Performance for the world

Andrea Bocceli's gift this morning.

I am not religious, but Amazing Grace sung by this man in front of the cathedral in Milan, alone, was beautiful.

I am so tired of the time suck all the drama has created

Summer of 2016, we were traveling with friends and she was fascinated with the pre-election behavior of Trump. I kept saying to ignore it, no one can take him seriously and after November we will never see him again.
And here we are, three years later, and it is and has been all this time, impossible for me to ignore what has happened, and the creature that has emerged in full from the candidate. I have found it very difficult to ignore the daily outrages and frustrations, so have spent an inordinate amount of time checking news, reading my favorite pundits, watching a few news shows. Nostalgic for a time when we could go about our lives, secure in the knowledge that at least parts of our government were taking care of business in the interest of the country. Thanks, Obama.
Now this trial is starting and we are getting into the full swing of elections that will determine whether our country and likely the world will survive. This is not how I planned to spend retirement.

For the last three years, every damn day

I have been either repulsed, sickened, outraged or very confused by the abomination occupying our white house. Not just the deformed cheeto, the entire republican party. Today, I am terrified, for the lives of thousands of people in the mideast, and for the very future of our country and our world. I admire and respect our Democrats in Congress, but have no clue what remedy they have.

I miss not having to check news sources every few hours

This constant barrage of news, speculation, what-ifs and maybes is just exhausting. Even during the worst of the criminality of George the Lesser, I did not feel compelled to check multiple news sources at least a dozen times a day. The calm of the Obama years, even with the obstruction and dirty tricks of the repugs we were reassured that the man at the top, and those around him, had our backs and the interests of the majority of our citizens.
Here we are in the midst of the concerted efforts of seemingly every single person with and R after their name to reshape our beloved democracy into the wet dream of a wannabe dictator with delusions of epic grandeur.
I trust that our elected Democrats are doing everything possible to get our country back, and to get right with the world.

Sure was counting on Mueller, big mistake

Two years, thinking all the unbelievable lawlessness we see daily would finally come up for consequences, and nothing.
Think I am fresh out of hope that AG or anyone else on a federal level will do anything but congratulate each other for their win.
Yeah, maybe somewhere in New York wrongs will be righted.
No idea how to deal with the gloating to come.

Anyone see an end to this madness?

Do you think Mueller will end this "presidency", or is 2020 our only hope?
Every single day brings fresh outrage and disgusting behavior. Every day more people are made to suffer real harm to their well being, and our planet is being destroyed. And still, every damn repug seems to support, some more enthusiastically than others, this orange slime that has taken over our country.
I have great hope for 2020, but would sure like this nightmare to end before then.

We have much to be hopeful about in 2020 election

But we have to get there first. This nightmare we are living right now overwhelms my vision of any of the outstanding Dems who are planning to step up for the nomination.
When 2016 happened, I was hopeful that there would be some republicans who would choose country over a perverted flim-flam man. And here we are 2 years later, in the midst of a real catastrophe for millions of our fellow americans, and still, at best we get token lip service from a few timid repugs. We know many of them, McConnell chief among them, have long held the dream of greatly reducing government and ending all "social welfare" programs.
I have no idea how this is going to play out, and am so very grateful to have the strength and wisdom of Pelosi leading our House.

Kavanaugh approval might be good for our side in the midterms

At least that's what I'm telling myself. Anger could help get more Democratic voters to the polls, and make more repugs complacent.
We will see.

Endless scandals, criminality, and evil

This is so exhausting, every day is filled with non stop disasters and outrages. Remember when the biggest problem was how to get all the people who were finally getting health care signed up? When we had a president who made us proud?
Not sure if it will be Mueller or the midterms that will get us back on a good path, or if either will...
Very scary times

Mueller?

Know the cacophony of horror is overwhelming, have i missed any hopeful news from the Mueller probe? Are the mid-terms our best and only hope?
I do see some repugs sort of saying no to the festering slime, but not many.
