Trump revealed his sick plan in his announcement speech

Looking back to Trump's Presidential announcement speech last November, this particular section still sends chills down my spine.

"Criticism is being placed on the fact that the Republican party should have done better, and frankly, much of this blame is correct, but the citizens of our country have not yet realized the full extent and gravity of the pain our nation is going through and the total effect of the suffering is just starting to take hold.

They don’t quite feel it yet but they will very soon. I have no doubt that by 2024, it will sadly be much worse and they will see much more clearly what happened and what is happening to our country and the voting will be much different."

Here Trump said the quiet part out loud and revealed the Republicans diabolical plan to refuse to raise the debt ceiling. Thereby wrecking the economic recovery Biden and Democrats have worked so hard to achieve since Trump left it in shambles 2 years before.

His speech essentially said, "American voters don't agree with my view that the country is an apocalyptic hellhole that only I can fix. So my MAGA Republicans in the House are going to turn it into one."

They all know destroying the economy and causing a recession will hurt Biden and help Trump win back the White House in 2024. It's a twisted and evil scheme and the mainstream media is playing along by saying it's Biden's fault for not negotiating with Trump's economic arsonists in congress.

Trump is one sick man backed by an equally sick party. I'm absolutely certain they're going to let the country default on its debts. They'll do anything to get their orange messiah elected President again. They don't care who it hurts.

Difference in how Republicans and Democrats govern

When Republicans are in power they act like they have a mandate and govern like it. Doesn't matter if they lose the popular vote by millions or only have 4 seat majority in the House. They don't try to be partisan or work across the aisle. They see America as an autocracy and they are in control. Their ultimate goal is one party rule where the Democratic Party doesn't exist.

On the other hand when Democrats are in power we bend over backwards to appear nonpartisan and try to bring both parties together for the good of the country. Even though the majority of the country votes for us and supports are agenda.

Republicans are ruthless, cruel and unapologetic. They know because of gerrymandering, the Electoral College, voter suppression and citizens united they'll always win back power even if they lose it.

Democrats are way too nice. When we controlled Congress should have voted to raise the debt limit for at least 10 years when we had the chance. Or removed the stupid thing all together.

Everyone knew if Republicans took back Congress they'd refuse to raise the debt ceiling to destroy the economy and help Trump retake the White House.

This is like 2011 and 2013 all over again. But now Republicans are even more unreasonable and detached from reality. The Tea Party was relatively sane compared to these MAGA arsonists. Most of them don't even know what the debt limit is.

Hopefully Biden and Senate Democrats can reason with these lunatics. And any debt limit increase should last until after the 2024 election at least.

I just can't believe we're in this hostage situation again. Trying to pass a budget in September is already a big enough challenge.

Understanding how Republicans think

I think I solved the riddle of what it takes to become a member of today's Republican party.
1. Remove your capacity for empathy.
2. Never engage in critical thinking.

As long as a person becomes indifferent to anyone else's suffering or circumstances and avoids facts, research and healthy skepticism they'll fit right in with the MAGA cult.

Add in a touch of greed and they'll welcome you with open arms.

Republiguns see mass shootings as natural disasters

It's obvious Republican gun lovers now see mass shootings as natural disasters that can't be avoided like tornadoes, hurricanes, floods and earthquakes.

In their view they're unavoidable tragedies. Nothing can be done to stop them. And like with climate change they deny easy access to assault weapons are a real issue.

They see this as an acceptable way to live and part of God's plan.

Personally I just stay vigilant in public and try to stay out of the line of fire. We're all living in Amerigun: The land of health control and gun care.

Idea: Separate forum "General Discussion: Trump"

Since the orange lunatic isn't going away anytime DU could set up a new forum called "General Discussion - Donald Trump."

He can still be featured in the Latest Breaking News section if actual, real news breaks involving Trump. But everything else (his social media posts, speculation about his legal problems, other tweets & op-eds discussing him) will go in the subforum.

Basically any new thread with Trump in the title.

What do you all think?

Unless Trump is actually indicted and arraigned

The media needs to stop covering Trump's half dozen investigations and his social media trolling 24/7.

Stop trying to leak Grand Jury findings, interview members and second guess what district attorneys are doing. The last week shows the media has no clue if or when Trump is going to be indicted and what the actual charges will be.

In my view they're sabotaging the NYC and Georgia cases by echoing Trump and the Republicans talking points: "The cases are politically motivated. Bragg's case is weak. Indicting a former President will destroy the country and help Trump politically."

The media is once again inadvertently helping Trump the way they frame his legal problems. It may be good for their ratings but their doing the public a diservice.

Unless we actually see a Trump mug shot everything else is smoke and mirrors.

Trump's still the ultimate social media troll

I'm sure Trump's loving all the media attention he's getting from his 4am truth/tweet.

Bottom line he's the one who told the world he MIGHT be arrested. He didn't have to. Bur he knew once he posted that BS he'd upend the news cycle and create chaos. The only thing he's been good at is trolling the news media for the past 8 years.

Just like he didn't have to tell people the FBI searched his home. We would have never known. But he couldn't wait to post about it.
To play the victim and raise money.

The media really needs to figure out a better way to react to this carnival barker. The only real news story today is that a former President is trying to obstruct justice, intimidate witnesses and incite violence.

He continues to play journalists and spineless Republicans like a fiddle.

Trump can't stop breaking the law

Trump's like a one man crime spree. It's like he can't help himself. Guess his goal is to overwhelm investigators, the media and the public with so many potential crimes no one can keep it all straight.

If Trump is awake and not stuffing his face with junk food, odds are he's doing something criminal. They need a new season of "Criminal Minds" based solely on him.

How would the Teflon Don react to being arrested?

Trump acts like he'd welcome a criminal indictment and that it will help him get
re-elected but if or when he actually gets charged how do you think he'll really react to being finger printed, posing for a mugshot and appearing before a judge?

Personally I think he's going to be weak in the knees. Trump's pretended to be a tough guy but he's always had Daddy or high priced lawyers to help him escape accountability.

I get the feeling Trump only truly fears 2 things: Going to jail or becoming irrelevant. If he actually is indicted/arrested for the first time in his charmed life he may find out not all attention is good attention.

Hopefully we'll find out soon.

Beware of Republican trolling by legislation

Many Republican controlled state legislators are unfortunately in session currently which is why we're getting a barrage of insane bills being proposed filed by right wing extremists. Any lawmaker can introduce any crazy, "own the libs" legislation they can think up right now.

The majority of these bills won't even get a vote but they're designed to trigger all sane Americans into anger and troll the media.

It's all a way for Republicans to distract from what they're not doing... passing legislation to help Americans deal with inflation, healthcare costs, gun violence, etc. Actual problems that impact their everyday lives.

Republican lawmakers know exactly what they're doing by proposing these culture war bills. Keep reporters chasing their own tails and cause regular Americans to tune out because they can't handle the nuttiness.
