Hillary will announce June 13th from Roosevelt Island NYC.

This is where she will announce, with the UN and Freedom Tower in the background:

The Hastert results are in. Come see if you're a winner!

Drumroll please....

Hastert Misconduct Involves Sexual Abuse Of A Male | Crooks and Liars

Anonymous federal sources are speaking to the LA Times, and the story isn't pretty. It also confirms why he is resigning hastily from the Wheaton College Center that bears his name as well as the lobbying firm he's been working for.

LA Times

One of the officials, who would not speak publicly about the federal charges in Chicago, said “Individual A,” as the person is described in Thursday’s federal indictment, was a man and that the alleged misconduct was unrelated to Hastert’s tenure in Congress. The actions date to Hastert’s time as a Yorkville, Ill., high school wrestling coach and teacher, the official said.

“It goes back a long way, back to then,” the source said. “It has nothing to do with public corruption or a corruption scandal. Or to his time in office.” Thursday’s indictment described the misconduct “against Individual A” as having “occurred years earlier.”

Asked why Hastert was making the payments, the official said it was to conceal Hastert’s past relationship with the male. “It was sex,’’ the source said. The other official confirmed that the misconduct involved sexual abuse.

Cue the homophobic right wing's outrage at how gays corrupt even the most pristine public officials in 3, 2, 1...

Abstinence education appears to not even work on the guys who vote for it. Also, Segami posted about a CSPAN caller from Yorkville who asked Hastert if they remember him, then laughed and hung up. Hmmm: http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=view_post&forum=1002&pid=6746576

Bernie Sanders in Selma Says Civil Rights Struggle Continues

SELMA, Ala., March 7 – U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) today joined U.S. Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.) and other civil rights pioneers on the 50th anniversary of an historic civil rights march that led to enactment of the Voting Rights Act.

“In 1965, against racist legalized violence, incredibly brave men and women put their lives on the line to demand that all Americans, regardless of their color, have the right to vote. And they won. When people stand together for justice, nothing is impossible,” Sanders said.

President Barack Obama and members of Congress gathered at the foot of the Edmund Pettus Bridge to commemorate the events of Bloody Sunday in 1965, when baton-wielding police beat Lewis, the future Georgia congressman, and other peaceful protesters.

Later that year, President Lyndon B. Johnson signed the Voting Rights Act, which protected voters from discrimination until the Supreme Court two years ago invalidated a key portion of the landmark law.

Sanders said he hoped the anniversary of the march will be a catalyst for Congress to undo that 2013 court decision.

"What Bloody Sunday was about was showing the entire country and the entire world how far some of the racist officials in Alabama would go to prevent African-Americans from participating the political process and from voting,” Sanders said. “What happened on that bridge that day was a huge step forward for democracy in America. But what is happening right now – not just in the South but all over this country – are efforts by Republican governors and Republican legislatures to make it harder for African-Americans, for low-income people and for senior citizens to vote.”

The election of Obama, the first African-American president, is a sign of the nation’s progress in the past half century, Sanders said. “But we also know that much more needs to be done. Today, African American unemployment is double the national average while African American household income is $17,000 less. The struggle for racial and economic justice continues,” Sanders said.

The only Presidential candidate to attend and give a speech.

Bin Laden's Bookshelf

From Chomsky to Woodward. A rare public accounting of some of the documents seized from Osama bin Laden’s Abbottabad compound. Oh, and LOTS of conspiracy theory books on 9/11 and the Illuminati.

WASHINGTON — The U.S. government is releasing this week the list of English language texts that were recovered from Osama bin Laden's Pakistan compound after the U.S. raid that killed the al Qaeda leader in 2011.

The list is the first public accounting by the government of the English language section of the trove of materials found in the compound. The release of the list along with another tranche of materials from the compound that are being declassified marks the fourth time since the 2011 raid that killed the 9/11 mastermind that the government has made public some of the documents found after the raid. The list, embargoed until Wednesday morning and provided in advance to BuzzFeed News, includes volumes by MIT linguist Noam Chomsky, former intelligence official and antiwar activist Michael Scheuer, conspiracy texts about 9/11 and the Illuminati, and a book by Bob Woodward. Bin Laden had these materials in digital files. The list also includes numerous materials about France, including information on France's economy and defense, as well as materials that analysts think were probably used by other residents of the compound — including a suicide prevention manual.

No, Republicans, poor people on SNAP are not eating lobster and filet mignon.

Lorca Henley of Bowling Green, Ohio, said her family's dinners on different nights this week included taco salads, tuna casserole with mashed potatoes, spaghetti with meat sauce and hamburgers they fried on the stove because they were out of propane.

Steak, lobster and crab legs were not on the menu, even though such fare figures prominently in political debates over what food people buy with Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits. Henley, 42, said she's received SNAP benefits since October, when she lost her job as a registered nurse with a dialysis company. She said she gets $342 per month for herself, her husband and their three young kids. They buy lots of eggs, bread, apples and carrots, she added.

"I’ve never had crab legs in my life," Henley said. "I’ve never had lobster –- I haven’t had a steak in like four years."

$342 per MONTH for a family of 5. I'm a family of 4 and go through about $200 per WEEK. Jesus.
