Defenders and Jessica Jones season 2 will be filmed back to back, says Krysten Ritter

Jessica Jones herself, Krysten Ritter, has revealed that Netflix's The Defenders will be filmed "back to back" this year against her own second solo series.

The actress even hinted that any character from the Marvel Universe could make a cameo in the next instalment of Jessica Jones. Yes - any character.....

Imminent mini-super-series The Defenders was announced last month, and will feature an ensemble cast of Jessica, Luke Cage (Mike Colter), Daredevil (Charlie Cox) and Iron Fist (Finn Jones).

Filming hasn't yet started on either series, but…

"They'll be back-to-back. I don't know if they'll overlap a little bit," said Ritter.

"It's about to be a serious undertaking. I'm starting my physical training - lots of weight training and boxing."

As for Luke Cage's own solo outing on Netflix? It's just another cog in the Marvel wheel shrouded in secrecy, says Ritter.

"Marvel have this grand plan. Luke Cage will come out, then Iron Fist. In terms of scheduling I don't know how it will all come out and I can't even tell you if I've filmed Luke Cage.

Why Did Bernie Sanders Cancel a High-Profile Meeting With AIDS Activists?

But there seems to be something else going on with regard to the cancellation of the meeting with the AIDS activists. The campaign was on top of the issue soon after Clinton’s comments, after all, exploiting them to make gains with a politically-active constituency that could help in New York and the Northeast. It’s an issue that has enormous potential to underscore the deep problems in America’s health care system and why universal health care, Sanders’ signature plan, is needed more than ever.

So to just cancel the meeting, and not even make a big effort at damage control, seems to be an admission that focusing on the issue, or any issue in a granular way that takes time and resources, is no longer important. When he’s not insisted that he’s still in this to win the nomination, Sanders has in recent weeks talked about looking to get as many delegates as possible heading into the convention, desiring an influence on shaping the party platform.

The cancellation of the meeting seems an indication, no matter what he and his campaign say, that Sanders knows the race is over and that he’s lost. He should then admit that or allude to it in more overt ways and bring people together, rather than both keep his supporters believing he can win (while they attack his opponent, sometimes in destructive ways), and harming his own reputation by actions such as canceling this important meeting and offering no explanation.

Does BS realize that California is not the only state voting on June 7?

The BS campaign plans to win the nomination by doing well in California. Did they forget that New Jersey, DC and New Mexico are voting that day, too? Do they think they are going to win enough delegates from my state to cancel losing elsewhere?

Why Donald Trump's Personal Attacks Against Hillary Clinton Could Backfire

If Trump aims to improve his standing among women, some other polling history suggests attacking Clinton for her husband’s misdeeds is misguided. Gallup recorded what remains its highest-ever approval rating for Hillary Clinton in the immediate wake of her husband’s impeachment, with her favorability topping 67% in December 1998. The marks suggested that the then-First Lady, frequently a polarizing force during her husband’s administration, had suddenly become a sympathetic figure — and that the public perceived her as a victim, rather than an enabler, of her husband’s behavior.

Support for Clinton rivaled but never surpassed that mark four years ago during the closing months of her term as Secretary of State. Since then, however, her numbers have tumbled precipitously, with a mere 39% now viewing her favorably while 55% disapprove. Indeed, only Trump’s unpopularity outstrips Clinton’s, setting up what promises to be an ugly, attritional general election campaign between the two most disliked nominees in modern history.

By focusing on one of the rare historical moments that a supermajority of Americans actually liked Hillary Clinton, Trump looks primed to shoot himself in the foot.

Bernie Sanders ditches promised meeting with HIV activists

Bernie Sanders has cancelled a meeting with HIV advocates his campaign affirmed days before the crucial New York Democratic primary he would attend, according to the activists who sought to arrange the meeting.

The 30-minute meeting between Sanders and HIV advocates was set for May 13 in Indianapolis. Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton also agreed to meet the activists, who say they’re are still on track to meet with her Thursday for one hour in New York City.

Hilary McQuie, director of U.S. policy and grassroots mobilization for the HIV/AIDS group Health GAP, told the Blade the Sanders campaign cancelled the meeting without explanation.

“He did cancel — no reason given and they have not rescheduled,” McQuie said. “We feel a bit burned by the bern, and hope they will answer our emails now.”

Peter Staley, a New York-based gay rights and HIV advocate, told the Blade HIV advocates before the unexpected cancellation were in daily contact with the Sanders campaign.

“They sent a ‘need to reschedule’ email last Sunday (for our Tuesday meeting), and then bizarrely stopped communications completely after that,” Staley said. “We’ve been emailing and calling every day since then, including warning them days ago about our intent to go public.”

According to a statement announcing the cancellation from the Brooklyn-based HIV and homeless advocacy group Housing Works, attendees were informed on April 30 the Sanders meeting was cancelled, which was two days after many of them purchased expensive, last-minute plane ticket to attend the event. Although the Sanders campaign promised to “reschedule” as soon as possible, it has yet to propose a new date, time or city, the statement says.

McCain on Trump: 'Foolish' to ignore will of GOP voters

(CNN)Sen. John McCain is chastising GOP leaders for failing to embrace Donald Trump as the choice of millions of voters, laying out his most extensive views to date about Trump at the top of the ticket. He's also repudiating some of the presumptive nominee's comments -- particularly about prisoners of war.

In a wide-ranging "State of the Union" interview in his campaign office in Phoenix, McCain criticized party leaders who are reluctant to back Trump, saying they are "out of step" with voters who have chosen the controversial businessman as the GOP standard-bearer. He defended Trump for being a strong and "capable" leader, particularly on foreign policy. He called on Trump to choose a running mate who could "unite the party," possibly Iowa Sen. Joni Ernst, even as he strongly defended his 2008 choice of Sarah Palin.
But he also urged Trump to "retract" his criticisms of prisoners of war while blasting Trump's personal attacks during the primary campaign as off-putting.

"Frankly, I have never seen the personalization of a campaign like this one, where people's integrity and character are questioned," said McCain, the veteran senator of nearly 30 years and his party's 2008 presidential nominee. "It bothers me a lot. Because you can almost violently disagree with an issue, but to attack their character and their integrity -- then those wounds take a long time to heal."

Asked if Trump should continue calling Hillary Clinton "corrupt Hillary," McCain said: "Well, I wouldn't, but I'm not one to tell him how to campaign except on the part of uniting the party."

Susan Sarandon Pins Hopes For Bernie Sanders Win on Hillary Clinton Having ‘Health Issues’

Even as the sands run out of the Bernie Sanders campaign’s delegate hourglass, the upstart Democratic presidential candidate’s surrogates continue to hope for an outcome that results in Sanders becoming the nominee instead of Hillary Clinton. One of Sanders’ most vocal and vociferous surrogates has now taken those hopes to a dark place. In a recent interview with Larry King, Oscar-winning actress Susan Sarandon said she’s still not ready to say she would vote for Hillary over Donald Trump, and told King that she’d “see what happens.”

Asked what could happen to give Bernie the nomination, here’s what Sarandon said:

So many things. She could have health issues. She could not get the nomination.

Just got back from 'Captain America: Civil War' (NO SPOILERS)

Best comic book adaptation I've ever seen. Don't let 'Batman vs Superman' (which I actually liked) keep you away because it's a very different movie. Baron Zemo is a much better villain than critics give credit for. Tom Holland (Spider Man), Chawick Boseman (Black Panther) and Elizabeth Olsen (Scarlet Witch) stole the show. Robert Downey, Jr. and Don Cheadle are starting to show their ages (as we all are these days).

'Captain America: Civil War' Beats 'Batman v Superman' In Box Office Open

Capitain America: Civil War got off to a huge start in theaters this weekend, raking in a staggering $181.8 million in domestic markets. Including international markets, where the film has been out since April 27, Marvel’s latest offering has brought in an earth-shattering $678 million in total revenue.

The film came just $10 million shy of beating Avengers: Age of Ultron’s opening weekend, while making nearly double that of Captain America: Winter Soldier’s $95 million opening. Civil War has comfortably earned back its big budget of $250 million.

Civil War’s grand opening beat out DC’s Batman v Superman, which opened at just $166 million.

The film marks the debut of Spider-Man into the Marvel cinematic universe (or MCU), , a range of connected films and TV shows that chronicles the Marvel superheroes and villains. The character is one of the world’s most beloved heroes in the Marvel canon, and Captain America: Civil War will lay the groundwork for a new solo Spider-Man film expected to debut in 2017.

Critics have loved Civil War. The film currently holds a 91 percent “certified fresh” rating on Rotten Tomatoes. “Captain America: Civil War begins the next wave of Marvel movies with an action-packed superhero blockbuster boasting a decidedly non-cartoonish plot and the courage to explore thought-provoking themes,” the consensus reads.
