senseandsensibility's JournalCNN chyron now : Daily Mail Obtains Photos of Kristi Noem's Husband Wearing Fake Breasts
Now Kristi, according to CNN, is saying that her family was blindsided by this. I guess the crazy stories we've been seeing all day are true. As for me, I want off this crazy train of an administration. When will it stop?
"Extremely basic follow-up queations the press are failing to ask" about opening the Strait of Hormuth
These very logical questions come from GOLIKEHELLMACHINE on bluesky. What actions did the admin take to prepare other countries to take on these responsibilities? What discussions have the admin held with these countries to secure the strait? Who is responsible for coordinating the efforts?
DUers, can you think of any reason that professional journalists with extremely highly paid jobs would not ask such basic questions? Don't you think the answers would shed a lot of light on what is happening here? Gosh, answers to these questions might even be more enlightening than just regurgitating trump's insane demands of our allies to fix his problems.
Just a thought.
Breaking from Ron FIlipkowski: Trump will steal midterms with an unconstitutional order Update: He did it!
The scoop comes from Daily Caller, so I won't link it here. Apparently, according to Ron "With new polls showing a Doomsday Scenario for Republicans int the midterms, Trump escalates efforts to try and steal the midterms with an unconstitutional and illegal order."
He will sign an executive order at 5 pm cracking down on mail-in voting across the country, Daily Caller has learned.
I don't know if DC is accurate, but I don't doubt that trump would try this.
Edited to add that he did it. Guess the Daily Caller was accurate this time.
Katy Tur's (yes, Katy Tur) opening on her show today:
Donald Trump's message to allies is simple: We broke it. You fix it.
That pretty much says it all. Very clear eyed analysis as trump begs NATO countries to solve a problem he created although they had no say in his insane actions.
Have to say I kind of like this new Katy.
We'll see how long it lasts.
Dems are unpopular! The media is very concerned!
Kris Jansing just confronted Jasmine Crockett with a poll result showing Rs with a forty four percent approval rating vs. Dems with a forty three percent approval rating. Obviously, neither party is tearing up the charts when it comes to popularity.
But there is a simple explanation. The high disapproval ratings for Dems results from members of the Democratic party who want their leaders to fight trump harder, not from disapproval of Democratic policies.
Let's put it this way: would any of the Dems who disapprove of their own party for not fighting harder against trump vote for him or his chosen candidates in November? NO. So it is an meaningless statistic.
We're not a braindead cult. The Rs will always get a high rating among their own members who like to be told what to think and do. It doesn't matter. What matters is polls that measure enthusiasm and who voters will actually vote for.
Organizer of No Kings: "We're not marching to change Donald Trump's mind"
Leah Greenberg said that that's not the theory of the case. He is a senile, narcissistic, borderline toddler. She said they are marching to send a message that this reign of trump is temporary. There will be a period when we will win elections and accountability is coming.
I liked her answer to the inevitable question from journalists about what good does it do to have big numbers? What will it change? Isn't trump just continuing with his unpopular policies anyway?
Many journalists seem to think that if trump doesn't immediately give in to the protests and change his behavior they were a waste of time. Their short attention spans and trump-centric worldview have never been more evident.
Sen. Van Hollen has a point, don't you think?
He just said on CNN that trump claimed 3 weeks ago that we won the war. So, what are we negotiating about?
Good question. Instead of spinning in circles about whether we are negotiating, who we are negotiating with, if they can be trusted ,etc.. shouldn't the press be holding him to his previous statement? But no, they allow themselves to be led by the nose by the latest trump BS.
I like Van Hollen. But then I like Murphy, Wes Moore, and many others. We have a deep bench and a strong team IMHO.
Oh yeah, that's gonna happen
Leavitt's answer: I think it is something the president would be quite interested in calling them to do. Certainly, it's an idea I know he has and something you will hear more from him on."
I have an idea. Let's start with them chipping in the 200 billion trump recently asked the taxpayers for. Sound good?
Credit where credit is due to Katy Tur, MSNOW
She just did a segment about trump's age, citing recent polls that show the public think he is becoming more erratic with age. (Of course, both my hubby and I erupted with "becoming?" when that came on the screen). Anyway, she covered his made-up story about a sharpie that he rambled about at a recent cabinet meeting, lies about everything from a former president praising his Iran policy, untruths about Wes Moore praising him, and the "friend" who saw illegal voting among others.
Pretty good segment, although it was too short.
Pearls of wisdom offered by our elite media on CNN about No Kings this morning
Out of morbid curiosity, I tuned in this am to CNN to see what they were saying about the historic, creative and enormous protests yesterday. I happened to catch Manu Raju's Inside Politics in progress.
Let me set the scene. The first thing I heard was the RW guest saying something like I guess that guy with all the makeup wasn't at his first protest. Laughs all around. Then the guest host (not Manu Raju) in a very somber, quasi-worried voice, wanted to know what the purpose of the protests was. He admitted the huge numbers, but the guests agreed that some people just like to protest for the sake of protesting. Then he went on to how unpopular Dems are as a party. He likened NK to the Tea Party, with no acknowledgement that the NK protests are many, many times bigger. He said that the TP didn't end up too well for the Rs, implying that the same would be true for NK because, you know, the two movements are just carbon copies of each other.
The whole tone was condescending, depressing, and misleading. At the end, the chortling "panel" agreed that it did show a certain enthusiasm but didn't seem to think it would lead to votes in the Fall.
I could only stand to watch that much, but it was clear that the corporate media is not presenting a true, or journalistically valid picture of the protests.
