senseandsensibility's JournalSo I waited until the dust settled after the TN election to suggest this, but....
do you think a more "moderate" candidate might have actually won? I'm not claiming to know since I'm not that familiar with TN politics. But, according to an editorial written by Steve Kornacki on NBC.com, it's a possibility that a moderate candidate might have actually pulled it out.
Tennessee is a very red place, and unfortunately, she did have some statements in her past that the big money Rs were able to run nonstop towards the end of the campaign. What if they didn't have that material? Just a thought.
Trump: "We're going to start doing strikes on land soon"
He said this this morning at his "cabinet meeting". I think this is why we're hearing Rs FINALLY speaking up. I think this may be their red line. They've been trying to signal to him that they'll investigate his boat strikes, hoping it would slow him down. He just made clear that he's speeding up. The Rs are finally going to be forced to do something.
Ron Filipkowski gets to the heart of the matter
"Please don't lecture us by claiming that Republicans care about drug traffickers or people suffering from addiction while Trump has pardoned several of the most notorious drug traffickers in history and funding is cut for rehab programs."Sounds like good talking points for our side. This should be on the tip of every Dem's tongue when they are asked about trump's supposed war on drugs.
It's not shocking, but still...wow
Trump just now at his ridiculous "praise the leader" and bore people to death presser of his minions, I mean cabinet: "We're gonna go the wrong way if we keep taking garbage into our country. Ilhan Omar is garbage. She's garbage. Her friends are garbage."
Disgusting words. Disgusting attitude. Somehow I don't think this is going to help him with his 25% approval rating among Independents.
Leader Jeffries bringing the fire
He just held a press conference that was carried on C-SPAN. His take on the explanation of Hegseth's reported double tap strike : "The White House is lying, but that's no surprise, because they lie for a living and the American people know it."
Simple. Blunt. Rude. I kind of like it.
Wonder why WH correspondents do not stand up to trump when he calls them abusive names?
Well, I've got the answer for you, straight from the horse's mouth. Jeff Mason, WH correspondent for Reuters, was on MSNOW on Saturday. Alex Witt (good for her) called him on that and asked why reporters do not stand up for themselves or each other.
His answer was that the reporters do not want to make the story about themselves. As far as standing up for each other, he did not address the implication that they should do so in real time. He assured Witt that they send supportive e-mails to each other when one of the group is attacked.
I don't know about you, but I find this to be weaker than weak sauce. The free press has the obligation to be adversarial and not compliant stenographers. In addition, helping each other feel better with private messages may make them feel better but does nothing to put a check on future abusive behavior by this administration
Lastly, I will never understand why one of these "journalists" is unable to merely say "I don't appreciate being insulted when I ask an appropriate question, Mr. President." Even that dignified response, which most people would applaud, seems to be beyond them.
CNN: "Annoyance in Arizona"
That is the chyron Jake Tapper is using to lead into a story about the Democrat who was duly elected in AZ and denied her seat by Mike Johnson for weeks now.
It's an annoyance people! Relax!
Canada is far more popular than Donald Trump is here in the United States
According to Harry Enten on CNN, Canada is at plus forty nine percent popularity in the US compared to trump, who is minus ten.
I figured we could use a reality check here, and some good news. The fact is that in spite of constant efforts to make trump and maga seem powerful an popular, he and they are not. Efforts at pushback are working. There is more work to do, but this administration is making it easier for us every day.
Hakeem Jeffries says Dems don't work for trump, the republicans, or their billionaire donors
and they're not going to be intimidated. Just now on Jen Psaki's show. Then Cory Booker said trump needs 7 Dem votes and the Dems are not going to lay down for him like the republicans do.
Great show tonight so far with great guests and I love the messaging!
Only twenty seven percent of respondents think Dems would be responsible for a govt shut down
That's the reality, in spite of the bothsidering of the corporate media. Chris Hayes is showing am NPR/PBS News poll showing 27% would blame Ds, 38% would blame Rs and 31% would blame both.
I am going to give the public a little credit here, and I am happy so far with the Dems' positioning on the issue.
