Why was Spicer invited to the Emmys? It's disturbing how easily he's been given a pass by the media.

The laughing at the end is mind-blowing.

He completely disrespected our country and his office.

There was no apology nor any indication of remorse on his part for any of this. Yet it seems our media thinks it's fair to treat it all as water under the bridge now, like they were all in on the joke.

it's time Democrats show our great President some support

Us democrats should all come out rallying with MAGA hats cheering Trump for his decision to strike a deal with Dem leadership. We should give a favorable opinion of him in public polls. A lot of the media seems to be persuaded he's finally moderating. Probably not, but maybe we can make that a reality.
Of course we won't ever vote for him, but we can make it look like we're ready to support him. It'll make the trump supporters' heads explode. They chose a candidate that needed affirmation which they thought only they could provide and use as leverage.

Putin claims leading development in weaponized AI will soon be the key to world domination

MOSCOW (AP) — Russian President Vladimir Putin says that whoever reaches a breakthrough in developing artificial intelligence will come to dominate the world.

Putin, speaking Friday at a meeting with students, said the development of AI raises "colossal opportunities and threats that are difficult to predict now."

He warned that "the one who becomes the leader in this sphere will be the ruler of the world."

Putin warned that "it would be strongly undesirable if someone wins a monopolist position" and promised that Russia would be ready to share its know-how in artificial intelligence with other nations.

The Russian leader predicted that future wars will be fought by drones, and "when one party's drones are destroyed by drones of another, it will have no other choice but to surrender."

Trump administration cuts funding for health care sign-ups out of spite

https://www.cnbc.com/2017/08/31/trump-administration-cuts-funding-for-health-care-sign-ups.html

-The Trump administration is announcing sharp cuts in programs promoting health care enrollment under the Affordable Care Act for next year
-Health and Human Services officials say advertising will be cut to $10 million for the 2018 open enrollment season

Activists hold signs during a Stop 'Trumpcare' rally May 4, 2017 in front of the Capitol in Washington, DC.

The Trump administration is announcing sharp cuts in programs promoting health care enrollment under the Affordable Care Act for next year.

In a call with reporters, Health and Human Services officials say advertising will be cut to $10 million for the 2018 open enrollment season. That's down from $100 million for the 2017 sign-up season.

Funding for consumer helpers called "navigators" will also be cut, from $62.5 million for 2017, to about $36 million for next year.

Andy Slavitt, former Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services administrator under the Obama administration, said that the Trump administration's decision to cut funding for navigators will hit hardest in poor, rural communities where insurers may not fill in the gap on outreach.

"These aren't budget decisions … these are all funds that come out of user fees paid by the insurance companies. This wouldn't cost the federal government a nickel," said Slavitt. "They're basically not going to not us the user fees ... it's hard to interpret this as anything other than being done out of spite."

Administration officials say the government hasn't gotten much bang for its buck as far as ACA advertising and the navigator program, with some enrollment centers signing up very few customers.

Democrats are likely to accuse the administration of trying to undermine the program, which President Donald Trump says is going to "implode."

A number of states that operate their own insurance exchanges have extended the open enrollment period beyond the November 1 to December 15 period on the federal marketplace, healthcare.gov. California, Minnesota, Colorado and others have set January enrollment deadlines.

CMS' decision to cut exchange advertising for next year comes just ahead of a September 5 deadline for insurers to submit final rate revisions for 2018. It underscores health insurers' continuing concerns about the Trump administration's commitment to promoting enrollment.

"Effective education ensures that consumers understand their coverage options and encourages broader participation of healthy individuals," said Kristine Grow, spokeswoman for the Association of Health Insurance Plans, the industry's lobbying group. "Marketing, outreach, and education are critical to ensure that all consumers are aware of the upcoming open enrollment period, understand new timelines, and enroll by the deadline."

Slavitt notes that, In addition to cutting funding for enrollment efforts, the Trump administration cut the enrollment period in half this year to just six weeks, compared to three months over the last few years.

"I think it's their hope that at the end of the enrollment period that they can announce significantly lower enrollment. At least, that appears to be their hope. It that's their objective, I'm sure they can achieve it," Slavitt Said.

Consumer advocacy group Protect Our Care denounced the Trump administration's move.

"It's one thing to tweet about your opposition to a law, it's another to undermine it, sabotage it and refuse to do your duty," the group said in a statement Thursday.

Man who claimed he got stabbed by antifa actually just a liar

http://kdvr.com/2017/08/28/police-man-who-said-he-was-stabbed-for-having-neo-nazi-haircut-made-up-story/

"
Joshua Witt, 26, called police on Aug. 16 from the Steak ‘n Shake at 3502 S. River Point Parkway.

He told detectives he got out of his vehicle when a black man in his mid-20s wearing a green shirt and blue pants came up to him and asked, “Are you one of them neo-Nazi?” before trying to stab him with a small knife.

Witt told police that he was stabbed in his left hand while trying to defend himself. He said the man took off toward the bike path along the South Platte River.

Witt posted details of the stabbing on social media, claiming his haircut might have been the reason he was attacked. Witt also conducted several interviews with the media.

But investigators reviewed surveillance video from the area that showed no suspect running from the scene.

Other video showed Witt leaving a nearby sporting good store after he purchased a small knife, police said.

The man Witt had described as the “suspect” was found to be a nearby transient who was cleared of any involvement, police said.

In a follow-up interview on Thursday, police showed Witt the video of him purchasing the knife.

Witt then admitted he cut himself with the knife by accident while parked in his vehicle and admitted to making up the story about being attacked, police said.

Witt was booked and released on a summons for false reporting. He faces a maximum of one year in jail and a $2,650 fine.

Republican legislation in 6 states aims to protect motorists who inadvertently run over protesters

Just in case anyone was still under the illusion that Trump was a sociopathic anomaly among republican politicians:

25% of American voters say they'll never stop supporting Trump no matter what he does or doesn't do

http://www.cnn.com/2017/08/17/politics/trump-approvers-never-stop-approving-poll/index.html

Unfortunately, the only way to solve such a slavish commitment to a single person, party, or governing ideology is via therapy. Time to start diverting focus away from the hope of winning over Trump supporters, and toward convincing independents, rallying opposition to Republicans behind single candidates before each election, and getting more democrats registered and to voting booths in battleground states. Otherwise we're going further down the path of a single-party Republican state.
