MSNBC rolls out clips from the briefing room to destroy Sarah Sanders boast of "being respectful"

MSNBC ROLLS OUT CLIPS FROM THE BRIEFING ROOM TO DESTROY SARAH SANDERS BOAST OF ALWAYS BEING RESPECTFUL

Raw Story
June 26, 2018

White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders' complaints over being denied service at the Red Hen restaurant in Virginia were put to the test during a Tuesday fact-check by MSNBC anchor Chris Jansing.

"I always do my best to treat people, including those I disagree with, respectfully and will continue to do so," Sanders claimed.

[Her tweet}
"Last night I was told by the owner of Red Hen in Lexington, VA to leave because I work for
@POTUS and I politely left..Her actions say more about her than about me..I always do my best to treat people, including those I disagree with, respectfully and will continue to do so"

- Sarah Sanders (@PressSec).June 23, 2018

I just want to play a few little clips from the press briefing room," Jansing noted, playing clips of Sanders belittling the press corps.

"I want to say I worked in that room for 2.5 years and I have the highest respect for the level and quality of the journalists who work there every single day," Jansing explained.
"These are smart, dedicated, hard-working people and she often questions their intelligence."

Perhaps it's time to "Occupy America"?

{The following article was written in 2011 by progressive author and historian Michael Parenti)

"Occupy America"

by Michael Parenti

Beginning with "Occupy Wall Street" in September, 2011, a protest movement spread across the United States to 70 major cities and hundreds of other communities.
Similar actions emerged in scores of other nations.

For the first two weeks, the corporate-owned mainstream media along with NPR did what they usually do with progressive protests: they ignored them.
These were the same media that had given the Tea Party supporters saturation coverage for two weeks on end, ordaining them " a major political force."

The most common and effective mode of news repression is omission.
By saying nothing or next to nothing about dissenting events, movements, candidates, or incidents, the media consign them to oblivion.
When the Occupy movement spread across the country and could no longer be ignored, the media moved to the second manipulative method: trivialization and marginalization.

So we heard that the protesters were unclear about what they were protesting and they were "far removed from the mainstream."
Media cameras focused on the clown who danced on Wall Street in full-blown circus costume, and the youths who pounded bongo drums: "a carnival atmosphere" "youngsters out on a spree," with "no connection to the millions of middle Americans" who supposedly watched with puzzlement and alarm.

Why we are suing Ohio and Kansas - We CAN Reverse Purges

Greg Palast
June 17, 2018

The Supreme Court decision blessing the purge of half a million voters in Ohio is NOT the last word.

On Monday, the renowned law firm of Mirer Mazzocchi Julien of New York will serve a 90-day notice on Jon Husted, the Secretary of State of Ohio, of our intent to file suit in federal court unless we receive complete information on each of the hundreds of thousands of voters removed from the voter rolls.

We have already filed a demand for information on Kris Kobach, the "eminence grise' behind Ohio and other mass purges nationwide, to open his purge program files to us.
We are joined in this demand by the ACLU of Kansas.

WHAT WE CAN DO

As I explained in my prior report, the Supreme Court did not authorize Ohio to remove voters who skipped an election.
Rather, failing to vote was merely one of Ohio's excuses to send a postcard to these voters.
Not returning a postcard was taken, absurdly - insanely - as evidence "the voter had moved away."

The implications of the Supreme Court decision are unimaginably horrid, as at least two dozen states (not just Ohio) are using "evidence" that a voter has moved -- "proven" by the failure to respond to a piece of junk mail.

Supreme Court faces major decision on partisan gerrymandering

The Hill
June 17, 2018

The Supreme Court has a big decision to make as it heads into it's final weeks of the term: whether to strike down a voter map for the first time as an unconstitutional partisan gerrymander.

Experts agree it would be a game changer if the court is able to find a way to assess when legislators have gone too far in drawing congressional maps that give their party an edge.

The court has long shied away from policing congressional maps without a clear way to measure how much political bias in redistricting is too much.

Court watchers say Justice Anthony Kennedy, a likely swing vote, has been looking for a standard since 2004 when the court refused to wade into a dispute over Pennsylvania's map.

Kennedy signaled at the time that while the court did not have a clear solution then, one could be found eventually.

"That no such standard has emerged in this case should not be taken to prove that none will emerge in the future," he said.

But it's anyone's guess whether Kennedy and other justices have since settled on a standard.

Keith Moon - Drummer Extrordinaire - Part 1

"extraordinaire" defined:
"Outstanding or remarkable in a particular capacity."

Keith John Moon was born August 23, 1946 in Wembley, Middlesex, England.
He grew up in Alperton, a suburb of Wembley, and took up the drums in the early 1960s.
His favorite musicians were jazz artists, particularly Gene Krupa.
He also admired Elvis Presley's original drummer, D.J. Fontana, The Shadows original drummer, Tony Meehan, and The Pretty Thing's Viv Prince.
He idolized The Beach Boys

Moon joined his first serious band, The Escorts, replacing his best friend, Gerry Evans.
In December, 1062, he joined The Beachcombers, a semi-professional London cover band playing hits by groups such as The Shadows.
The Beachcombers all had day jobs
Moon, who worked in the sales department at British Gypsum, wanted to turn professional

In April, 1964, at age 17, he auditioned for The Who as a replacement for drummer Doug Sandom.
Moon's arrival in The Who changed the dynamics of the group.
Sandom had generally been the "peacemaker," as Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend often feuded between themselves, but because of Moon's temperament the group now had four members frequently in conflict.
"We used to fight regularly," remembered Moon in later years.
"John" [Entwistle] and I used to have fights - it wasn't very serious."
Moon also clashed with Daltrey and Townshend.
"We really have absolutely nothing in common apart from music," he said in a later interview.

Although not an especially gifted vocalist, Moon was enthusiastic about singing and wanted to sing lead with the rest of the group.
He provided humorous commentary during song announcements, although sound engineer Bob Pridden preferred to mute his vocal microphone on the mixing desk whenever possible.
Moon's knack for making his bandmates laugh around the microphone led them to banish him from the studio when vocals were being recorded; this led to a game in which Moon would sneak in to join the singing.
[At the end of "Happy Jack," Townshend can be heard saying "I saw ya" as he tried to sneak into the studio]

The drummer's interest in surf music and his desire to sing lead spawned lead vocals on several early tracks, including "Bucket T" and "Barbara Ann" [Ready Steady- Who LP] and high backing vocals on other songs, such as "Pictures of Lily"
Moon's performance on "Bell Boy" [Quadrophenia, 1973] saw him abandon "serious" vocal performances to sing in character, which gave him [in biographer Tony Fletcher's words],
"full license to live up to his reputation as a lecherous drunk," it was "exactly the kind of performance The Who needed from him to bring them back down to earth."

After Decades of Losing Ice, Antarctica Is Now Hemorrhaging It

The Atlantic
June 13, 2018

Climate change has not been kind to Antarctica...According to a comprehensive new study, global warming has already bled the frigid continent, which is larger than Europe, of about 2.7 trillion tons of ice.
This enormous amount of ice has already raised global sea levels by as much as a centimeter.

This outflow appears to be increasing...Almost half of all loses have occurred in just the past five years..And the continent is hemorrhaging that mass in a way that will lead to especially high sea levels on the East Coast of the United States.

"The continent is causing sea levels to rise faster today than at any time in the past 25 years," said Andrew Shepherd, a leader of the new study and a professor of Earth observation at the University of Leeds, in a statement.

"If you take the big picture, when we compared before and after 2012, there was a three-times increase in the amount of melting," said Beta Csatho, an author of the paper and a professor of Geophysics at the University of Buffalo.

The results, published Wednesday in the journal "Nature," present what is generally considered to be (the) highest-quality census of the world's glaciers and ice sheets.
Written by 84 scientists across 44 different institutions, including NASA and the National Snow and Ice Data Center, the paper combines several different modes of measurement to produce one consensus result.
