About Me

I've been a member of DU since the very beginning....after that horrible fiasco - the sElection of 2000. My first user name was Lindsey, then I changed it to Nirvana555, and now it's Upthevibe. I had devices crash and I ended up having to change my user name. I've never been one to make a whole lot of original posts, but I consider myself a very active member in that I come to DU almost every day and read the wonderfully informative threads. I can't imagine what life would have been like over the past two decades without DU!

Renee Zellwiger as Judy Garland....O.M.G......

I saw this movie today with some friends. Renee's performance was one of the most transformative I've ever seen. Whenever I see a an actor or actress that creates this kind of impact, hear a song that moves me to tears, or see a piece of art that takes me to another place, I become inspired in ways that can't be articulated so I won't try. I just wanted to give my input/review to folks who are wondering about this picture.....

Is it true that...

Ghislaine Maxwell (who was Epstein's friend) was actually cited at an In-N-Out Burger in Studio City California?

Has anyone seen the movie

Sword of Trust with Marc Maron? I'd love to get some feedback.

I need some suggestions regarding ideas on making some fast money...

(I'm in L.A.) I'd been substitute teaching since March of this year (the job I had before then was at a company that I feared was going to close and I wanted to get out before that happened.) I've subbed off and on in the past and have actually enjoyed it, have gotten assignments everyday, and the money has been what I've needed it to be. I consider teaching as a sub my "permanent temporary" job (until I can find something permanent in my field) but the schools are out for the summer and won't be back in session until mid to late August.

Since June, I've been doing odd jobs to bring in some money. I'm really looking for some ideas from those of you that may have either first-hand experience or have friends or family member who have worked to bring in extra cash. I've been on Craigslist and that's where I got the assignment I'm at now so I know the hiring can happen fast (depending on position). There are a couple of issues where I am now and I could probably make it last until the school year starts but I just want to put my feelers out.

One of the things I've wondered about it Uber. Can folks really make money this way or is it a saturated market? I'm not in a position where I can be involved in any kind of long-term process. Also, other than Craigslist, are there any other websites that anyone can direct me to where positions may be listed that are available right away? Once the school year starts back up I can then start subbing again and focus on my permanent job search.

Thank you all so much for any feedback you may provide.

I'm looking for laptop computer suggestions......

I've had a Dell for about two years and it hasn't held up very well. But in fairness to the computer, I've done some traveling for work and it's probably been through more than is normal. I'm on my computer a lot....for work and for fun. I'm on a little bit of a budget but I want something that has a good reputation. I'm probably not being specific enough but does anyone have any input? Thank You, DU'ers!

Do we know yet how Collins and Murkowski

will vote?

I have a question about why dt nominated Brett Kavanaugh

in the first place. Apparently, McConnell told dt to nominate ANYONE else. But he went with Kavanaugh anyway. Is it mainly because he is the person that has it on record that a President can't (or doesn't necessarily have to be) prosecuted?

Who's going to see Fahrenheit 11/9?.....

I'm planning on seeing it with friends but I DON'T want to hear bashing of the Dems (which Michael Moore does sometimes). Has anyone seen it yet or heard anything?

This is Joey's last day.....

My best friend has two furry kitties- Joey and Tommy. She started out fostering Joey (until he was adopted) in 2011. Well, needless to say, he became part of the family. For an entire year, he was so terrified of life that he stayed in her bedroom except to quickly come out to the kitchen to eat. Then, as time passed, he became more and more comfortable. He's ended up being the most loving little guy you could ever hope for. I've always called Joey and Tommy my nephews.

I spend more time over there at their place than any where else other than my home and work. I've house sat whenever she's gone out of town. We spend holidays there (with others that are extended family). I normally go over there every Sunday for an online self-actualization class we've been taking, and I feel part of the family too.

His health has always been dicey. He has upper respiratory issues and now there's kidney failure. She of course, is a wreck. He's only eight years old... I'm thankful I believe in an afterlife.....Please keep my friend Nancy, Joey, and his brother Tommy in your thoughts. I'm on my way to pick her up b/c I want to be with her when it happens. I'm afraid once it hits me I'll feel like I've been punched.

I'm watching Active Measures (documentary about Putin, The

Russians, and dt) now. I just started it...
