awesomerwb1's JournalLaken Riley Act: "Republicans were surprised by how many Democrats folded like cheap f***ng suits". The Bulwark
Kind reminder to please call your Senators to vote No on this horrible bill. This bill does away with due process and supercharges extreme AGs like Paxton and others to supersede federal immigration laws. If this bill passes, anyone will be able to call a hotline to maliciously accuse someone of stealing/shoplifting etc to have them detained indefinitely.

When it comes to Trump world, the projection of fear is not a bug: It is a feature of their revitalized deportation machine. Just this past week, according to an NBC News report, the Trump transition team warned of showcase workplace raids, possibly in the Washington, D.C. area, which has activist and immigrant communities on high alert in neighboring Maryland and Virginia. Tom Homan, Trumps incoming border czar, separately told NBC he plans to bring a fresh idea to the tablea hotline for Americans to report undocumented immigrants they suspect of having committing crimes, which is of course ripe for abuse. And in that same report, Homan casually remarked that people without criminal records will get caught in the deportation dragnet, too.
Though such policies may seem far fetched and extreme, its not beyond the realm of possibility that Trumps team actually deploys them. Others are trying to, as well. An incoming Missouri senator, Republican David Gregory, already introduced a bill that would give residents of the state $1,000 a pop to turn in undocumented immigrants as part of a bounty program.
A Democrat who has been in constant contact with aides on the Hill said that Republicans who had been pushing the Laken Riley Act largely as a political messaging exercise did not anticipate that it would become law. Republicans were surprised by how many Democrats folded like cheap fucking suits, the Democrat added.
"In four years, you don't have to vote again, we'll have it fixed so good you're not going to have to vote." - Trump
I'm angry, also devastated about what happened less than 48 hours ago. Feel horrible for our country and also our planet. I'm also scared:
Remember this?
"Christians, get out and vote, just this time. "You won't have to do it anymore. Four more years, you know what, it will be fixed, it will be fine, you won't have to vote anymore, my beautiful Christians."
He added: "I love you Christians. I'm a Christian. I love you, get out, you gotta get out and vote. In four years, you don't have to vote again, we'll have it fixed so good you're not going to have to vote," Trump said.
In El Salvador, Central America, there is a young leader named Bukele. He dismantled the country's supreme court and appointed his buddies who somehow "found" a loop hole in the Constitution that he used to run for re-election (the Constitution doesn't (didn't?)) allow re-elections. Some of the "luminaries" who showed up to Bukele's second inauguration: Don "Cocaine", Tucker Carlson, Matta Gaetz.
Could it happen here???
Who are the most brilliant/inspiring young politicians in the Democratic party?
As we await the final breakdown of the vote by age group, very curious to see how well the 18-40 age group did.
We need people like Pete Buttigieg and............and..........and...........etc to inspire and bring more young people into the mix.
The work has to start now while we still can.
Edit: I was just interested in young politicians. I love Pete, I think he's brilliant and is not polarizing like others who are a lot older than him.
How much vetting (or "vetting") do Dem candidates for office go through?
Besides what I would imagine would be a criminal background check, can anyone just say "I'm going to run for district XXXXXXXX etc and I have 10,000 supporters". Just curious to know how the whole process works from A to Z.
I got a secret email from someone SUPER well connected 48 hours ago: it's Kamala Harris for VP
Sorry to spoil it for everyone. You read it here first.
Bernie fan:"If Joe Biden didn't have dead children t use to try to win an election he'd invent them"
A Bernie supporter actually tweeted this. What a disgusting thing to say. And she has other bernie fans agreeing with her.
I have no words.

Call Justice Robert's office and leave him a message!
Been seeing tweets about calling Justice Roberts office.
Someone posted that a real person actually took her call and then transferred her to voicemail when she said she wanted to leave him a message. The number is: 202-479-3472
Request that he intervene to make this a fair trial with witnesses and documents.

Please use this in every social media platform you're going to be posting on today (and forever I guess).
This needs to be tied to the MAGA movement perpetually. Eventually maybe even the mainstream media will call him that (I know Sybil, not holding my breath).
