I'd just like to say thanks to whomever does the website maintenance around here.

The new tab menu was broken for me from its rollout up until a couple days ago. Now it's working and I love it!

Thanks everybody

I'm making a new post instead of replying to everybody separately.

Thanks so much for the support and well wishes that you posted in my post about being in the hospital. I'm still in but feeling better now that I've slept and been eating. The cause of my problem is still a mystery but they're very confident they'll get me fixed up. They're basically throwing the kitchen sink at me.

I didn't watch any football, but I did watch the parades, a nice nurse reminded me they were on. They made us a nice thanksgiving lunch, turkey, potatoes, stuffing, green beans, and pumpkin pie. Hospital food gets a bad rap but everything I've had so far has been good. Even the coffee is decent and I can be picky when it comes to coffee.

Oh, I found the PBS station and MSNBC, so now I have that to watch too along with C SPAN.

Again, thank you all.

I'm currently in the hospital.

Out of 54 TV channels, the only one that's tolerable to watch (I.E. doesn't have 45 minutes of ads per hour) is C-SPAN.

Came back here after a while of being too busy with life.

WOW what an interface change. This is gonna take some getting used to.

Well, I finally got a jury duty questionnaire in the mail.

I've never served jury duty before. I'm not sure if I should be stressed or excited. Either way, I'm stressed out over it. Not even an official summons yet, obviously no guarantee I'll get one, and yet I'm stressed about this! Even though I know that if I get one, this will most likely be just 6-8 hours of my life and then I won't have to do it again for a long time.

Anyhoo, any tips or pointers from anybody who has served jury duty before?

Introduction

The robot borg suggested that I post an introduction here, so why not. I'll try to keep it semi-brief. I'm from rural PA, love to cook, need to put up some new bookshelves, and I'm interested in way too many things. I don't have a coffee pot, I have a coffee urn that makes 3 quarts at a time and it's permanently stationed right next to my computer. At any given moment I have at least 7 books out from the two different libraries I have cards at. I have a sun allergy and a heat intolerance that gets worse by the year; this year it seems like 73-75 F is when I start to feel like I'm boiling. What a great thing to have in the era of climate change, eh?

I chose JFK as my picture because I had a grandmother and a step-grandmother that loved him just about as much as they loved god. The step-grandmother was a hardcore FDR Democrat. The grandmother, before she passed, would start complaining about Trump within 5 minutes of picking up the phone when you called her. Unfortunately she didn't live to see Joe actually take the oath, but she did live to see him win.

I guess an explanation of my username would be good. I happen to like typewriters (have my 1961 Royal Empress right next to me as we speak) and I was listening to this album, one of my favorite albums of all time, when I made the account. I mashed em both together into Axelrod's Typewriter. It sounded pretty damn cool. "Create account".

I'll end it like this: You ever put something on the grocery list, get in the store, forget why you put it on there, buy it anyway, and only later remember why you put it on there? I just had that moment. With a package of elbow macaroni. It's going into a pot of goulash.
