THIS is how the nation could lose its national parks. Led by woman I ran against (with DU Love) 2016

Yvette Herrell Boasts Affiliation with Group That Wants to Take Away Protected Federal Land

Silver City, N.M. – In a bombshell recording, career politician Yvette Herrell admitted on tape what we already knew: she will put special interests over those of New Mexicans in order to get elected to higher office. In a private meeting with her supporters, Herrell boasted that her position on the national board of directors for the Koch Brothers-backed, DC-based American Legislative Exchange Council, or ALEC, would open opportunities for her in Washington, D.C.

While serving as a state chairperson for DC-based ALEC, she charged New Mexican taxpayers thousands of dollars to fly Herrell to out-of-state political events where far-right legislators conspire with big money interests to write big business’ dream legislation, like the transferring of millions of acres of federal public lands within New Mexico to the state, a bill that was introduced by Herrell in 2013.

“For someone who wants to ‘drain the swamp’ there's nothing swampier than bragging about your grand plan to get to Washington with taxpayer money AND special interest help,” said Joe Kabourek, Executive Director of the Democratic Party of New Mexico. “Herrell’s involvement with ALEC is disqualifying for a number of reasons, but especially because of the group’s aggressive efforts to transfer and privatize protected federal lands, which most New Mexicans oppose and would greatly harm people who live on tribal lands.”
Transcript:

“But I also wanted to be in a position to transition into a federal seat and I'm - I'm not saying I know all there is to know but I'm telling you this has given me an opportunity to understand the nuances of this district, the challenges both from a policy level on the state side of things and also from the federal level.
Um, I have great - I have great relationships in Washington and of course once Trump got into office, and we see this administration and this cabinet level group that he's appointed, it has been a huge benefit for New Mexico.
I am on the national board of directors for the American Legislative Exchange Council."

Other DUers going to Tornillo today

I’m on my way to Tornillo with two Alamogordo women friends to immigrant tent city, joining Rep Beto O’Rourke. Any ideas or advice?

DU supported my State Rep campaign in a fundamentalist, Repub county

I have trouble expressing my gratitude to DUer's because they supported my campaign in contributions and in 'cheerleader' support...especially pinboy3niner and OmahaSteve.

While I lost this race, I intend to run again. Not one Democrat has been elected in 22 years (or is it 24 now? I'm too tired to check!!) I am spearheading for other Dems to run...AND other DUers to run, please. Leave the electronics and RUN (if our nation still has elections in 2 years.) After the dust cleared, running was like a fountain of youth; I'm 65 right now. Join your local Democratic Party. Get your name on the ballot

DU's support was wildly inspiring and motivating. I love DU and missed you all so much.

Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you a million times.

Any DU love for me, running against an ALEC 'Star' in Otero County?

I'm running for NM State Representative against a Republican who has been in office since 2010. We have not had any Democrat elected to any partisan office in over 20 years. She was named an ALEC 'Star Representative'....thus, she is well funded and I have to be ready to respond with fierce opposition. I can't do that without funding for my campaign.

I'd love to see some DU support. I've been a member of DU since July 2003.

One can send a check made out to Committee to Elect Denise Lang to 2332 Union Ave Alamogordo, NM 88337 or donate through Act Blue via my website, ElectDeniseLang.com. Please 'Like' my campaign on Facebook, Elect Denise Lang.

I had my campaign launch and Primary Watch party on Tues....great turnout. Any Otero County DU'ers out there?

We've already walked the majority of one precinct, only 20 more to go!! We have doubled those who walk now and got many new volunteers on Tuesday.

As Thom Hartman said, "Tag, I'm IT."

I intend to run against ALEC Legislative Star and want lots of DU + help

On March 3, I will file to run for State Rep District #51 against Yvette Herrell, who is being groomed to be our next US Congress critter.
I am a low tech (have never texted or used a smart phone) person, and there has not been a Democrat elected in any office in our county in over 25 years...so I'm not expected to win, but I can raise issues. I am on Social Security, food stamps, LIHEAP and Medicare/Medicaid...but I have been named a Woman of Merit and put into a book Legends of Alamogordo for my activism (pro-choice: and I've posted pictures of our 'We Trust Women Commemoration & Celebration of Roe V Wade' on DU, anti-drug war and pro-tax, regulate, legalize cannabis, Co-Producer of Vagina Monologues, have taken books to our jail & half-way houses since 2007, have been NAACP Treasurer (I'm 65, white) on DU, etc.

I am clueless, but too pissed to allow this destructive, but nice (!) woman to run unopposed. HELP! I am already in over my head. I asked for help with a logo from a friend's son...how can I help DU help me?

About duhneece

I'm running for New Mexico State Senate District #33. I ran for NM State Representative 4 years ago and feel more of a need to run, to pick up votes up and down ballot for Democrats in my state and at the national level. My DU family provided much support 4 years ago (much with the help of our beloved Pinboy3niner) and I know I can count on support now. We're in this together. I have received the endorsements/support of Planned Parenthoood Votes New Mexico; AFSCME American Federation of State, County & Municipal Employees; NEA National Education Association of New Mexico; AFT-NM American Federation of Teachers New Mexico; Sierra Club; and named a Gun Sense Candidate by Moms Demand Action. I was concerned in my interviews as I shared that I was running a Combined Campaign to elect Democrats up and down ballot, that I would not provide only my campaign information but always include information for (especially, because she is in a very tight race) US Congresswoman Xochitl Torres Small, President Biden and all the local state senate, state representatives, county clerk, treasurer and commissioner. I worked hard to get a full ballot of Democrats, first time in over 25 years. https://secure.actblue.com/donate/committee-to-elect-denise-lang-browne-1
