Richard Donner Dies: 'Superman', 'Lethal Weapon' And 'The Goonies' Director Was 91

Richard Donner, the prolific Hollywood director and producer whose helming credits include some of the most iconic movies of the 1970s and ’80s including the Christopher Reeve-starring Superman, The Goonies and the Mel Gibson-Danny Glover buddy cop series Lethal Weapon, has died. He was 91.

Donner died Monday, according to his wife, the producer Lauren Schuler Donner, and his business manager. No cause of death has been revealed.

The Bronx-born Donner, a genial man with a booming voice, started his career directing for television, like his film credits a laundry list of staple shows including Route 66, The Rifleman, The Twilight Zone, The Man From U.N.C.L.E., Gilligan’s Island, Perry Mason and The Wild Wild West. After his debut feature, the 1968 crime comedy Salt & Pepper starring Sammy Davis Jr. and Peter Lawford, and 1969’s Lola with Charles Bronson and Susan George, Donner segued to films full time with 1976’s spooky The Omen.

That led to 1978’s Superman, the original superhero movie that starred Reeve as the Man of Steel along with Margot Kidder, Marlon Brando and Gene Hackman. The Warner Bros blockbuster with a budget of about $55 million grossed more than $300 million at the global box office. The first movie tentpole based on a superhero comic character, it scored three Oscar nominations and won a special Academy Award for its visual effects. It also cast the die for the superhero franchise now dominated by the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the DC Universe of films.

Matt Gaetz comes out of the KKKloset

Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) suggested recently that Russia has a military advantage over the United States because the country's white people don't feel guilty about racism.

In comments made to The Spectator, Gaetz seemed to be annoyed by Gen. Mark Milley, who schooled the congressman in a hearing last month about the importance of studying critical race theory (CRT) and "white rage."

"Nobody in Russia is quivering over their 'white rage' — whatever that is,' Gaetz said. "In China, they spend money modifying submarines, not the genders of service-members."

"And I'm going to battle against this," he continued. "Only a Benedict Arnold would surrender the Pentagon to the Woketopia without a fight."

Judge Denies Britney Spears' Request to Remove Father From Conservatorship

A judge has shot down Britney Spears’ request to have her father removed from her conservatorship.

New court documents that were filed by the Los Angeles Superior Court on Wednesday show that the judge has denied the request by Spears’ attorney, Samuel Ingham III, to remove her father, Jamie Spears, as her sole conservator.

“The conservator’s request to suspend James P. Spears immediately upon the appointment of Bessemer Trust Company of California as sole conservator of estate is denied without prejudice,” the court documents state.

Samuel Ingham III had filed the request to remove Spears’ father back in November 2020, stating that his client was “afraid of her father” and would refuse to perform again, if her father continued to be in charge of her career. At that time, Judge Brenda Penny declined to suspend her father from the conservatorship, though she did not rule out future petitions for his removal or suspension. Also, at that time, the judge appointed financial company Bessemer Trust as a co-conservator.
