Why Conservatives Praise Bernie Sanders on Immigration:

When it comes to immigration reform, Bernie Sanders has checked all the boxes for a Democratic presidential candidate. The Vermont Senator supports a path to citizenship. He would protect the vast majority of undocumented immigrants from deportation. He’d abolish most detention centers and allow the undocumented to buy health insurance through the Affordable Care Act.

Nevertheless, the liberal senator has drawn approval from some unlikely quarters.

Roy Beck, the president of NumbersUSA, a group that seeks to dramatically reduce legal and illegal immigration to the United States, said this week that after studying Sanders’ record and rhetoric, he sees some common ground.

“I think in his gut he believes his obligation as president would be to the workers of America, not to the workers of the world,” Beck said in an interview.

Rep. Steve King of Iowa, the adamantly pro-life co-chair of Sen. Ted Cruz’s presidential campaign who has dismissed global warming as a hoax and repeatedly supported shutting down the federal government, praised Sanders’ immigration stance several times in August.

“I admire Bernie’s passion and I notice that his immigration position is closer to mine than it is some of the presidential candidates on the Republican side,” King said in an interview with an Iowa radio station over this past summer. “He’s said ‘Let’s take care of American workers.’ I’m all for that.”

A common argument against a Bernie Sanders presidency is that he wouldn't be able to get anything done. I thought this article was a good example of how the general respect and admiration of Bernie by many republicans would be more likely to result in legislation getting passed than would happen under a Clinton administration.

The Sanders Campaing is Launching "Feel The Bern" Tour of Black Colleges:

snip

Bernie Sanders’ campaign for president is set to embark on a tour of some of the nation’s historically black colleges and universities, members of his campaign told BuzzFeed News.

Plans for the tour being dubbed “Feel the Bern” according to national campaign spokeswoman Symone Sanders, are still in the works. The candidate will not be present at every stop.

“We are going to be touching HBCUs in a way that’s never happened ever in a presidential campaign,” Marcus Ferrell, Sanders’s black outreach director told BuzzFeed News. “It’s going to be very potent and very positive. We are going to places and talking to folks that haven’t been approached before.”

Ferrell said that several entertainers have thrown their support behind the Vermont senator in recent weeks — Big Boi from Outkast, Bun B, and the actress Tatyana Ali. The campaign is going to use those voices “to talk to folks who know who they are, in addition to people Nina Turner and Dr. Cornel West. These are known thinkers.”

Each stop on the tour of HBCUs will feature a marquee name, but the campaign wouldn’t provide more detail. Campaign officials are however focusing much of their attention on politically engaging Benedict College and South Carolina State. Symone Sanders said the student body presidents on those campuses are supporting Bernie Sanders and have begun mobilizing young voters inside those communities.

So glad to hear that he is doing this!! Arguable he should have been doing this a month or two ago, but at least he's doing it now. Also, the article mentions he will be doing meetings in local barbershops and churches too. This is a great way to outreach for him and his surrogates!

Clinton donors say Sanders is raising more than the front-runner

Hillary Clinton’s donors say they think Bernie Sanders will raise more money in the fourth quarter than their candidate for the first time ever — a testament to the underdog’s online cash juggernaut and a harbinger of donor fatigue among the front-runner’s backers.

Clinton campaign officials said she remains on track to reach her goal of $100 million for the primary by the end of the year; she had already collected $77 million by the end of the third quarter.

But Sanders nearly matched Clinton in the most recent quarter — raising an eye-popping $26 million to Clinton’s $28 million — and multiple fundraising sources on Clinton’s team told POLITICO they expect the Vermont senator to beat her when the next financial disclosures are filed on Jan. 30, just before the Iowa caucuses.

Hey guys, this was posted over in the cesspool called GD-P but I thought I'd share it here in the Bernie Group. If we step up the donations through the rest of the month and come out with some strong numbers at the end of January, that would be a powerful piece of motivation to start off the Iowa caucuses.

Lets do this!!!

10 Ways Bernie Sanders Dominated in December

1. After delivering his strongest debate performance yet, Bernie Sanders won every online poll that asked viewers to pick a winner from the third Democratic contest.

2. He now holds a commanding lead over Hillary Clinton in the key state of New Hampshire and continues to gain momentum in Iowa.

3. Sanders won the readers' poll for TIME Person of the Year, topping Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, Pope Francis and other world leaders.

4. He earned endorsements from Ronda Rousey, Killer Mike, Leonardo DiCaprio, Danny DeVito, Will Ferrell, Sarah Silverman and Dr. Cornel West.

5. He also secured an important endorsement from the Communications Workers of America union, a group of over 700,000 workers.

6. Sanders then scored big with an unprecedented endorsement from the progressive group, Democracy for America. This marks the first time in history that Democracy for America has endorsed a presidential candidate in the primaries.

7. Last week, Sanders received the final dollars he needed to break a historic milestone. The senator officially hit two million individual campaign contributions, a feat that no other U.S. presidential candidate has achieved at this point in an election.

* To put that number in context, Barack Obama's historic 2008 campaign managed to break just one million contributions. Sanders literally has twice what Obama had. Not only that, but Sanders reached two million faster than President Obama reached one.

Millenials are feeling the Bern!!

Link here

Our informal poll indicated it last month, and now it's official: Millennial voters are feeling the Bern. Sanders has the support of 35% of Millennials who plan to vote and Hillary is in second place. No other candidate thus far comes close to either of the two Democrats.

Bernie Sanders has an equal number of male and female Millennials supporters. Meanwhile, while Millennial females are more likely to say they'll be voting for Hillary, her lead is likely not as high has her campaign would like.

Bernie has 34% male and female supporters, while Hillary has 23% women and 17% men.

When we look at current Millennial voter preferences broken down by ethnicity, Bernie is still the clear winner amongst Caucasian, Black, and Hispanic young voters

Bernie has 33% Caucasian, 42% Black and 37% Hispanic among Millennials, while Hillary has 17% Caucasian, 29% Black and 16% Hispanic among Millennials.

Just a little Bernie related anecdote...

I wanted to tell you guys about recent experience I had yesterday. I like hearing about people's everyday encounters as it is inspirational and positive. I went to a trivia night with a group of friends last night. There were 6 people including myself as a team. I consider them my friends as we have gone out to trivia nights a few times before, but I didn't know much about their political views prior to last night. So we are enjoying beer and appetizers when one of them says "did you hear that Trump is going to be in town?" So we started talking about Trump and how ridiculous he is. Now, i'm a pretty political person, but I usually don't force my political views on people whose political views i'm not sure of in order to avoid offending them. The conversation soon went to the other republican candidates. One of the group mentioned how she thought Bush was "okay" because he seemed like the least conservative of the republicans. I gave the opinion that I wasn't impressed by ANY of the republicans. Then, the same person who mentioned Bush, said that she likes Bernie Sanders. That's when the floodgates opened and the conversation shifted to Bernie. We talked about his appeal to young people (the entire group ranged in age from 29 -35) and how, if he became the nominee, he would appeal to a lot of republican voters. We talked about his poll #'s and how Obama was down by about the same amount at this point in the race. All told, out of the 6 of us, 4 of us were Bernie Supporters, 1 appeared to be an undecided democrat, and 1 was a republican who didn't really participate in the discussion much. Its so heartening to know that here in my town in central Illinois, where most people are politics averse, there is such support for Bernie, particularly among young(ish) people. It makes me realize that we really can pull this off!!

Please share some of your experiences, as I'd love to hear them!

Once again, Bernie Sanders wins the Rebublican debate.

Except this time he didn't even participate. Short article at the link below. I also read on the Bernie News Roundup on DailyKos that Bernie once again had the most re-tweeted tweet during the GOP debate!
