Atticus's JournalDIDDLY SQUAT!
That, in my humble opinion, is what will be accomplished regarding the current "bipartisan" effort to pass "something" that could be called a "gun law"
I am sorry, but Democrats participating in this Kabuki theater "search for common ground" are not just wasting time, they are crediting the party STILL owned by the NRA with good faith when everyone knows they are simply hiding behind the pretense of "bipartisan discussions" until the midterms are in the rear view mirror.
We need EVERYTHING President Biden just detailed in his address, but getting 10 Senate Republicans to vote for legislation that would damage their NRA "report card" is just simply not going to happen.
If we want better gun laws, we need to elect more Democrats. Expecting anything else to work is unjustified nonsense.
More Republicans = more slaughtered school children and other innocents.
Every time we think that surely the MAGAvolk can't go any lower, one of them speaks from the
basement.
Apparently, a person cannot be too evil, too dishonest, too intolerant or too profoundly stupid to run for office as a "Republican". If they have name recognition, their own wealth or moneyed supporters and are willing to totally whore themselves out by kissing Trump's blubbery backside, they can count on at least a reasonable chance of being elected to Congress or a governor's mansion or---God Almighty.
Under indictment for insurrection? No problem.
An unabashed nazi fan? Sieg Heil, dude!
So stupid you think Trump is intelligent? Make America Great Again!
Three out of four MAGAvolk are just as disgusting as the other one.
"Vote for the crook. It's important!"
In 1991, those bumperstickers were used in Louisiana to urge a vote for Edwin Edward's for governor, even though he was widely believed to be corrupt. His opponent, you see, was former KKK Grand Wizard David Duke.
Then, everyone knew who "the crook" was---and who the racist was.
In today's Republican primaries, those bumperstickers would not help at all.
