Algernon Moncrieff's Journal538: Our Way-Too-Early 2020 Democratic Primary Draft
Our Way-Too-Early 2020 Democratic Primary Draftmicah (Micah Cohen, politics editor): Todays chat is going to be a crazy one. Its too early to make any bold claims about how the 2020 Democratic primary field is shaping up, but potential candidates are already making maybe-Ill-run-for-president moves. So, its time for 🎈FIVETHIRTYEIGHTS 2020 DEMOCRATIC PRESIDENTIAL PRIMARY DRAFT!!!🎈
Well do six rounds. The goal is to pick the eventual 2020 Democratic nominee, but you also get points for having people on your team who do well but dont win. (Well figure out how to judge this later/never.)
Nate has all our names in a hat and is having a neutral nonparticipant randomly pick the draft order
DNA Testing (to find your history, etc.)
Did you do it? Were you happy with the results?
23 & Me? Ancestry? My Heritage? Someone else?
Paul Ryan might leave Congress in 2018. Why do you suppose that is?
https://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2017/12/14/paul-ryan-retire-speaker-ready-leave-washington-216103If one of these women from the Senate would run for President in 2020, who'd have your primary vote?
We have 16 women Democrats in the Senate- obviously I couldn't fit them all on the list. Unlike some other parties I could talk about....

http://ew.com/movies/2017/12/08/seth-rogen-cancels-sirius-interviews-steve-bannon/I was supposed to do a press tour on @SiriusXM on Tuesday but Im no longer doing it because I cant bring myself to appear on the same service that has decided to support Steve Bannon, Rogen tweeted. Apologies to the shows I had to cancel. And f Steve Bannon.
My subscription is due for renewal soon; I just told them if they hire Bannon, I'm done.
Just me - they don't care, but if enough others do it - they'll think twice.
It's time to end the Olympics
The doping.
The absurd amount of money that is spent preparing the venues
The rotting of the venues after the games
The petty rivalries.
The constant worries over terrorism (and in the case of the upcoming games in South Korea, the constant worry about North Korea).
The corrupt IOC.
The Ryan Lochte story
The Tonya Harding story
Larry Nassar
Corrupt judging
I'm over it. Whatever is going to be spent to prepare LA, there have to be better ways to spend the money.
So..net neutrality is about to end
I'm guessing that means unlimited access internet is going to cost a helluva lot more. Any thoughts on what a DUer should do in the brave new world?
Never Again became Oh Well
Mother JonesWould we be better off if kids pledged allegiance to the Constitution
...instead of the flag?
Maybe:
I pledge allegiance to the Constitution of the United States of America
And to our rights, endowed by our Creator
One nation, united, with liberty and justice for all
Maybe the next generation should focus on what the nation is really about. Not stars and stripes; not Bald Eagles; but the ideal of representative government, freedom, and tolerance.
