The secretive world of corona virus research.

I'm posting this recent Newsweek because it adds some new information about the mysterious Wuhan lab and some scientists here in the States. I apologize for the stuff at the beginning about Dr. Faucci. I don't think that's important. But the stuff afterwards is pretty eye opening, for those who have an interest.

Why they call him 'Big Papi'.

He's the Boston Red Sox legend David Ortiz. The greatest clutch hitter I've ever seen. The man who single handedly brought an end to The Curse of the Bambino (Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.).
I always wondered why he was called Big Papi. I just found out:

Elon Musk sold another billion in Tesla shares Tuesday.

If he keeps this up it will actually amount to pocket change!

Keanu Reeves says he's still married to Wynnona Ryder.

Now I know why she never returned my calls!

The Buttigieg Presidential buzz has penetrated the White House.

All I'll say is that with the coverage he has been getting in the last ten days he won't be firing HIS Communications Director.

What kind of Democrat is NYC's Eric Adams?

If you haven't met him before you might want to check him out. He has Mad political skills!

Malcolm X's Five Surviving Daughters.

I always hesitate to link to the NY Post but I read the Autobiography of Malcolm X many years ago and found this story interesting. Perhaps someone else will as well.

Sam Waterston reminisces about Katharine Hepburn.

To read it you have to answer a question.

Covid vaccines are effective!

Some interesting info from today's NYT

For most people, the vaccines remain remarkably effective at turning Covid into a manageable illness thatís less dangerous than some everyday activities.

The main dividing line is age. In Minnesota, which publishes detailed Covid data, the death rate for fully vaccinated people under 50 during the Delta surge this year was 0.0 per 100,000 ó meaning, so few people died that the rate rounds to zero.

Washington State is another place that publishes statistics by age and vaccination status. In its most recent report, Washington did not even include a death rate for fully vaccinated residents under 65. It was too low to be meaningful.

He makes the point that boosters are necessary for the elderly and truly immunocompromised. But a good idea for others because it will probably for a time give you good protection from any infection so you won't spread it to the truly vulnerable. Worth a read.

Target announces it will never open on Thanksgiving again.

For some reason this story cheers me up a bit.https://www.cnn.com/2021/11/22/business/target-thanksgiving-stores-closed/index.html
