Colin Kaepernick vs. Tim Tebow: A tale of two Christians on their knees
From the article:
They're both Christian football players, and they're both known for kneeling on the field, although for very different reasons.
One grew up the son of Baptist missionaries to the Philippines. The other was baptized Methodist, confirmed Lutheran, and attended a Baptist church during college.
Both have made a public display of their faith. Both are prayerful and devout......
This is the tale of two Christian sports personalities, one of whom is the darling of the American church while the other is reviled. And their differences reveal much about the brand of Christianity preferred by many in the church today.

Speaking of NASCAR,
are any current NASCAR drivers military veterans?
Given what the various NASCAR organization figures have said about the kneeling controversy, how many drivers and NASCAR celebrities served in the US military?
Simply curious.
What if McCain and Collins and the other "moderate Republicans" are really acting for McConnell?
I have read some threads speaking of McCain and Collins as being moderate and principled, and I understand the desire to believe that there must be some few sane GOP Congress members. It is the "they cannot all be crazy, can they?" belief.
But what if Collins and McCain are actually following orders?
McConnell might be a corrupt racist, but he is cunning enough to keep his majority relatively united. So what if all of this soul searching on the part of Collins and McCain is nothing more than McConnell seeing that the public does not like the direction that the GOP is going?
If the Graham, Cassidy, Heller, Satan healthcare bill actually passed, the GOP might actually lose control of one or both houses of Congress. And McConnell needs control to pass the real meat of the GOP agenda, the tax cuts for the 1%.
Thoughts?
I was sitting in my garden on this 90 degree September day, watching the butterflies visiting
the flowers, and looking at all of the ripe peppers and tomatoes. All the splashes of red among the green foliage. The leaves are turning, the smell of fall is in the air even if the temperature feels like summer.
I say this because with all of the ugliness and negativity that Trump is cultivating in his garden of evil, there is still much that is good.
We must resist, and organize, and protest, but we must also be mindful that Trump, as toxic as he is, is not permanent. His nasty rhetoric is a sign of his fear that he will be exposed as what he is...............a failure as a businessman and as a person.
Which is the worst?
A racist con man and failed businessman who laughs as he lies his way through life, or
those who follow him?
I called for Christians to love gay people. Now the Catholic alt-right is taking revenge.
From the article:
In response, I recorded a brief video that was posted on Facebook. It offered some support for the LGBT community during a terribly difficult few weeks......
Now, in the past few weeks, three lectures I was invited to have been canceled, and I have been targeted by some far-right groups whose actions betray a level of homophobia that is hard to fathom.
