a bit of the Sunday Spirit: I Shall Be Released - The Band (Live, from film The Last Waltz)

Featuring guests: Bob Dylan, Ringo Starr, Ronnie Wood, Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, Neil Diamond, Ronnie Hawkins And Van Morrison

This one always chokes me up a bit ...

Although, happily, an almost surprisingly high % of people onscreen on this one are thankfully still with us, so there's that.

RIP Levon & Richard & Rick ...

For the Zep fans out there ... I give you ... Greta Van Fleet ...

I've always said ... hey, if you're going to shamelessly ape some old band, you could do infinitely worse than copping classic Zep ... and these (very pretty, I might add) young men do it pretty damn convincingly.

I esp. love the axeman's (who is, as one can obviously deduce, the identical twin of the singer ... and the bass player is their younger brother) tone on this one ... ya gotta love them vintage SG w.tube distortion soundz ...

Enjoy ... there's also some vids of their Coachella perf from last weekend on youtube that are worth watching. Such as this one ... one of my good buddies was there, and he turned me onto these guys earlier this week ... this is just pure live Zep right here man. I really dig their guitarist.

Robert P. has personally blessed them, and even implied he's jealous of the lead singer lol ... and Sir Elton had them play some occasion recently for him & hubby. Pretty high accolades in my book

Since you liked that last lost Zeppelin demo, I got another one for ya, from LZ II sessions ...

Not QUITE as badass, but still really cool, esp. after the first minute or so ... which isn't bad but it totally changes into something better ... I give you La La ... would've loved some vocals on this one ...

Think you know every Zeppelin song? Ever heard the instrumental, hard rockin' Bron-Y-Aur Stomp?

From teh bonus cd of the 2014 remastered, reissues that Jimmy curated, this one from LZIII, of course ... I give you ... Jennings Farm Blues ... and it's BADASS ...

Guess What Song The Lyrics Are From - NO GOOGLE CHEATING ...

NEW RULE: Please Put Song Title/Artist Name i.e. actual answers in your message BODY, not the Subject Line
This gives new visitors a shot at guessing on one's that are already answered w/o seeing the answer in the thread list - THANK YOU!!!

Let's try to not either be TOO obvious (no "Here I Am On The Road Again, Here I Am Up on Stage" ) ... and at the same time, not too obscure (no "this song was only ever released as the B-Side of the UK import of the 12" Club Mix Version" type of stuff) ... try to come up with something semi-recognizable ... but that still makes your fellow DU'ers have to comb their memory banks a bit ...

To that end, I'm setting a 2 line max for your hints, and obviously don't put the song title in your hint

And lets try to stick to artists/bands that at least 1/3 the population have likely heard of, and songs that are considered at least 'hits', if not 'iconic' for said artists ... and lyrics which are intelligible when listening to the song ... but not TOO obvious. An example of something I'd say would violate this rule would be "We'll kill the fatted calf tonight so stick around" ... everyone on earth knows that song, but there's only maybe about 2% of people who know 'that's what he says there', and it's obvious that it's almost impossible to just listen to and know ... that's what he says.

So lets avoid that sort of thing.

In case you're wondering, that's from Bennie and The Jets.

I'll start ... knowing this'll be real easy for at least a few folks ...

That's why if you please
I am on my bended knees
