"There's no question that Trump will hurt Blunt," Warren said. "A lot of Republicans just do not support Trump, particularly the more educated, more metropolitan Republicans who will not turn out. If fewer Republican voters show up and vote for the Republican ticket, it's essentially negative coattails."

Dems flooded with vulgar, suspicious messages following online data dump
House Democratic leaders on Saturday urged members to upgrade their security as staffers were flooded with vulgar, malicious emails and texts following a massive online dump of their contact information late Friday -- the latest fallout of a series of election-season cyberattacks primarily targeting the Democratic Party.
Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, calling the incident a "sad course of events," wrote in a note to colleagues that she was changing her phone number and advised colleagues to do the same. An email from the Democratic Caucus told members and staffers whom to contact to do so.
“I was in the air flying from Florida to California when the news broke,” Pelosi wrote. “Upon landing, I have received scores of mostly obscene and sick calls, voice mails and text messages.”
Other aides told POLITICO that overnight they received dozens, even hundreds of spear phishing-style emails and texts, which are fake messages that lure recipients into clicking on malware-laded links, possibly infecting the entire device.

Rubio's Lead in Florida Evaporates as GOP Struggles to Overcome Trump Slump
Marco Rubio's lead in the Florida Senate race has evaporated, making him the latest down-ballot Republican to slump as voters register increasing dissatisfaction with Donald Trump, according to a Quinnipiac University Poll released Friday.
Incumbent Republican Senate candidates in the three key swing states surveyed — Florida, Pennsylvania and Ohio — all polled better than Trump, the survey showed. But in Florida and Pennsylvania, both considered crucial to the party's efforts to maintain control of the Senate, the races are now too close to call.
"At this stage of the campaign, Republican U.S. Senate candidates may be running against their own presidential nominee, Donald Trump, as much as they are against their Democratic opponents," said Peter A. Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Poll.

Following the United States women’s soccer team’s shocking loss to Sweden in penalty kicks at the 2016 Olympics, Solo said the following: “We lost to a bunch of cowards. The better team did not win.”

NC: Republicans Burr and McCrory trailing Dem. Opponents
Down the ballot, incumbent Republican Sen. Richard Burr is trailing Democratic challenger Deborah Ross in North Carolina by two points among registered voters, 46 percent to 44 percent. (Last month, Burr was ahead by seven points, 48 percent to 41 percent.).
In North Carolina's gubernatorial race, incumbent Republican Gov. Pat McCrory is down by seven points to Democratic challenger Roy Cooper, 51 percent to 44 percent. (In July, it was Cooper 49 percent, McCrory 45 percent.)

Woodward: Clinton supporters to blame for Trump's remarks
Famed reporter Bob Woodward suggested Thursday morning that “excessive rhetoric” from Donald Trump’s opponents was feeding the bombastic billionaire’s increasingly controversial remarks.
Calling Trump’s campaign one that’s “off the rails,” the Washington Post editor also condemned “hyperbolic, ungenerous rhetoric” from Hillary Clinton’s allies.
“I think it's got to be said this is not just about Trump,” Woodward said in an appearance on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.” “A lot of the people who really are opposed to Trump, I think, are engaged in some excessive rhetoric also.”

Poll: Trump ahead by 3 in SC.
PPP's newest South Carolina poll* finds that the state is trending toward being competitive in the Presidential race this year, just like in neighboring Georgia. Donald Trump has only a 2 point lead with 41% to 39% for Hillary Clinton, 5% for Gary Johnson, and 2% for Jill Stein.
The closeness is a function of Democrats being a lot happier with their party's candidate than Republicans are with theirs. Clinton is winning 84% of the Democratic vote, compared to Trump's 77% of the Republican vote. Although neither candidate is well liked by voters in the state Trump's favorability, at 38% positive and 56% negative, comes in slightly worse than Clinton's at 38/55.
Whether Democrats end up winning South Carolina in the Presidential race this fall or not, the generational differences in the state portend well for the party in the decades ahead. Trump is only ahead because of a massive advantage among seniors in the state at 58/30. When you look at everyone in the electorate below the age of 65, Clinton leads Trump 41/36. That suggests the potential for the Palmetto State to become much more of a battleground in the years ahead, just as in migration and the increasing diversity of the electorate has done in Southern states like Virginia and North Carolina.
