Do the "speedy trial" requests help or hurt the defense or the prosecution?

It is the right of each defendant, including Trump, to ask for a "speedy trial". However, it does not seem to help Trump's effort to delay the case.

Perhaps some of the defendants may think it would be beneficial to them? So far, only Kenneth Cheseboro and Sidney Powell have requested a "speedy trial".

The DA Fani Willis is attempting to accommodate their requests.

How will it affect the other defendants ability to defend themselves?

It is a complex legal situation that no one has totally figured out at this time.

My gut, which does not have a law degree, tells me that it may be for the best to go ahead and get the ball rolling.

Leaving On A Jet Plane

August 25, 2023

Many of those that attacked our Capitol on January 6th thought it was a blast.

It was fun!

They waved their huge flags, took photos with their phones, and bragged to their friends about what they had done.

They did not think they did anything wrong. They still do not think so to this day.

They were just going along with the crowd. They were following their leader. They never imagined that they would ever be charged with a crime.

But many went to jail and they still believe they are victims. They had a right to be in the Capitol.

But, it got out of hand and they were caught up in the violence.

All they wanted was for Trump to stay in the White House for four more years.

Was that so wrong?

It's rather sickening to watch a former president act like some king or royalty horseshit.

He has more protection and benefits than the president, it seems.

The cameras follow his convoy of Secret Service everywhere he goes. They hold an umbrella over his head as soon as he steps from his chauffeured SUV. They do everything except throw their jackets on the ground for him to stand on.

We fought a friggin' revolution to get rid of this type of privileged thinking. Americans that cheer this crap on turn my stomach.

It is all horseshit.

(edited "acting" to "interim" for clarification)

(edited because we only have one president - (needs no other clarifier)

If the election is held before any of the scheduled trials...?

..and Trump loses?

Would he blame his loss on all the negative attacks and witch hunts against him? I suppose he would.

But, would it make it easier to try him in court if he was the "loser" in the election?

I think that may be the direction we are headed.

The Defendant belongs in jail, but...

I doubt very much that he will ever spend a night in jail anywhere, anytime.

If it got to that point, he would make a deal.

Although he belongs in jail and I would like to see him behind bars, I must be content at the moment to see him charged and arrested, with a trial date set for his crimes against our people.

More than anything, I would want every case tried in a court with a jury decision on each case. I would want to see the truth exposed to the American people, most especially those that believe the Defendant has never lied to them.

Even then, there are those that will never accept any verdict against their Leader.

As the old song goes, you can't always get what you want.

Defendant Trump prefaces everything with a lie.

For example, he wanted to say a few words to the press and to his followers before he boarded his plane to fly back to his golf course in New Jersey.

First of all, he wanted everyone to know that he had "done nothing wrong". He had every right to "challenge" the votes in the election of 2020. He did and he did. But he went beyond taking it to the courts, which he did over 60 times. And he lost every time. He went beyond asking for a recount, which he did in AZ and GA (3 times). He used up all his legal challenges and he lost.

But he could not accept that so he resorted to more illegal means to keep control of power.

So, he lied yesterday.

He lies every damn time.

Why are Republicans so fearful of the jury system?

If they are innocent, do they think a jury of 12 of their peers will send them up the river?

Do they think juries are only for Democrats?

Why is Donald Trump fighting so hard to prevent a jury trial if he has "done nothing wrong"? Does he think the jury will not believe him?

Or are they afraid of the facts and the truth?

Why not just go to trial and prove your innocence and stop making a "Federal case" out of it?

They act guilty.

Because?

"I done nothing wrong".

So said the former president.

He says his political opponents are engaged in "election interference".

It was Joe Biden and his political cronies that attempted to steal the last election by calling election officials in several states and tried to get them to create fake electors to send to the electoral certification on January 6th. Joe Biden wanted the GA SoS to change the vote totals so that he could win the state of Georgia.

By hook or crook, Joe Biden was intent on stealing the last election. And he plans on doing it again.

Donald Trumps says that he "done nothing wrong".

Who are you going to believe? Trump or your own lying eyes?

Don't you think?

That if Trump "negotiated" his height and weight beforehand, then he probably negotiated his mugshot also?

It was all done to save time.

The facts will come out in a day or two, I suppose?
