Koch Rat

Okay guys, I read and lurk more than I post or reply. Been here though in some form since it began. Usually a lurker. Lol

I freaking HAD to share this.

Kiddo leaving on school trip for photography ❤️ and had to be at school at 4:30. A.M. 🤦?♀️

Dropped off. Eyelids propped open. Leave her school and the Koch compound here in Wichita is literally just down the block.

It’s big and I sometimes have seen deer near the fence. So I was looking for one. Instead I see a rat. Huge. Size of my head. At first I thought it was a possum. But nope. Casually stroll across the street, meet up with another giant ass rat by the fence, then duck in together.

The Koch compound has rats. Massive ones. Lol! 🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀

I have a sudden and significant heart murmur...

…it developed in two weeks. Waiting for cardiologist but could tell my doctor was really freaked out.

I’m pretty freaked out but it reinforces my thinking that I had Covid before the lockdown. I developed type 2 diabetes in 2021 and now this.

I’m on bed rest until my next round of tests. I may have to do more than lurk and read.

Anyone with it, too? Advice? I’m 51 and the only child caregiver for my 90-year-old Dad.

My 89-year-old dad has Covid

We all tried so hard to keep him safe. But he forgot his mask when he went to the store.

He was in pain yesterday and called for help. It apparently triggers his shingles nerve damage and it was so bad I wondered if he was having a heart attack or just needed to go to the ER. But, knowing he was triple vaxxed and careful and from being around him all the time - I didn’t mask at his house. Forced him to the drive through testing and dammit if he doesn’t have it. 😳

Now I’m quarantined at his house with his grumpy a$$.

Aside from his pain, he says it’s like a bad cold. So that’s good.

Just ironic that we’ve tried so hard to keep him safe and he’s the Typhoid Mary that will have given it to me. I get tested tomorrow. 🤦?♀️

I got my Fauci Ouchie!

Made me super dizzy and lightheaded at first. It went away quickly.

One down, one to go. But I’m already so relieved!

Cowboy poets

Hello all! I’m a writer and horrible at poetry (although I do enjoy reading it) but I’m working on a play about a cowboy poet. Most of the poems will be from a singer/songwriter and are complete. But I’m trying to absorb as much as I can on my end of this genre.

Does anyone have a poet or a compilation they favor that you could recommend?

Thanks!

Advice?

One of my clients is a restaurant and while I have food staging experience and some decent equipment- I’m struggling with the light and glare in the restaurant for photography.

I’m no photography expert. I’M a writer doing social media. I’m barely above novice but it’s the only client I am struggling with. I can’t use a box or go shoot after hours so there’s less glare. And client wants environmental photos showing it’s taken in the dining room.

Spent forever trying to shoot this.

This one ok.

But compared to my other clients, it’s a struggle. Without a huge investment in more equipment- ideas?

WaPo - UK virus

Several top infectious-disease experts said Monday the variant may not have originated in the United Kingdom. Instead, it may have been identified there first because the United Kingdom has a robust monitoring system that has examined tens of thousands of genomic sequences of virus samples.

The United States has lagged in sequencing and does not have nearly the same level of virus surveillance.

“It may very well be here. It may have even started here. The sequencing in the U.S. is so sporadic,” said Jeremy Luban, a virologist at the University of Massachusetts Medical School

Gravy. Just wanted to share.

Made this “make-ahead” gravy yesterday in between candy making and organizing my Tupperware drawer 😂 Took forever but was yummy.

Saved half for Turkey day and used half with roasted chicken quarters at dinner. Really good gravy. Probably the best I’ve ever made.

We’re smoking our turkey so I added a dash of liquid smoke. And I put a quarter cup of powdered cream in with my flour to make it richer - but I’m not sure I needed it!
