Vin Scully rails against socialism during Dodgers broadcast

As expected, we’ve gotten all kinds of quirky on-air and video moments from Los Angeles Dodgers play-by-play man Vin Scully before he retires — reading a grocery list, a long take on why the number 13 isn’t unlucky and a great explanation of “GOAT.”

Here’s one more to add to the list: Scully ranting on socialism:

“Socialism failing to work, as it always does, this time in Venezuela. You talk about giving everybody something free and all of a sudden, there’s no food to eat. And who do you think is the richest person in Venezuela? The daughter of Hugo Chavez. Hello! Anyway, 0-and-2.”

There isn’t much context here, but it appears watching Milwaukee Brewers infielder Hernan Perez — a Venezuela native — at the plate was what got Scully on the topic.

Crazy that politics comes up during a game. It's not the place.

Disney gator attack: 2-year-old found dead, source says

Source: CNN

Lake Buena Vista, Florida (CNN)[Breaking news update, posted at 4:00 p.m. ET]

The 2-year-old boy who witnesses said was pulled by an alligator into a lagoon near a Walt Disney World hotel has been found dead, a source with knowledge of the investigation told CNN on Wednesday.

The 2-year-old boy who was grabbed Tuesday night by an alligator near a Walt Disney World resort hotel is believed dead, Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings said Wednesday. Demings noted that it has been 15 hours since the attack and rescue officials are trying to recover the body.

The boy's family was at movie night outdoors at the Grand Floridian resort when around 9 p.m. the boy waded into about a foot of water in a lagoon, authorities have said. Witnesses, including the boy's horrified parents, tried to save him. His father jumped in and tried to pry the gator's mouth open. His mother jumped in, too.

But it was too late. The child was dragged underwater in the Seven Seas Lagoon, witnesses told authorities. The lagoon is connected to a series of canals that feed into large bodies of water, according to Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission Executive Director Nick Wiley.

Washington Post/ABC Poll: Donald Trump Leads Hillary Clinton; 11-Point Swing Since March

Source: Breitbart

A new poll shows that Donald Trump has vastly improved his support among voters since becoming the presumptive Republican nominee.

The Washington Post/ABC poll released Saturday night shows that Trump is now favored by 46 percent among registered voters, with Clinton at 44 percent.

That marks an eleven-point shift towards Trump since the same poll conducted in March. Clinton is down five points among registered voters while Trump is up six.

Forty-four percent of voters said they wanted a third-party candidate to run, but 51 percent said they were satisfied with the current field.

A few days ago, many dismissed the Fox News and Rasmussen polls putting Trump ahead, saying they were biased because they are right-wing. Now this.

Donald Trump: 9/11 report excerpt will reveal Saudi Arabia's 'profound' role in the attacks

Source: Los Angeles Times

Donald Trump weighed in Tuesday on the reemerging debate over 28 pages of redactions in the 9/11 commission report and said he thinks the excerpt will show that U.S. ally Saudi Arabia played a significant role in the terrorist attacks.

“We attacked Iraq and frankly by attacking Iraq — they were not the ones that knocked down the World Trade Center,” he said on “Fox and Friends.”

Candidates in both parties, members of Congress and President Obama are engaged in an intensifying debate over whether to release the classified pages, in part because of proposed legislation over whether to allow 9/11 victims' families to sue Saudi Arabia for any possible role in the attacks. While Obama said he plans to wait on his decision until the director of national intelligence finishes a review of the information, lawmakers are pressuring him to declassify it.

Trump said the U.S. needed to release the papers a long time ago.

Trump is an unusual kind of broken clock. When he's right, he's really REALLY right. Wow.

Trump Uses Eric Garner’s Dying Words To Mock Mitt Romney; His Supporters Roar With Laughter

Source: Addicting Info

Republican front-runner Donald Trump decided a visit to New York would be a good time to try out his comedy routine by delivering a stunningly tasteless joke at the expense of a man who had been recently killed nearby by New York police.

“The last election should have been won, except Romney choked like a dog. He choked,” Trump said, before mocking Romney with his hands in a choke position.

Trump shouted “I can’t breathe, I can’t breathe,” mocking the last words of Garner, who died in police custody on July 17, 2014, when officers tried to arrest him for allegedly selling loose, untaxed cigarettes across from Tompkinsville Park.

The moment stunned reporters on scene, but what was perhaps even more surprising was the response Trump got from his fans. Rather than find the idea of aping the words of a man who recently died just a few miles away repulsive, the crowd of Trump-heads roared with laughter. The mockery was the funniest thing they had ever seen.

Ted Cruz won 63.6% of the vote in Wyoming last night (Saturday)

Too late to post in LBN, but that's pretty significant. Rubio was second with 19.5%, then Trump with 7.2%. I think he can still defeat Trump after the other two drop out after Tuesday.

Trump pledges to be 'neutral guy' in Israel-Palestinian negotiations

Source: CNN

In an exchange about the potential for a peace agreement, anchor Joe Scarborough asked the Republican front-runner, "Whose fault do you think it is?"

"I don't want to get into it for a different reason, Joe, because if I do win, there has to be a certain amount of surprise, unpredictability," he said at a town hall Wednesday, adding that by declining to tip his hand, he would be in a better position to negotiate.

"Let me be sort of a neutral guy, let's see what -- I'm going to give it a shot. It would be so great," Trump said.

The remark contrasts with the many Republicans -- and some Democrats -- who often pledge unequivocal support for Israel.

Obama should just nominate Hillary Clinton to the Supreme Court

Every side will get something they want, and I believe she could be confirmed. Think about this for a minute.

What the Republicans get from this:

They would no longer have to face her in the general election (not that that's set in stone, but every Republican thins she will win the nomination).

Someone who is not 50, so they can say she'll probably only stay on for 15-20 years.

What the Democrats get from this:

Someone far to the left of Scalia, and a good reasonable liberal who would be on their side on the vast majority of judicial issues.

Her withdrawal from the Democratic nomination and Bernie running unopposed. How sweet is that?

What Clinton gets:

A lifetime appointment. IMO this is even better than being President.

This could realistically satisfy all sides.

Trump: Maybe Obama 'feels comfortable' in a mosque

Source: The Hill

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump on Wednesday chided President Obama for visiting a mosque, a move the president made in part as a counter to Trump's controversial comments on Muslims.

"I don't have much thought, I think he can go to lots of places. I don't know, maybe he feels comfortable there," Trump said Wednesday on Fox News' "On the Record with Greta Van Susteren."

"There are a lot of places he can go, and he chose a mosque."

Obama's visit to a Baltimore mosque Wednesday was his first visit to a mosque during his presidency, and he took the time to chide the "inexcusable" anti-Islamic rhetoric that's boiled up recently.
