My Daughter Passed Her Nursing Boards Today.

Previously: http://www.democraticunderground.com/1018618145

I can't wait to get home to see her, these last two months of her doing review have been brutal on her.

When she called me after the exam was over and she got her results she was crying so hard I thought she had failed at first, but it was due to sheer relief at passing.

I don't know who was happier she had passed, her or me. I was on pins an needles all day waiting for that phone call.

All along as I was telling her she knew her stuff and not to sweat it, she would nail that test no problem, I had butterflies the size of B-52's flying around my stomach.

Not anymore, woot!

Shameless Thread Bragging On My Nephew.

My sister's son is an assistant professor at Syracuse of classic Spanish literature and is also a researcher of early Spanish playwrights. He wrote his doctoral dissertation on the works of the 17th century Spanish playwright and poet Félix Arturo Lope de Vega y Carpio.

Lope de Vega was a prolific playwright who is considered to be the Spanish Shakespeare. It is thought that he wrote over 1300 plays of which only 300 have survived.

Last year while doing further research in Barcelona at the Spanish National Library on the author and other playwrights and poets, my nephew discovered a comedic play previously thought to be lost, "Women and Servants", written by Lope de Vega circa 1613-1614.

The story takes place in Madrid and stars two sisters, Violante and Luciana, and their lovers, Claridán and Teodoro, one a waiter and the other the secretary of Count Próspero.

These two couples, whose love for each other remains secret, find their relationships put to a test with the appearance of two new suitors: Count Próspero himself, who chases after Luciana, and the rich Don Pedro, who courts Violante with the approval of her father.

This initial scene leads to a game of hide-and-seek and confused identities in which Luciana must intervene to stay close to her lover. These entanglements give way to several very comical scenes, and the house in which they occur becomes a place where all actors are at the mercy of the tricks played by the two women and their lovers.

Today, for the first time in over three centuries the play "Women and Servants" was performed before a live audience.

Go ahead, ask me!

I am busting with pride, I am just so happy for her!

She worked and studied \so hard to earn her degree in nursing, I just can't help but brag on her just a bit...to everyone I can!

What Deal Did Christie Offer Bridge Anne KellY?

No way should it have taken Christie twenty-four hours to fire her, she should have been gone by 5:00 yesterday afternoon.

I wonder if her deal includes all her looming legal bills being covered, if she takes the fall and does time her personal finances get taken care of while incarcerated, and what type of no-show job she'll get with a political backer when she gets out.

Oldest Son Just Called, My Second Grandchild Just Arrived.

My son and daughter-in-law had their first child, a baby boy, at 1349 DST.

Mother and child both doing fine, they hadn't even weighed or measured my new grandson yet.

Baby Anthony was born on my grandfather's birthday, December 19, which made my own father very, very happy.

My parents now have eighteen great-grandchildren, and my mother is now all puffed-up with pride.

I Fervently Hope That Mr. Obama Takes This Good Negotiating Advice From...Willy Wonka.

After the Republicans finally sober up enough to realize they are getting their asses kicked senseless by the media and completely pissing off the entire voting public, then must come crawling back begging for a compromise from Mr. Obama realizing they created a political disaster that only the president can fix for them...

Need help identifying this weed, I've tried google...

Damn stuff is all over the back lot, pretty tough to kill. I cut it down, it grows back like a weed.

Once a month I pull it all out and burn it in the fire pit, but when I wake up the next day, there are a couple of hundred Deadheads camped out in my yard, and it's a pain in the ass to shoo them all away without having to buy something tie-died, and that stuff ain't cheap.

And the drumming keeps me up all night.

Help.
