Ruth Reichl tweets a very strange recipe Indeed

I'm trying not to bake.... but I'd love to know how this recipe comes out. Butterscotch Pudding cake with no eggs and very little fat.

They fed my addiction for Christmas

For a few years now I have coveted the Actifry which was only available in Europe. I have longly watched the youtubes of happy europeans making their gobs of chips in just one tablespoon of oil. I have satisfied myself knowing that I could of course do all that in the oven...Bah who needs this little UFO of kitchen joy?

My Yearly Lament

Every year just around this time I long for Thomas's Date Nut Bread. I troll the grocery stores hoping against hope that it will magically appear...But they just don't make it anymore.

Yes I know there are countless numbers of date nut bread recipes out there...from Aunt Martha's to the kind you bake in tomato soup cans. I have tried a number of them. They just aren't the same.

There was something about peeling that cellophane off the sticky sweet loaf...taking a whiff and smearing it with a healthy schmeer of Philly. Those days are gone ...and my daughter will never know that rapturous first bite....

So with that being said....Here's my gift link to you...

The Automat's Creamed Spinach Recipe. (just scroll down a bit)

I have a Threefer coming up

I'm cooking for Hanukkah, Christmas, and the Husbands Birthday.

Hanukkah is easy....I'm doing Usual Latkes...and a big fruit salad. I may bag out of Christmas and just hope they have pity on me and we can all go out for Chinese....I do have my eye on a crown roast I saw at the butcher though. Stuffed with my sausage and apple dressing....What could be better. I'll make a Tiramisu for the husbands birthday but he likes to go out for Mexican so that makes my life a bit easier. The days of cooking that Prime Rib the day after Christmas are long gone.....

My neighbor went crazy with garlic! HELP!

My neighbor had a bout of insanity and chopped up about 30 bulbs of garlic. I now have half a large gallon sized baggie of chopped garlic in the fridge. I don't know what the heck to do with it....I just know it can't stay there for long...It already reeks.

I dragged a pork shoulder out of the freezer....thawed in it the microwave then dressed it with fresh thyme, rosemary and greek oregano and the juice of 4 lemons. I threw another two preserved lemons into the mix for good measure. It's now cooking away in the little Nesco with a ton of chopped garlic. I figured I would drain it of pork juices at some point and fill it with some hunks of potatoes.

SO is making Hummus and tzatziki...Heavy on the garlic. I've heard of garlic soup...so I'm off to the google.

Any other suggestions on what to do with a ton of chopped garlic?

I'm safe from the Vampires for at least a month!
