In a letter to Ohios Democratic Party chair, Secretary of State Frank LaRose warns that the Democratic National Convention will take place after a state deadline to declare a candidate.

Ohios secretary of state on Friday signaled that the Democratic National Convention may take place too late for President Joe Biden to appear on the general election ballot in the state, according to a letter obtained by NBC News.
The Democratic National Convention is scheduled to convene on August 19, 2024, which occurs more than a week after the August 7 deadline to certify a presidential candidate to the office, Secretary of State Frank LaRose wrote to Ohio Democratic Party Chairwoman Liz Walters.
........................
In the note, LaRose goes on to say that the oversight can be rectified in two ways: either by the Democratic Party moving up its nominating convention or by getting the Ohio state legislature to create an exemption to this statutory requirement by May 9 in accordance with state law.

Monroe deputies had arrested Chitty, a pastor at First Baptist Church, last month on charges of sexual battery, lewd and lascivious behavior, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
An investigation began after an anonymous caller reported overhearing a girl telling another adult that she had been raped, authorities said.
The victim, a 15-year-old girl, told detectives Chitty gave her alcohol that she believed might have been spiked because she immediately began to feel weak and passed out after drinking it, deputies said. When she woke up, she found Chitty was sexually molesting her.
Chitty had called authorities beforehand because "he believed he was about to be accused of something and he wanted to get ahead of it," deputies said. He said a young girl at his church had been drinking, so he helped her lie down on a couch in the church's library and claimed he did not touch her after that.
Chitty, who had also been a registered volunteer with the Monroe County Sheriff's Office as a pastor, was being held on a $1.3 million bond, officials said..........................

Good job BP!!!
Apparently Ted Cruz has suffered his first real loss and concern for a third term in Texas!
BP America, based in Houston, pulled advertising from Ted Cruzs podcastafter learning that iHeartMedia paid his Super PAC $630,000 for ad sales.
BP America pulled ads from politically affiliated podcasts to maintain neutrality and navigate political complexities, reflecting a trend of companies managing political associations carefully.
This move aims to protect the brand's reputation and appeal to a diverse customer base amid heightened consumer awareness of political implications in spending.
The decision could influence advertising strategies in various industries, promoting a separation of commercial advertising from direct political funding and emphasizing corporate social responsibility.

I have not listened to much news this week--too busy but try to catch msnbc in the evening.
The media has ceased talking about:
polls - Biden is leading
the economy - because it's booming
inflation - it's lower than the rest of the world
age - Biden and Trump are practically the same age and Trump is insane
They literally have nothing bad to say about Biden so they've stopped saying anything about him

Judge rejects Trumps First Amendment challenge to indictment in Georgia election case

ATLANTA (AP) The judge overseeing the Georgia election interference case against Donald Trump and others rejected on Thursday arguments by the former president that the indictment seeks to criminalize political speech protected by the First Amendment.
The indictment issued in August by a Fulton County grand jury accused Trump and 18 others of participating in a wide-ranging scheme to illegally try to overturn the 2020 presidential election in Georgia after the Republican incumbent narrowly lost the state to Democrat Joe Biden. Trumps attorneys argued that all the charges against him involved political speech that is protected even if the speech ends up being false.
But Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee wrote that at this pretrial stage he must consider the language of the indictment in a light favorable to the prosecution. The charges do not suggest that Trump and the others are being prosecuted simply for making false statements but rather that they acted willfully and knowingly to harm the government, he wrote.
