Atticus
Atticus's JournalThe numerous accounts of Republicans bypassing the just-installed metal detectors just really
infuriates me. At least one Republican has boasted "I'm taking my Glock" to Congress. Another is a proud Qanon whack-job. The brief delay caused by putting your keys, coins, etc. into a tray and walking past the Magnetometer is entirely justified.
Entering any courthouse in Illinois requires that we go through the same type of security checkpoint, complete with metal detector. Whether you're just paying a traffic ticket or going to pay your property taxes, you have to go through the metal detector.
I have personally witnessed a guy getting "cuffed and stuffed" for persisting in trying to scoot past the security officer and into the building.
The arrogant asses now ignoring the security officers and telling them "You can't stop me!" should be detained and at least fined like those who refuse to wear masks.
Maybe just arrest them for "aggravated assholery".
So now Mitch "HATES" Trump? To quote "Charlie Babbit" in "Rain Man",
"And the hits just keep on comin'!"
When MAGAt's chant "USA! USA!", they just want everyone to know that they are
"Unbelievably Stupid Asses".
Trump's adult warning to Biden in view of the clamor for applying the 25th Amendment :
"I'm rubber---you're glue!
Bounces off me and sticks to you!"
( Neener-neener-neener! )
Where Is Santa Anna when we NEED him? nt
Congress requires pruning.
Those lucky enough to have fruit trees understand pruning. If you would have an apple tree, for example, that thrives, withstands storms and pests and produces maximum fruit, you have to occasionally---at least annually---cut away and discard some parts of the tree.
Some limbs are lopped off if they are broken; some if they are diseased and some simply because they are "going the wrong way". Failure to attend to necessary pruning will certainly result in a useless, unproductive eyesore that will die of interior rot.
Numerous Republicans need to be pruned from Congress if the "tree of liberty" they claim to be concerned about is to survive.
DO NOT buy the transparently ridiculous premise which most on the right are now trying to
glibly sell as a "given" before proceeding to plead for "bipartisanship" and "unity".
In so many words, they begin their blather with the presumption that what just happened was SOMETHING OTHER THAN an armed insurrection by a mob incited by Trump, Cruz, Hawley and their fellow fascist SOBs and aided and abetted by a SCOTUS justice's wife and about half of all elected Republicans. That is EXACTLY what happened!
"BULLSHIT!", said loudly and firmly, should cut off any attempts at "discussing where we go from here" that does not begin with some sort of acknowledgement of the above.
Buckle up.
"Christian", "patriot", "masculine", "Republican*"---just a few of the previously understood words
which, in the past for years, have either list all meaning or acquired a negative meaning.
*a negative even before Trump, but now considered truly despicable.
A "majority" of Americans believe Trump should be removed. That's depressing as hell.
ONLY 52%---ONLY 52 effing per cent!---believe this grotesque maniac should be evicted from the White House NOW!
The rest of this post as originally typed has been erased by me. It concerned the 48%.
Imagine how nasty that was-----------------nah, it was WAY worse than that.
Editor's comment for the "Q" folks writing on Parler: such stories usually begin
with "Once upon a time---".
You're welcome.
