Affidavit: Texas man murdered woman, shot her husband, because they voted for Biden

Suspect claimed pro-choice advocates are members of ‘Jewish Satanist Party’ who sacrifice children

EL PASO, Texas (KWTX & CBS Newspath) - Police in West Texas this week arrested Joseph Angel Alvarez, 38, who allegedly targeted a couple - killing the wife in the process - because they voted for Biden, and had a Biden flag and “a doll of Trump hanging” outside their home.

Alvarez, arrested September 8 nearly a year after the murder, is being held at the El Paso County Detention Center. He was jailed on a $2 million bond for the murder of Georgette Kaufmann, 50, and on a $500,000 bond for the aggravated assault of the woman’s husband, Daniel Kaufmann.

The couple was targeted on November 14, 2020, shortly after the U.S. presidential election, at their home in the 3000 block of Copper Avenue in Central El Paso.

A criminal complaint states police found Georgette Kauffman’s body inside her garage. After Alvarez shot and killed the woman, he allegedly made his way through the detached garage door and entered the backyard.

The court document obtained by KDBC-TV in El Paso states Alvarez walked up a flight of stairs to an outdoor patio deck. He attempted to enter the residence, but found the wrought iron door to be locked.

At that time, Daniel Kauffman heard a noise at the back door and walked in its direction because he believed it was his wife. Alvarez then allegedly fired several rounds through the closed wrought iron door, striking the husband, the court document states.

Kauffman told KDBC he was shot at five times, but was able to crawl out of his home and reach a neighbor’s house to ask for help.

Investigators obtained a Google geofence search warrant to examine all mobile devices within a particular geofence area of the victim’s home. The search warrant data provided by Google allegedly revealed Alvarez was present in the area on two occasions. Once on Nov. 10, 2020, and the other on the day of the murder.

During the investigation, investigators uncovered emails allegedly sent by Alvarez in which he stated his extremist religious beliefs and identified “pro-choice” advocates as the “Jewish Satanist Party” and claimed abortions were “Jewish child sacrifice.”

He identified Memorial Park, near the murdered woman’s home, as a “ritualistic satanic ground to conduct abortions by the manner of magic.”

The Off-Mic Moment That Changed My View of Larry Elder - he does it for the $$$

Meeting Elder face to face at the KABC studio on La Cienega in Los Angeles, I was immediately caught off guard. He was low-key and civil, even amiable. Was this an act, a set-up? Once the show started, he sounded more like the Larry Elder I recognized: brash, self-righteous. Still, he didn’t ridicule or even challenge me or my story the way he had a few days before. It turns out he didn’t really need to — his callers did all the debating, with more than a few actually weighing in favorably about “The Butt.” It was off the air, during the commercial breaks, that Elder dropped a bomb. Between the small talk, he told me casually that he had understood my essay just fine and all of its main points. In other words, he got it. “But if you and I agreed, there’d be no show,” I recall him saying. “We wouldn’t have this!” He gestured to the lit-up phone lines with a kind of glee.

I never saw Elder again, but the encounter has stayed with me. I don’t expect him to ever change course, or character, and certainly not in an age in which Republicans of all colors have to toe the Trump line to win any election. In California’s second recall election in the past 20 years, Elder’s Blackness might make him stand out from the pack, but only superficially; the truth is, he’s as conformist as they come. Choosing self-serving, conflict-driven entertainment and ratings over subtlety and intellectual honesty is what conservative media does all too often, and it’s become required in conservative politics, too. Elder made a predictable choice, to the permanent detriment of Black people — to all of us — a long time ago. At this very crucial point in its own progress, California deserves more than an act. It deserves integrity. I did too.

ABC Australia: Fox and the Big Lie - doc about how Fox News is a threat to Democracy: pt 1

Fox and the Big Lie: A two-part special on Rupert Murdoch's Fox News — how the network promoted Donald Trump's propaganda and helped destabilise democracy in America

"The United States of America gave Rupert Murdoch a great deal, he repaid it by doing a great deal of harm." Lt. Colonel Ralph Peters, former Fox contributor

Fox News is the brash cable TV network that has dominated both the ratings and the headlines in America, delivering revenue and power to the Murdoch family empire. For decades its catch cry was "fair and balanced." Then along came Donald Trump.

"I think that they allowed the former president to dictate what news they put out to the American people." Gretchen Carlson, former Fox News host

On Monday, Four Corners investigates how the Murdoch run Fox News became a propaganda vehicle for Donald Trump and helped destabilise democracy in the United States. Featuring Fox News insiders, the program reveals how the network changed once Donald Trump entered politics and Rupert Murdoch took over.

"I was under the false belief that…the Murdochs' would elevate the value of news…They were not there to make Fox more mainstream. Quite the opposite." Chris Stirewalt, former Fox political editor

In interviews with major Fox figures including Gretchen Carlson, the presenter who brought down famed network boss Roger Ailes; and former Fox political editor Chris Stirewalt, a key figure on the Decision Desk whose election night call triggered a Trump meltdown — the program examines the politics at work within the network and why it tied its fortunes to Donald Trump.

"This is all a money game. This is all about ratings. This is all about the bottom line." Gretchen Carlson

Marc Bernier a prominent anti-vaxxer and conservative radio show host has died.

Marc Bernier, a talk radio host in Daytona Beach for 30 years, died after a three-week battle with COVID-19, WNDB and Southern Stone Communications announced on Twitter Saturday night.

Bernier, 65, of Ormond Beach, has been remembered in recent days as a conservative who sought out and aired others' points of view while airing a morning comment, three-hour afternoon show, weekend shows and specials, such as remote town halls and political debates. He interviewed countless governors, senators, mayors, sheriffs, journalists, historians and authors. He also was an outspoken opponent of vaccinations.

Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood, a longtime guest on Marc Bernier's WNDB radio show, said a representative of the station confirmed to him that Bernier died Saturday night sometime after 6 p.m.
