A music teacher at a Catholic school in the Diocese of Brooklyn was fired for violating a morality clause he agreed to at the time of his employment, said a statement from the diocese.

“Matthew LaBanca no longer serves as the music teacher at St. Joseph Catholic Academy or as the Music Director at Corpus Christi Church,” said a statement from St. Joseph Catholic Academy in Astoria and Corpus Christi Church in Woodside provided to CNA by Adriana Rodriguez, press secretary for the Diocese of Brooklyn.

A man on the FBI’s Most Wanted List for allegedly attacking police during the Jan. 6 U.S. Capitol riot is now seeking asylum in Belarus, the ex-Soviet country’s state-run television reported Sunday.

Evan Neumann, 48, is wanted in the United States on charges of violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds, as well as for assaulting, resisting and obstructing law enforcement during civil disorder. Neumann denies the charges as “unfounded.”

Neumann sold his California home in spring and was thought to have moved to Ukraine to evade arrest, ABC News reported this summer.

“Judging by his story, [Neumann] is the same type of simple American whose shops were burned by Black Lives Matter activists,” a Belarus 1 TV channel presenter said, echoing a common talking point on Russian state television.

Adults who try to persuade children to change their gender will face criminal sanctions under government plans.
From next spring it will be illegal to convince someone to change their sexuality or gender identity, with extra safeguards to protect adolescents.

Government sources suggested that individuals working for organisations such as Mermaids, a charity that offers advice and counselling to children with gender dysphoria, could face criminal sanctions if they were found guilty of encouraging under 18s to change gender.

Under the proposals, medical professionals such as psychiatrists and doctors will escape sanctions. Informal advice sought from family and friends will also not be criminalised. However, all other counselling offered to children under 18 will be outlawed and adults will have to consent to take part in therapy. The laws will be introduced after a consultation.

The video, which was first posted Wednesday by Right Wing Watch, showed the first-term Republican making the comments during a speech at Asbury Baptist Church in June.

“There’s no reason anybody, anywhere in America should be telling children about transgenderism, homosexuality, any of that filth,” Mark Robinson said in the video, which has gone viral. “Yes, I called it filth.”
