Muslim family's encounter with Gwinnett (Atl) police goes viral

Source: Atlanta Journal

A Muslim family's interaction with Gwinnett police officers on Thanksgiving weekend has gone viral.

In a Facebook post, Georgia resident Zanub Rizvi wrote that she was driving her daughter and mother-in-law to a religious gathering when she was rear-ended.

All the police officers and paramedics that responded to the accident were white males, she said.

She said it was "obvious" from their dress that they were a Muslim family, but she was "surprised" by how they treated to her.

Rancher’s wife: ‘I saw them murder my husband’

Source: Miami Herald

The family of an Adams County rancher involved in an encounter with two sheriff’s deputies says the deputies killed him in a “completely unjustified” shooting.
Survivors of Jack Yantis, the 62-year-old who died a week ago in the darkness on U.S. 95 north of Council, say they will pursue claims against Adams County for Yantis’ death.

Donna Yantis spent her 63rd birthday Thursday at Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise, where she has been recovering from a heart attack she suffered after her husband was killed. Provided by the Yantis family
Family members have shared with the Statesman their account of what happened last Sunday night. The account is in written statements prepared with attorneys the family hired after the incident, a video statement Donna Yantis made from her Boise hospital bed, and a draft transcript the lawyers prepared of one family member’s account of what happened.

The Statesman also interviewed several family members, including Rowdy Paradis, a nephew of the couple’s who said he witnessed the shootings.
“Law enforcement should be trained to de-escalate situations,” said Rowdy Paradis. “In this case, I stood 10 feet away and watched two deputies escalate the situation and needlessly kill a man.”

Venezuela’s Food Shortages Trigger Long Lines, Hunger and Looting

Source: WSJ

LA SIBUCARA, Venezuela—Hours after they looted and set fire to a National Guard command post in this sun-baked corner of Venezuela earlier this month, a mob infuriated by worsening food shortages rammed trucks into the smoldering edifice, reducing it mostly to rubble.

The incident was just one of numerous violent clashes that have flared in pockets around the country in recent weeks as Venezuelans wait for hours in long supermarket lines for basics like milk and rice. Shortages have made hunger a palpable concern for many Wayuu Indians who live here at the northern tip of Venezuela’s 1,300-mile border with Colombia.

‘We are going very hungry here and the children are suffering a lot.’
—María Palma, 55, of La Sibucara
The soldiers had been deployed to stem rampant food smuggling and price speculation, which President Nicolás Maduro blames for triple-digit inflation and scarcity. But after they seize contraband goods, the troops themselves often become targets of increasingly desperate people.

“What’s certain is that we are going very hungry here and the children are suffering a lot,” said María Palma, a 55-year-old grandmother who on a recent blistering hot day had been standing in line at the grocery store since 3 a.m. before walking away empty-handed at midday.

Maduro's approval rating is lower than George W Bush's and Congress. If THAT doesn't spell "failure" I dont know what does.
It's only a matter of time before the people rise against the criminals running their country into the ground, imo.

France train shooting: Hollande thanks 'heroes' who foiled gunman

French President Francois Hollande has thanked three American men hailed as heroes for overpowering a heavily-armed gunman on a train in northern France.
The incident happened on the high-speed Thalys service near Arras on Friday. A 26-year-old Moroccan man was arrested.
One of the Americans said they took an AK-47 assault rifle and a handgun from the attacker as they saw him walk down the aisle of the train.
One of the Americans and another passenger were seriously hurt.
In a press conference on Saturday, French Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve said the suspect's identity had yet to be confirmed, but it was believed that he had radical Islamist beliefs.

WWE Star Titus O’Neil Took A Group Of Homeless People To A Restaurant To Prove A Point

Source: Uproxx Sports

Titus O’Neil has a point to prove, and it’s a good one: That all people, regardless of their status, should be viewed and treated equally. O’Neil originally tried to show this by taking a pair of homeless people to a local Yard House restaurant. However, the restaurant was supposedly hesitant to serve O’Neil and his guests. So, the WWE star returned the next day with an entire group of less fortunate guests.

The results, per his Instagram account, were different and for the better:
"I'm gathering homeless people to take them out to eat at @yardhouse last night I did the same thing and the manager seemed distant in Serving the two last night so I said instead of just posting I'll gather more and eat lunch with them at that Resturant. They need to learn how to treat All humans as such. #ContentOfCharacter #AllLivesMatter"

Family’s attorney says Seneca teen shot from behind

Source: Greenville Online

A lawyer representing the family of a Seneca teenager who was shot by police Sunday night said the autopsy shows that Zachary Hammond was shot from behind and his car was not moving, contrary to police reports that the car veered toward the officer during a drug sting.

Eric Bland, a Columbia attorney hired by Hammond’s parents, said he has requested the state Attorney General to call for a statewide grand jury investigation into the incident.

“It is clearly, clearly from the back,” Bland said after viewing pictures of the bullet wounds at the coroner’s office Wednesday. “It is physically impossible for him to be trying to flee or run over the officer that shot him.”

Zimbabwe row over age of consent after Tomana's comments

Source: BBC

Zimbabwe's top prosecutor has been criticised after questioning whether all cases involving sex with girls under 16 should be treated as rape.
Activists should ask what alternatives to early marriage are left for young girls who are out of school, Johannes Tomana told the state-owned Chronicle.

Many online have criticised his comments for endorsing the idea that girls as young as 12 can give consent.
In Zimbabwe, 4% of girls marry by the age of 15 and 30% by 18, the UN says.

Information Minister Jonathan Moyo joined the criticism, calling Mr Tomana's interview "outrageous", and suggesting that his comments compromised his position as prosecutor general, in a post on twitter.

The wishes of girls who want to get married early and who give their consent to under-age sex should be considered carefully, Mr Tomana said.

In 2015 we still have countries that openly excuse abuse of young girls.
