votes to demand that Russia stop war in Ukraine

Two days ago, by a vote of 141-5, the UN Assembly voted to demand Russia stop its war in Ukraine.

This would not be the first time the UN has voted against Russia at the United Nations. They voted that they, and all foreign countries, withdraw from Afghanistan in 1980. So, it is not a new concept.

If Russia refuses to withdraw, the UN should send peacekeeping forces into that country to create a buffer from the Russian aggression. This seems to be the most viable option at this time. NATO forces are not politically capable of acting, for fear of expanding the war.

The UN needs to show leadership at this time, in my opinion.

The damage shown in Kharkiv does not look like rockets or missile damage...

It looks like the damage from large bombs. It is too devastating for rockets or missiles.

What weapons are they using on these people?

There are war crimes being committed. Not only by Vladimir Putin, but by his Generals and military leaders also. They need to know that eventually they will be held accountable, no different than the Nazi leaders from WWII.

They are a threat to the world. They are a danger to us all.

They must be stopped.

What's keeping Donald from calling Vlad?

Why doesn't he use his "stable genius" skills and call up Putin? I'm sure he has his phone number.

Maybe he could do something for his country for just once?

But everyone knows he is too small of a man to do anything that might help someone else.

He is too busy criticizing our country and all of our "stupid" leaders.

Maybe Mark Meadows will loan him his phone?

Trump fired Barr on the spot !

Told him to not go back to his office, but to go home!

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10574785/Bill-Barr-says-Trump-fired-spot-said-election-fraud-claims-bulls.html

Barr describes more than one loud confrontation with Trump in his forthcoming memoir about working in the White House, One Damn Thing After Another

In an interview he described the moment he offered to resign, after noting Trump was 'angry' over his refusal to accept election fraud claims

'Boom!' Trump slammed his hand on his desk and said 'Accepted' when Barr offered to leave.

It was a stunning end for Barr, whose efforts to summarize the Mueller report were seen as aiding Trump's cause in avoiding consequences.

How a Country Joins NATO (and Why Putin Cares)

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2022-03-02/russia-says-forces-captured-port-city-kherson-ukraine-update

1. Has Ukraine formally requested admission to NATO?

Yes. Ukraine applied to join in 2008. That was just before a summit in Bucharest, when NATO said that Ukraine and Georgia would join the alliance -- but without setting a specific date. Georgia has also applied for admission. So has Bosnia-Herzegovina, though there is too much domestic division there to make this a realistic prospect in the near future.

2. How many countries are in NATO?

Its membership has grown from 12 to 30 nations, with North Macedonia the most recent to join, in 2020. That increase reflects the fact that, since the end of the Cold War, NATO has come to represent an underlying partnership between North America and Europe based on shared political and economic values.

3. What does it take to join?

NATO countries have to be unanimous in welcoming a new member. Approval is pretty much a political decision, though NATO does spell out criteria that prospective new members should meet. These include a functioning democracy based on a market economy, fair treatment of minority populations and a commitment to resolve conflicts peacefully. The applicant needs to have an ability and willingness to make a military contribution to NATO operations. NATO has also made clear that having “unresolved external territorial disputes” weighs against being admitted, a consideration that gives Putin an edge, since Russian forces occupy internationally recognized parts of Georgia (Abkhazia and South Ossetia) and Ukraine (Crimea).

4. What’s the status of Ukraine’s request?

Officially, NATO stands by its 2008 pledge to admit Georgia and Ukraine once they meet the criteria, with no consensus on when that might be. Some NATO members, including Poland and Baltic states Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania, would sign up Ukraine tomorrow if they could. But Germany and France in particular insist that as long as Russian troops are in Ukraine, membership is not going to happen. For now, Ukraine is one of NATO’s “enhanced opportunity partners,” a status afforded non-member nations that have “made significant contributions to NATO-led operations and missions.” NATO says it aims to maintain and deepen cooperation with such partners. Other nations with this status are Australia, Finland, Georgia, Jordan and Sweden.
