I am so distraught from reading this I don’t have the energy to quote from the article.

Liam Cornejo Ramos is very sick in that damn detention center.

Ice cream flavors to honor 47

I am in the process of downsizing my email in an account and I found a link to a DU post in 2009 that went like this:

Ben & Jerry created "Yes Pecan!" ice cream flavor for Obama.
For George W. they created "_________".

DU in 2009 did not disappoint (this thread is archived)

I know Ben and Jerry probably would not honor 47 -- but we can only imagine. C'mon DU, don't let me down! We need something to laugh at!

Kennedy Center to be renamed Trump-Kennedy Center, White House Says

Source: CNBC

The John F. Kennedy Memorial Center for the Performing Arts, commonly known as the Kennedy Center, will be renamed the “Trump-Kennedy Center,” White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said Thursday.

The prestigious Washington, D.C., cultural center’s board of trustees, who were appointed by President Donald Trump in February, “have just voted unanimously” on the name change, Leavitt said in an X post.

I thought this was Onion….

I grew up during the politically motivated assassination attempts since the 1960's

And the only two people of that group who preached incendiary language were Malcolm X and George Wallace. Wallace didn’t die immediately from his injuries but was paralyzed for life. Reagan said a lot of shit but not to the extent of CK.

When learning of CK’s assassination, I was naturally shocked. However, I have boundaries on the capacity to mourn his loss; I am in one of those categories he disparaged. CK’s words were harmful, degrading, and disrespectful. I am glad he does not have the capacity to say those things any more. However, I am sure there is someone picking up CK’s torch and running with it.

I hope CK’s family finds some sense and meaning in his loss and perhaps see this as a “turning point” to bring back civility to their friends, family and the nation. Repudiate all the nasty things he said. But I am not holding my breath on it.

Nearly one month in: WWKD?

Do any of you feel like me? Please tell me that I am not alone: that every time the orange clown does or says something insufferably stupid, I think, “what would it be like had Kamala been elected president?”

Hypothetical question after the fact: suppose there were casualties to Congress on J6-

For example, the deaths also included congressional members — or even worse, had Mike Pence been assaulted, you think pardons would have happened?

It hurts that police officers died in the line of duty. But those deaths and injuries meant nothing to that dotard.

The dotard's dream of a Nobel Peace Prize

Just asking the DU-verse. My observations have been Pres. Obama’s Nobel Peace Prize lives rent free in the dotard’s brain.

And I perceive he wants this prize to legitimize himself. But I think the Nobel Peace Prize selection committee would not consider him; he had been nominated before.

I would think a selection would be unlikely because of his crimes and January 6.

Does the dotard really have a snowball’s chance in hell of ever winning the ultimate in humanitarian honors?

Backlash on "a woman whose anger needs to be paid attention to" (Cross-Post)

https://www.democraticunderground.com/100219704433

The comments are rich - but proves my point. Folks are uncomfortable with "truth before peace". How dare a Black woman tell the non-melinated about some of their kind?

One thing the pandemic shutdown taught me

That I could do just fine living like a hermit and rarely come out socializing (except by zoom). I am still not comfortable going out except for necessary events.

I have a feeling we’re going to see another pandemic and the dotard will treat it the same way he did with covid. And I’ll be OK in the house. just plant flowers, watch birds, sip on tea.
