Michigander_Life's JournalAre the protests in Ferguson winding down?
The coverage is waning. The number of protesters is dwindling, as are the number of arrests and reports of lawlessness. Will everything blow over until the 2015 summer TV trial of Officer Wilson?
Folks like Crump
http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benjamin_CrumpThis guy was deep in the Trayvon case and it seemed like he made some poor decisions in that situation. Decisions which raised tensions but weakened the overall case against Zimmerman.
Now he has showed up again with the Michael Brown case. And he's parading the witnesses on TV, allowing them to give interviews again and again. Any variance between the witness accounts will be exploited by Wilson's defense attorneys.
So, why is Crump doing this? Why is he deliberately undermining the case against Wilson?
It seems to me that someone who makes their living on the back of racial tension, and then who seems act against the interests of his clients to increase that tension, should NOT be trusted.
[AUDIO] Witness comments contradict Dorian Johnson, claim Brown was coming at Wilson
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2727321/Conversation-recorded-bystander-just-moments-Michael-Brown-shooting-casts-doubt-claims-teen-surrendered-Officer-Darren-Wilson.htmlConversation recorded by bystander just moments after Michael Brown shooting casts doubt on claims the teen surrendered to Officer Darren Wilson
Instead of Brown being fired on while his hands were raised in surrender, the witness claims that Brown was moving towards the officer when he was shot.
While this version of events does not match most of the eyewitness accounts, it does seem to tally up in a small part with the account of what occurred given by a friend of Wilson.
CAUGHT ON CAMERA: THE SNIPPET OF CONVERSATION BETWEEN EYEWITNESS AND MAN THAT COULD PROVE VITAL
Begins at 6:28/6:29 of video
Man 1: 'Howd he get from there to there?'
Eyewitness: 'Because he ran, the police was still in the truck cause he was like over the truck'
Eyewitness: 'But him and the police was both in the truck, then he ran the police got out and ran after him'
Eyewitness: 'Then the next thing I know he doubled back toward him cus - the police had his gun drawn already on him'
Man 1: 'Oh, the police got his gun'
Eyewitness: 'The police kept dumpin on him, and Im thinking the police kept missing he like be like but he kept coming toward him(crosstalk)'
Eyewitness: 'Police fired shots the next thing I know the police was missing'
Man 1: 'The Police?'
Eyewitness: 'The Police shot him'
Man 1: 'Police?'
Eyewitness: 'The next thing I know Im thinking the dude started running then something about he took it from him'
Was Michael Brown surrendering to, or attacking, Officer Wilson?
The autopsy report -- privately done and commissioned by the Brown family -- indicates that Michael was either surrendering or charging the officer. The officer says he was charging. The witnesses say he was shot in the back (proven not to be true).
I think Brown was on his knees and executed.

Three different autopsies: trouble for trial?
It is now being reported that in addition to autopsies conducted by the Missouri medical examiner and the private autopsy ordered by Brown's family, a third autopsy has been ordered by the Justice department.
What will this mean for Wilson's future trial, if all three autopsies are conflicting? Which one will be credible? I'm concerned that we are going to see another bungled prosecution.
Consequences of Curfew: Shooting & Tear Gas [video]
Are the people rioting and shooting using Michael Brown's murder as an excuse to misbehave? There are numerous reports that the ones rioting, looting and being violent aren't from Ferguson, but have driven there to capitalize on the anarchy.
Police in Ferguson & OSHA violations
The Missouri highway police, clad in traditional blues, have replaced the St. Louis county police, who had been clad from head toe in riot gear -- helmets, shields, vests, etc.
While the county's use of tear gas, rubber bullets and flash bang style grenades, against innocent protesters, was clearly improper, I don't think that their use of Personal Protective Equipment (helmets, armor and shields) was inappropriate. There was and still is violent rioting separate from the protesters.
Last night, three highway troopers were injured in the looting and rioting.
The Missouri highway patrol has a duty to provide PPE to it's employees. I don't think their desire to present a kinder, gentler image supersedes the employee's right to work in a safe environment with adequate access to PPE.
OSHA defines PPE as:
Personal protective equipment, commonly referred to as "PPE", is equipment worn to minimize exposure to serious workplace injuries and illnesses. These injuries and illnesses may result from contact with chemical, radiological, physical, electrical, mechanical, or other workplace hazards. Personal protective equipment may include items such as gloves, safety glasses and shoes, earplugs or muffs, hard hats, respirators, or coveralls, vests and full body suits.

How do I find out about employer responsibilities and worker rights?
Workers have a right to a safe workplace. The law requires employers to provide their employees with working conditions that are free of known dangers. The OSHA law also prohibits employers from retaliating against employees for exercising their rights under the law (including the right to raise a health and safety concern or report an injury). For more information see www.whistleblowers.gov or worker rights.
I hope that Captain Johnson isn't setting himself up for some serious liability. Someone needs to blow the whistle on this.
There is nothing wrong with Porn & Prostitution
Both industries should be completely legal, regulated and taxed. It is disheartening to see so many people try to force their morality on consenting adults. There are even self-proclaimed feminists trying limit what women choose to do with their own bodies. It's simply insane. Luckily most of the folks on this website expressing such draconian, anti-women views are quickly shouted down.
