Hey! I'm looking for some coverage of Ukraine's Military Defense.

My main source of info so far about pending invasion is from the NY Times. While there seem to be many pictures of Russian Tanks, Missile carriers, Fighter jets, helicopters etc. all I've seen of Ukraine's capabilities are pictures of individual soldiers in WW I like trenches. No equipment ie: Trucks, tanks, Howitzers, jets, helicopters...nothing...not even groups of more than 10 guys standing in the same area. There was a picture of some Florida national guardsmen getting ready to leave and some movies of some training with anti tank bazooka like weapons.....but again not too many troops and no equipment.

So has anybody seen anything different that would lead them to think there will even be a fight?

Just got an interesting spam attempt...thought I'd share:

Email from known sender says they were sharing a message in Dropbox..click on link. This link sent me to a sort of official looking Dropbox page which asked me to sign in using one of about 6 possibilities...for example, YahooMail, Amazon, facebook, AOL, outlook.... etc.

Apparently the page wanted me to divulge my password to one of these to get to a dropbox message.

Did not buy it. Went to my Dropbox account which hasn't been active since 2014. No message for me there.

Whaduya think?

Now we are learning there is NO way the GOP can stop a Justice appointment!

Got the wrong story, so sorry and thanks so much DU for setting me straight. As stated below, apparently, unless a Democrat Senator along the way doesn't go with Biden's pick, a stalemate in the Judicial Committee and full support from the 50 Democratic Senators will confirm his nominee...Ya-Hoo!

My speculation on why Breyer chose right now to announce retirement:

He just returned from the meeting where all the justices state their positions on the Mississippi abortion case. He came to realize that the Trump appointees are actually going to overturn Roe vs. Wade after it being the law for almost 50 years. He can see the writing on the wall that should the Democrats lose the Senate in November, there may be no possibility of keeping his seat a liberal voice on the court, moving the return to sanity on the bench even further into the future. A political move? You betcha.

Whadayu think?

My Memory of Martin Luther King.

In 1964, a small group of friends from high school became interested in current events of the time and we found various events to attend in order to get informed about WTF was going on. We had been aware of the Freedom Riders' movement working to open up public transportation to everybody equally. Of course we had heard of the marches for voting rights...the songs about "Overcoming" and Selma, Alabama. We learned that Martin Luther King was to give a talk at a local church in a "Colored" part of St. Louis and we decided to go and see the news-maker in person. There were 3 or maybe 5 of us 17 year old privileged white guys. We stood out a bit in the pews of the packed to standing room only church, but felt welcome...to say the least. As it turned out, no one broke into our car or harassed us on the street in that 'dangerous" part of town but Dr. King and his right hand man, Ralph Abernathy did steal our hearts and minds. Thank goodness no one in most of the schools at that time were talking about banning "Critical Race Theory" but rather were encouraging students in their quest for TRUTH.

Help...Dell Inspiron 15 3000 troubles. Windows 10. 2017

Maybe someone knows about this.

Computer boots. Shows picture with space to enter password. Go to type password. Nothing happens!

Did remove battery, drain remaining power and restart thing...nothing different.

First guess is Keyboard, as touch pad does move courser around, but no key works.

Went to BIOS to load default settings. Keyboard courser control arrow keys work as does ENTER key...so maybe not keyboard.

Placed memory stick with recovery in USB port...lights up...restarted but nothing comes up...just goes to picture with password space...etc.

Am thinking remove hard drive and see if it plays using my USB adapter in my other computer.

Is there a way around the password screen?

Any ideas as to what to try next would be much appreciated.

How hard do you think the Kenosha DA was going to work to get Kyle convicted...

After refusing to even charge the officer who shot Blake 7 times at point blank range, in the back? The officer was clearly not in any danger while, one could argue, Rittenhouse certainly was. Of course, Rittenhouse brought his own danger with him but the state seemed to want to overlook that. Was there even a question about how Rittenhouse would have a gun with him. If I want to avoid background checks, do I simply have a friend buy a gun for me? Was there one question about who gets to ignore a curfew and who doesn't?

New Tee shirt time....why not?

To go with my open carry AR15:

I'M SCARED SHIT-LESS THAT YOU ARE A DANGER! STAY BACK 10 FEET.

RE: Rittenhouse, Self Defense, and Provocation.

If I'm reading correctly, the following scenario the shooter would be successful in claiming self defense.

1. Police stops driver for undetermined offense.

2. Police approach car with gun at ready, aimed at driver. (See George Floyd videos).

3. Driver has legal, registered firearm on seat next to him.

4. Driver, seeing his life was in danger, unable to retreat as he was sitting in car and could not move out of Policeman's aim or range, picks up gun and kills Policeman.

Legal, self defense in Wisconsin? State has to prove he wasn't self defending?
