I didn't sign up to be chased into the basement of my workplace...

Confessions of Mitch McConnell

I didn't sign up to be chased into the basement of my workplace.
I just wanted a helping hand in my job.

I didn't sign up to have the flag of the Confederacy marched through our Capital.
I just wanted to let them in and walk around a little.

I didn't sign up to thwart the will of the people.
I just wanted to be liked, the way they like him.

I didn't sign up to have my wife's reputation sullied.
I just wanted her family to make more money.

I didn't sign up to rip children from their parents.
I just wanted to pretend I value the family structure.

I didn't sign up to turn our backs on our friends around the world.
I just wanted to get more money from them.

I didn't sign up to support dictators around the world.
I just wanted to feel their power.

I didn't sign up to let Russia pick our President.
I just wanted to make sure they picked one with an (R).

I didn't sign up to destroy the middle class.
I just wanted to move their money to my wealthy donors.

I didn't sign up to destroy our education system.
I just wanted it to be for only some of the people.

I didn't sign up to make bridges collapse.
I just wanted to wait to fix them.

I didn't sign up to drain the economy of a trillion dollars a year.
I just wanted to scare people into funding defense, so I can create jobs in my district.

I didn't sign up to let half a million people die.
I just wanted people to keep working for stock holders so they could keep their houses on the Hamptons.

I didn't sign up for an illness to cause people to lose their homes.
I just wanted to make healthcare a privilege for the privileged.

I didn't sign up to burden my grandchildren with my irresponsible tax collection.
I just wanted them to pay for my donors decadent lifestyle.

I didn't sign up to set fire to the forests, turn farmland into sand, and flood cities with ocean water.
I just wanted oil executives and stock holders to like me.

I didn't sign up to let fellow citizens be beaten and jailed for no reason.
I just wanted to satisfy some people's desire to hurt others.

I didn't sign up to ignore the Constitution.
I just wanted to pick my friends for the court.

I didn't sign up to empower a dictator in the White House.
I just didn't want anyone to talk badly about him.

I didn't sign up to have people sleep outdoors.
I just wanted everyone else to be comfortable.

Now is the perfect microcosm of the difference between Democrats and Republicans. Democrats want

everyone to sacrifice a little for the good of the vulnerable.

Republicans will sacrifice the vulnerable for the good of the few.

About talking-liberally

I am a physical therapist in my mid 50s. I've always followed politics but not as intensely as since Trump announced he was running. Since the election I have been motivated to figure out how the conservatives get people to vote against their own interest. I have a blog: talking-liberally.com.
