It's official. Hillary is the nominee

Now let's get Trump.

Prediction: Bernie will drop out if POTUS endorses Hillary

The Sanders campaign will finally understand the futility of fighting on when they see the party coalesce around Hillary.

Clinton’s New Formula For Trump: Sharp, Stately And A Heap Of Mockery

The trial balloons were meant to see how the nicknames were received and whether they miraculously stuck. But they also seemed to highlight a problem vexing the Clinton camp: mainly, how to balance the need to seem presidential with the demands (perhaps enticements) of mudslinging at The Donald.

“I think you have to run your campaign in a way that is honest of who you are and what you are promising the American people you are going to do,” said Clinton’s top strategist, Joel Benenson. “I don’t think that precludes being very aggressive in exposing a demagogue and a divisive character in Donald Trump.”

In a speech on Thursday, Clinton seemed to find that balance, dipping between a broad outline and defense of her geopolitical worldview and biting mockery of her likely opponent.

“Donald Trump says we shouldn’t have done the [Iran] deal. We should have walked away. But that would have meant no more global sanctions, and Iran resuming their nuclear program and the world blaming us. So then what? War?” she said at one point, in reference to the international agreement to limit and monitor Iran’s nuclear program. Soon after, she offered this: “Of course Trump doesn’t have answers to those questions. Donald Trump doesn’t know the first thing about Iran or its nuclear program. Ask him. It’ll become very clear, very quickly. There’s no risk of people losing their lives if you blow up a golf course deal.”

This was not so much a foreign policy address, as it was billed, as a prologue to the general election. And a timely one at that.

Benenson and other aides haven’t disguised the fact that they’re still finding the right footing as they gingerly move away from the Democratic primary. But for them, Thursday’s speech showed a formula that can work. It certainly appeared to have calmed preternaturally skittish Democrats, who have looked on in horror as Trump has made a show of it in recent polls. It also drew compliments from veterans of the Obama administration, perhaps the only entity with notable success in downsizing Trump (see: White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner, 2011).

Sanders: Don't look at Puerto Rico. Look at My Rallies

Bernie Sanders is making no mention of the outcome of Puerto Rico's Democratic primary, but says the party's leaders should notice the "energy and grassroots activism" surrounding his campaign.

Hillary Clinton won a decisive victory in Puerto Rico on Sunday, putting her within striking distance of capturing her party's nomination.

Sanders is seeking an upset in Tuesday's California primary. He said at a Sunday evening rally in San Diego that Democratic leaders should realize his campaign has the energy to win in the fall, not Clinton.

CNN: Hillary will be the Democratic nominee.

Washington (CNN)Hillary Clinton will win the Puerto Rico Democratic primary, according to a CNN projection, putting her on the cusp of clinching the party's presidential nomination.

Clinton is not expected to win all 60 delegates that were at stake Sunday, which would have put her over the top in the nomination battle against rival Bernie Sanders. She remains shy of the 2,383 she needs to win the Democratic nomination.

Clinton is closing in on a historic nomination as the first female presidential nominee with one more round of states -- California, New Jersey, New Mexico, South Dakota and Montana -- set to vote Tuesday. Her nomination would become official during the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia.

She'll become the first-ever female nominee of a major political party.

Bernie Sanders Campaign Is Split Over Whether to Fight on Past Tuesday

A split is emerging inside the Bernie Sanders campaign over whether the senator should stand down after Tuesday’s election contests and unite behind Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton, or take the fight all the way to the July party convention and try to pry the nomination from her.

One camp might be dubbed the Sandersistas, the loyalists who helped guide Mr. Sanders’s political ascent in Vermont and the U.S. Congress and are loath to give up a fight that has far surpassed expectations. Another has ties not only to Mr. Sanders but to the broader interests of a Democratic Party pining to beat back the challenge from Republican Donald Trump and make gains in congressional elections.

Mr. Sanders in recent weeks has made clear he aims to take his candidacy past the elections on Tuesday, when California, New Jersey and four other states vote. But the debate within the campaign indicates that Mr. Sanders’s next move isn’t settled.

There couldn't possibly be an easier call than this.

It's official. The Virgin Islands do not count.

In 2010 the U.S. Virgin Islands had a population of 106,405

Tourism is the primary economic activity. The islands normally host 2 million visitors a year, many of whom visit on cruise ships. Additionally, the islands frequently are a starting point for private yacht charters to the neighboring British Virgin Islands.

hmm.. small population dependent on the wealth of others.

Sanders campaign accuses L.A. city councilman of blocking event at Greek

Sen. Bernie Sanders’ presidential campaign has accused a Los Angeles city councilman who backs Hillary Clinton of obstructing his effort to stage a weekend campaign event at the city-owned Greek Theatre in the Hollywood Hills.

The campaign sent an announcement to supporters Friday saying its plan for staging a get-out-the-vote concert at the Greek had been abandoned and relocated to the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum Olympic Plaza in South Los Angeles. The campaign also suggested that favoritism was being shown to the campaign of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who has her own event planned at the Greek on Monday.

“Unfortunately, after reaching terms with the professional staff at the Greek to host our rally, interference from a local Los Angeles city councilman forced us to move from this iconic venue, even though Secretary Clinton has scheduled an identical event two days later — an event to which no objection has been raised,” the Sanders campaign message said.

A Sanders campaign aide was more explicit in an email to the Greek, saying that Councilman David Ryu, who represents the Greek and the surrounding neighborhood, had set up “roadblocks” that caused the venue to be changed. Ryu has endorsed Clinton and attended a fundraiser for her last month in Koreatown.

Ryu spokesman Estevan Montemayor called those messages “an inaccurate depiction of the last 24 hours” — saying the councilman’s office had been trying to help the campaign stage a successful event. Sanders’ campaign did not have a ticketing system or a plan for addressing traffic congestion, which is required of every group that holds a rally or concert at the Greek, Montemayor said.

“Any person or organization that chooses to have an event at the Greek Theatre needs to follow all the same guidelines," Montemayor said. “The Sanders campaign was asked to work with L.A. city staff on a traffic mitigation plan and a ticketing system, just as the Clinton campaign has done for their event on Monday evening. The Sanders campaign chose not to move forward, all while the city held resources for tomorrow’s event.”
