surviving a zombie apocalypse cardio

We had a few police officers die this week from Covid. They were are large men in thier forties and fifties.

We had half a dozen teachers die as well... per the photos, all of them also seemed of a certain size.

It seems clear whenever I see a program highlighting someone who tragically died of Covid invariably two things are evident more than not. They are unvaccinated and they are obese.

We have children dying becuase they cannot yet get vaccinated and they are vulnerable because of their excessive weight and lack of fitness.

It is clear that the lung health and overall health seem to have a considerable benefit for a good outcome from this plague. Yet I can't help but notice how everyone seems to go out of thier way to leave this unmentioned.

This is in no way to downplay the need of getting vaccinated. That is job one.

But cardio is job two to survive the plague. This has been obvious from day one. The more we ignore the need or good lung health and a healthy weight, the more people that will suffer needlessly.

I have three nationalities. Certainly one of them should allow me to move to New Zealand.

I know new Zealand isn't perfect what with the high cost of living, occasional earthquakes and that whole one ring to rule them all debacle a few years ago.

Still, it seems so civilized for a country filled with rural white farmers.

Why can't we be a civilized as they are?

Police say a man may have died after using a high-powered epoxy resin to seal his private parts during intercourse to ensure protection from pregnancy.

A local police investigator reportedly said that 25-year-old Salman Mirza decided to use the epoxy instead of a condom and it may have complicated his health condition.

"Since they did not have any protection, they decided to apply the adhesive on his private parts to ensure that she does not get pregnant," the paper reported.

And of course the money quote.... Police said that Mirza "died due to multiple organ failure."



This is like a Darwin winner squared.

Toddler Cites Freedom Of Choice In Refusal To Use Potty

CHESANING, MI—Noting that it was her right as an American citizen to decide when and where she would urinate and defecate, 3-year-old Madison Ackrite told reporters Wednesday that she was simply exercising her constitutionally guaranteed freedom of choice when she refused to use the potty. “My decision to pee-pee and poo-poo in the place of my choosing is a private health decision,” said Ackrite, noting that there was still a lot she didn’t know about the potty, and until she had done enough research to satisfy her concerns, she would continue to relieve herself in her pull-up diapers, as was her right in accordance with the rule of law. “Unlike a lot of the kids in my daycare, I am not a sheep. If you want to use the potty, that is your personal choice, and no one is stopping you. All I ask is that you respect my decision, which is based on my personal belief that I hate going to the potty. I hate it, hate it, hate it!” At press time, Ackrite refused to answer whether or not she had emptied her bowels on the living room floor, arguing that her refusal to divulge such information was protected by the courts.

Fire chief: Only about 30% of St. Pete first responders are vaccinated

When St. Petersburg fire officials revealed to city leaders on Thursday that their best guess is less than 30% of first responders are vaccinated, they had to explain their findings.

“The last time we tried to wrap our arms around it was back in the spring, and the best we could come away with was 30%,” said St. Petersburg Fire & Rescue EMS Chief Ian Womack, “It’s very difficult to measure because there’s no mandatory reporting when you get the vaccine.”

Still, the number was very troubling to Mayor Rick Kriseman.

“From my perspective, if you’re not vaccinated but yet you’re a first responder, it raises an issue of if you’re living up to your oath,” Kriseman said.

I know this is a union thing in many ways but seriously the city should be able to dismiss any employee not fully vaccinated at this time. They are putting the public at risk and that trumps a contract or employee rights.

So I noticed everyone is wearing masks again in Florida.

Just came back from Costco where 2 weeks ago maybe 10% of the people wore masks now almost a 100%. No mandate just common people using common sense.

Most people just don't want to get sick and get others sick. The maskholes and the doomsters are a true minority. Only loud on social media. But in reality both groups are a tiny part of real Americans who are simply going about their lives.

Shame on Honduras. Such overt racism has no place in the Olympics. Good for Germany for standing up for what is right.

WAKAYAMA, Japan (AP) — Germany’s Olympic soccer team walked off the field during a preparation match for the Tokyo Games on Saturday in response to alleged racist abuse from an opposing Honduras player toward German defender Jordan Torunarigha.

The players left the field together with five minutes remaining in the game after Torunarigha was “racially insulted,” the German soccer federation said on Twitter.

“If one of our players is racially abused, it’s not an option for us to keep playing,” Germany coach Stefan Kuntz said.“It was hard to get him in, he was terribly upset because he said he was repeatedly racially abused,” Kuntz continued. “For us it’s clear, this violates our values, we cannot tolerate it. We’ll take our player completely under our protection.”

Any traumatic experience — like a breakup, health scare, death in the family or financial crisis — has a way of destabilizing social networks. We instinctively gravitate toward those who provide comfort and support and reflexively withdraw from those who drain and drag us down.

It was no different at the height of the pandemic, except that the risk of infection meant we had to be more intentional, and maybe even a little calculating, about who we allowed in our orbit. For many, the pruning process was illuminating, if not a little liberating. Covid-19 provided an excuse to shed unsatisfying and unfulfilling relationships, while giving people the time and space to strengthen bonds with those they truly cared about.

Indeed, depressed friends make it more likely you’ll be depressed, obese friends make it more likely you’ll become obese, and friends who smoke or drink a lot make it more likely you’ll do the same. The reverse is also true: You will be more studious, kind and enterprising if you consort with studious, kind and enterprising people. That is not to say that you should abandon friends when they are having a hard time. But it’s a good idea to be mindful of who you are spending the majority of your time with — whether on- or off-line — because your friends’ prevailing moods, values and behaviors are likely to become your own.

What are the hallmarks of good foreground friends? Foremost, they make you feel better about the world and about yourself. They are there for you, listen to you and, while they may not always agree with you, they get you. There’s a sense of mutuality and reciprocity in terms of helping and engagement. And crucially, you fundamentally enjoy being with them, just as they enjoy being with you.

Interesting piece that raised some eyebrows by recommending to distance oneself from your depressed and obese friends. that Twitter bait aside they is a lot to recommend in terms of looking at one's friendships and avoiding people that seem to bring you down rather than lift you up or whose lifestyle choices are a bad influence on where you want to be and become.
After all we have our family to visit with a few times a year if we really need exposure to that sort of thing.
