Think-b4-U-act's JournalA Guaranteed Winner - Think Outside The Box
Like the Republicans, chose someone from show business. The main job of a President is using the bully pulpit to communicate with people and get his/her programs passed. Of course, a strong VP would also be necessary. Pick experts to head the Departments in the Cabinet and rely on them. Perhaps even announcing some of them before the election. Someone like Jon Steward would have more credence than Donald Trump had when he was elected. He/she would be outsiders not contaminated by the Washington swamp and no record that can be attacked. Two of the Presidents who had the most impact as far as effecting government policy over the last 50 were Reagan and Trump. Both from show business and considered underdogs when they started.
Our Most Important Question
I had begun another thread that asked the question "Why can a person not have private insurance in an M4A system?" One of the replies to me stated "This is a battle Democrats don't need to have, when the greatest existential threat to world democracy is hanging around like a bad smell in the WH." I realized I agreed with him or her 100%.
I wish all our candidates would agree on building on and fixing Obama-care with the goal of ultimately having Medicare for all who want it. Take it off the table. It will be used to pummel us by Republicans with all sorts of fear-mongering. As was stated, we face "the greatest existential threat to world democracy" we have ever faced. This makes my concerns about M4A meaningless. Remember, the Supreme Court determines the meaning of all laws and RBG is 85 y/o. If we lose, can she serve until she is 89? This threat we now face is greater than Hitler because it is already here.
I would like to know what you think. What is the strategy we should follow? Should we drop those things we may like in order to unite around a core set of beliefs that are not divisive for us. We can not repeat what we did in 2016, when we ripped ourselves apart. Our democracy will not survive it.
Could someone please tell me
Why a person can not have private insurance in an M4A system? I see no reason why a person must give up the insurance they already have if they are happy with it. I just don't understand why we are having this debate. It seems to be common sense for the government not to take away from people something they like. Moreover, it seems damn stupid for this to be the centerpiece of a political campaign.
